It’s official. Amazon has confirmed the casting of Maggie Q as star of the upcoming Renée Ballard Bosch spinoff series, which Deadline previously exclusively reported. We’re also getting a first look at Maggie Q and Titus Welliver in sneak peek photos of the Renée Ballard crossover episode in the Bosch: Legacy Season 3 finale. You can see above and below. Additionally, Jet Wilkinson has been tapped to direct the first two episodes of the Untitled Renee Ballard series for Prime Video. Wilkinson also will direct the Season 3 finale of Bosch: Legacy, a crossover which serves as the introduction of Maggie Q as Renée Ballard.
The Untitled Renée Ballard series follows Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division—a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination.

Finding out what happened to Maddie will be a central thread in the upcoming episodes of the Bosch spinoff. The new season will also pick up some lingering threads from season 1, including more developments in the ongoing saga of crooked financier Carl Rogers. Here’s where we left Harry, Maddie, and Honey Chandler at the end of season 1.

Harry Bosch is returning to Amazon Freevee on Oct. 20 – and he’s taking matters into his own hands to save his daughter in a new teaser for “Bosch: Legacy” Season 2.
The drama series’ second season finds Bosch (Titus Welliver) working alongside Honey “Money” Chandler (Mimi Rogers) to track down a masked assailant who kidnapped his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) before time runs out. But as the FBI scrutinizes Carl Rogers’ murder, Bosch and Chandler are placed under suspicion.
In the clip, Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector) tells Bosch that he needs to let authorities do their job to find his daughter, to which he replies: “Don’t cut me out!.” He also makes clear that while the FBI has to do things the “right way,” those rules don’t apply to him.

Currently untitled, the two series in development at Amazon are based on characters created by Michael Connelly in his series of Henry Bosch detective novels. We never can say goodbye, and that is especially true when it comes to beloved TV shows. The post-finale spinoff has always been a popular way to keep a franchise going.
In recent decades, some of these spinoffs have been just as good as the original: I would lead with “Frasier,” out of “Cheers,” of course, which put Kelsey Grammer’s character front and center, making him just as iconic as Ted Danson’s Sam Malone. And “Better Call Saul,” an idea that began as a bit of a lark when “Breaking Bad” was ending. Of course, Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould wound up creating something richer — a show led by Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn that went to dramatically dense places no one could have predicted. It’s an immediate spin-off all-timer. “The Good Fight” continued the legacy of “The Good Wife,” but shifted the focus to Christine Baranski.

Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) has quit the LAPD and is now a private investigator who makes “fewer compromises” in the first trailer for Imbd TV’s “Bosch: Legacy,” the spinoff of Prime Video’s longest-running original series, police drama “Bosch.”
While he’s off the force, his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) is now a rookie cop who seems able to handle herself just fine. Her dad tells her, “You have to decide what kind of cop you want to be. Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the series finale of “Bosch”
“Bosch,” Amazon Prime Video’s longest-running series, has finally reached its conclusion— kind of. While one big seven-season-long chapter closes for the abrasive, steadfast and intensive titular Hollywood detective Hieronymous “Harry” Bosch, the disgruntled and now decamped Los Angeles Police Department veteran is headed down a new road. Luckily for fans of the show, this path, to be explored on Amazon IMDb TV’s untitled “Bosch” spinoff, might not diverge too far from what they’re familiar with.
“Bosch,”, starring Titus Welliver, is based on Michael Connelly’s novels featuring the detective; the final season drew on Connelly’s “The Concrete Blonde” and “The Burning Room,” with Harry Bosch and partner Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector) “pursuing two separate but perilous murder investigations that will take them to the highest levels of white-collar crime and...

Fabrik Entertainent is now Fabel Entertainment, and aspiring TV creators should start practicing their pitches. That’s because one differentiating strategy for the production company behind Amazon Prime’s long-running crime series “Bosch” is its actual desire to work with first-time showrunners, company president Melissa Aouate told TheWrap. Three benefactors of the company’s trust exercise include playwrights Nick Carr and Kirsten Guenther (“Benny & Joon” stage musical), as well as Tom Bernardo, who was recently elevated to co-showrunner on the upcoming “Bosch” spinoff set at IMDb TV. Finding series-creator newbies is not the production company’s “sole strategy,” Aouate said, but she believes Fabel, which has a presence both domestically and abroad, is “uniquely positioned” to pull it off. These days, there is more opportunity — money, buyers and modes of sharing/monetizing content — than ever before, something Aouate is happy to exploit. She believes TV audiences have “evolved” along with the platforms.
