Dean of the Dead Presents Holiday Horrors! is a seasonal horror-themed anthology that features stories from ten different directors, all wrapped up with an introduction from Dean of the Dead – a host akin to the likes of Tales From the Crypt‘s Cryptkeeper; and with visuals that look like they’ve jumped straight from the pages of the EC Comics of old… think Creepshow but on a much lower budget!
So what terrifying tales are in this one?
First up is Little Munchkin, directed by Ryan Andrews,...

Congratulations on your role in Michael Fausti’s “Burnt Flowers.” Could you please delve into the details of your character and share what attracted you to this project?
Alice is such an interesting character as she seems to exist almost outside of space and time; we see her first in the 1960s, then she reappears in the ’90s, and she hasn’t aged! You are never quite sure what her allegiance is. Michael didn’t want to give too much away during filming, he wanted me to find my own interpretation of the character. I came up with various theories while we were filming; that Alice was a ghost; that she was a projection of Franc’s id.
At one point, I became convinced that Alice was a figment of Franc’s imagination as we only ever see Alice when Franc is also in the room; but then we shot...

Jonathan Zaurin’s debut feature examines the destructive force of vengeance. Take a look at the first trailer for Derelict.
Here at Film Stories, we’re very passionate about supporting and highlighting exciting new voices in British cinema.
Derelict, the feature film debut of director Jonathan Zaurin, looks about as exciting as they come. Shot partly in striking black and white, the thriller looks excellent.
Take a look at the first trailer for Derelict below.
We detect hints of Ben Wheatley and Shane Meadows in the trailer. While we haven’t seen the finished film yet, we’re excited to see how Zaurin uses those black and white sequences in relation to those in colour. Another small-time British indie director used a similar technique last year in a film about a big bomb.
Derelict is currently in post-production and will begin its film festival journey in 2024. No news on distribution or a release date yet,...

From the opening shots of the film you know you’re in for something special with Wyvern Hill, as director Jonathan Zaurin gives us snippets of… something. Something sinister, something torturous, something evil, that’s happening to a handful of terrified people. That footage is intercut with newsreel talking about mysterious deaths and possibly Hertfordshire’s first serial killer…

So here is something you may want to keep an eye out for. Have a look at this teaser trailer for Jonathan Zaurin's micro budget horror flick from the UK, Wyvern Hill. Beth, a mother in her 60s, is showing signs of Alzheimer disease. She is forced to move into a new home, in the country with her daughter, Jess, and Son in Law, Connor. She realizes only too late that something, or someone, has moved in with her. Wyvern Hill has piqued our interest for a number of reasons. Despite its meager budget (and it is Meager with a capital M) it looks pretty good. Zuarin calls it a slasher with hints of Giallo. Zaurin also filmed Wyvern Hill during the pandemic,...
