It’s easy to be jaded in the year of our lord 2024 about legacy sequels. What once seemed like a novelty less than a decade ago—back when Harrison Ford said, “Chewie, we’re home”—has increasingly become a threat. Hollywood studios continue to be hellbent on dragging from the grave every 1980s and ‘90s pop culture relic. However, terms like “hellbent” and “the grave” have always befitted Tim Burton’s second, and in some circles still best, feature film: Beetlejuice.
Released in 1988 to a smattering of amused if confused critical notices, Beetlejuice’s dark comedy setup about a bland small town couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) discovering the afterlife is like if the Dmv was designed by, well, Tim Burton, was a cultural oddity. It was a movie that juxtaposed mid-20th century Americana with stop-motion effects and claymation, creating sights as gnarly as Michael Keaton’s face on a giant snake hissing,...

Last week, everyone saw that Andy Cohen co-hosted Live with Kelly and Mark instead of Mark Consuelos.
Andy and Kelly Ripa have great chemistry, and he is an excellent substitute for Mark, especially in the Stump Mark portion of the show. Andy showed that he wants to win just as much as Mark does.
This upcoming week will be no different with Mark Consuelos in Italy again instead of in the studio next to Kelly.
Mark is fully invested in his soccer team winning their season and must be there for the games. Unfortunately, he can’t co-host Live because of the travel time back to NYC.
There is a good chance that Campobasso Fc may come out on top in their league, which would break records for the 100-year-old football club, and Mark doesn’t want to miss it.

Live with Kelly and Mark’s Kelly Ripa was selected for the Time 100 Most Influential list for 2024.
Time Magazine publishes this yearly list, putting together “some of the most influential people in the world.”
She excitedly shared photos of herself and Mark Consuelos; all glammed up and ready to attend the gala in New York.
Kelly has been on a good run lately. Her show ratings have been high since Mark took over as co-host, and she was named a Disney Legend. This new accolade adds to her outstanding accomplishments.
The gala came shortly after Kelly and Mark returned from a trip to Africa for a wedding where Mark hurt his bicep, the couple explained earlier in the week, and fans have been eager for an update.
In a post captioned “Mom and Dad steppin’ out at #time100,” Kelly shared a before-shot of them in their apartment but no information about Mark,...

Kelly Ripa took time on Live With Kelly And Mark to share some sad news about her dog, Chewie. The 17-year-old rescue’s health is not what it should be. The former star of All My Children explained what happened to little Chewie, the rescue dog she and her husband Mark Consuelos share, on the dog’s really bad day.
Get To Know Chewie
Kelly Ripa rescued the now 17-year-old dog years ago. She is loved by Mark Consuelos and their three adult children Michael, 26, Lola, 22, and Joaquin, 21. Chewie is the older sister to Lena who was adopted by the family during a segment of the talk show.
Kelly Ripa Wanted To Leave Set To Be With Chewie
“It’s torture. It’s really torture. Because she can’t tell you,” Kelly Ripa told her husband, Mark Consuelos, explaining how she was feeling about their dog getting old.” Chewie was not doing well.

The influx of classic Star Wars games returning to consoles and PCs is something to behold. Sure, some have been terrible, but I’d rather have more classic LucasArts games than another Battlefront II fiasco.
A rumor is going around that a particular game from the mid-1990s will be heading back to the PlayStation platform soon. No, it’s not Masters of Teräs Käsi. It’s Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire!
According to Comicbook.com, Rebel Assault II is headed to the PlayStation Network in April. The leak allegedly gave away the title of the game but not the price. Considering Star Wars: Demolition (a Twisted Metal clone) can be picked up on Psn for $4.99, it’s safe to say the price point will be below $10.
If the leak is accurate, Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire will premiere on the PlayStation Network on April 16. It is...

Kelly Ripa has suggested retiring from her seat on Live with Kelly and Mark for months now, and it seems that the time may be almost here.
Kelly has revealed that she isn’t a morning person, so getting up and slogging away at a morning show every day for years does not make her happy.
Live seems to be getting old for Kelly if we believe what she hinted at recently during the host chat with her husband, Mark Consuelos.
The morning was already off on the wrong foot because Kelly had to apologize to everyone for her and Mark coming out late.
It seemed to be one of those situations where they should have aired a pretaped show, even though that risks angering the fans, but Kelly plowed through anyway.
During the rocky start of the show, Kelly admitted that Mark was in the back playing with toys,...

Live with Kelly and Mark hasn’t been the same since Mark Consuelos became a full-time co-host.
In addition to bringing sports talk to the popular daytime talk show, the trivia contest has morphed into a Stump Mark competition.
Mark, who loves that more men are watching, told the Live crew that he will continue to be himself, which means sharing his love of sports and playing Stump Mark, as Monsters and Critics reported.
Recently, a Stump Mark segment had Mark second-guessing himself and how long he will remain on the show.
Mark already keeps a record of his win/lose stats and gets upset when he loses, even to the point of walking off the set.
An interaction with a guest took a bizarre turn, and Mark wondered if this was it for him. He seemingly realized it was getting out of hand and questioned himself.
Mark asked Kelly if ‘Today is the day?...

Stupendous Tits
After dipping into the world of H.P. Lovecraft in Re-Animator (listen) and checking out an early adaptation of The Portrait of Dorian Gray (listen), somehow we’re already on our third episode of February. And while the holiday doesn’t line up, we couldn’t pass up a chance to revisit Friday the 13th (2009) for its fifteenth anniversary.
In the Marcus Nispel remake, a group of friends travel to the palatial country house of Trent (Travis Van Winkle) near what was once Camp Crystal Lake. As Trent’s girlfriend Jenna (Danielle Panabaker) bonds with Clay (Jared Padalecki) over the disappearance of his sister Whitney (Amanda Righetti), their friends Chewie (Aaron Yoo), Bree (Julianna Guill), Lawrence (Arlen Escarpeta), Nolan (Ryan Hansen) and Chelsea (Willa Ford) are being picked off one by one by Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears).
Who will survive their encounter with survivalist Jason? Can anything top the...

Do you remember when you first saw the trailer for "Star Wars: Episode VII -- The Force Awakens"? Whatever you thought of the film, the moment when Han Solo (Harrison Ford) returns to the Millennium Falcon after all these years was powerful for fans. If the line, "Chewie, we're home" didn't make you tear up as a "Star Wars" fan, your heart is made of stone. Back in 2017, Ford told Star Wars Insider (via ComicBook.com), "I spent a lot of years [in the ship], so it was fun to see again. I didn't remember it as well as I thought I did." However, there was one thing that Ford did remember about the Millennium Falcon through the original trilogy -- that it was falling apart.
That ship, of course, has been referred to in the films with a few disparaging remarks including being called a "bucket of bolts" by Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher...

Although it's now seen as "Episode VI" in an ever-expanding multimedia saga, 1983's "Return of the Jedi," when it was made and first released, was considered to be the grand conclusion to the "Star Wars" Original Trilogy.
As such, there is a wealth of material there to mull over within the film, material that's only become more interesting since the movie was released. Take the opening act, for instance, set in and around the Hutt gangster Jabba's sail barge and the rescue of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from it via an intricate, multi-step plan seemingly known only to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Jabba's penchant for capturing an attractive female of any species, chaining her to himself and using her for his amusement is appropriate for such a (literally) slimy character, yet becomes problematic when he does it to Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher).

“Star Wars” is one of the biggest franchises of all time and has welcomed multiple generations to a galaxy far, far away for 45 years. George Lucas’ groundbreaking vision, which began all the way back in 1977 with “A New Hope,” changed the movie industry forever and, with that, made a mark on the Academy Awards that year with a Best Picture nomination. However, the relationship between “Star Wars” and the Oscars hasn’t always been as lovable as Han Solo and Chewie. In fact, there’s often been a touch of Vader-Luke in the conflicted dynamic between the two institutions. Here’s a breakdown of the history of every “Star Wars” movie at the Academy Awards, ranked in terms of Oscars success.
“A New Hope” (1977)
Dir: George Lucas
Starring: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness

One of the great things about the movies we love is that they continue to evolve the more we watch them. You may notice details you hadn’t before; perhaps certain elements that flew under the radar in previous viewings now stand out more. The more you know the sights and sounds of the picture, the more you can quote the dialogue as the characters say it, the closer your relationship with it becomes.
That relationship can change over time too. Movies that you still hold affection for might seem a little off, a little dated, not quite as remarkable as they once were. The rose-covered glasses might slide down, if just a little. You still love the movie, but not in the same way you once did. Of course, all this preamble is my way of revisiting Return of the Jedi, the final film in George Lucas’ ambitious “Star Wars” trilogy.
