Mohammad Ali Hashmi is a Pakistani actor and writer known for
In Flames (2023) which had its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
Born in Karachi, he carved a niche for himself in the country's vibrant theatre and commercial scene. He made his international film debut in "
Stray Dogs Come Out at Night (2020)" that holds the honor of being the first Pakistani film to premiere at both BFI: London Film Festival and Clermont-Ferrand international film festival (2020). His other credits include "
Bhai (2021)" that had its world premiere at the Toronto International film festival (TIFF).
As a writer, Mohammad holds a co-writing credit on Dia (2018). He also developed the initial story idea of Bhai (2021), and is a contributing writer on
Zarrar Kahn's feature film "In flames".
Hashmi will be making his directorial debut with "Act of Lamentation" which is slated for a 2024 release.
