The Flash really needs to work on its villain problem, because Cicada isn't cutting it.

"Goldfaced" combines elements of a fish-out-of-water heist story, introduces a new comic book-based meta-villain, and plays matchmaker and relationship therapist across multiple earths all in one plot crockpot that is light on costumes or superpowers, and contains a pinch of Eobard Thawne for flavoring. Sadly, it also adds the tiring Cicada storyline, which makes this a tasty story, but one with an incredibly overused ingredient, like truffles.
After the attempt in "Memorabilia" to incept Orlin Dwyer/Cicada’s niece failed, and instead create a child villain to deal with later on, Barry decided Cisco’s cure – which is apparently good to go – should be administered to the serial killer. But they need a neuro stasis field generator, naturally, to hold him in place long enough...

With Cisco’s meta cure near completion, Caitlin shares with the team the “but” of the matter — to apply it so Cicada and remove his powers, the Big Bad will need to be detained for a full minute. No inject-and-run here! The solution to the problem lies in a MacGuffin piece of tech that Ralph’s buddy Earl Cox says can be found on a black market that is run by a guy named Goldface.

In a humorous but revealing new clip from tonight’s episode of The Flash, “Goldfaced,” we see Sherloque Wells meeting his future ex-wife Renee Adler—but taking it a bit too far with his masterful skills of observation. However, it’s what leads to the chance encounter in Cc Jitters that is part of a bigger mystery. The clip teases that Nora knows Sherloque is investigating her, and has been doing detective work about her time language journal.
