In Denis Villeneuve's 2021 sci-fi epic "Dune: Part One," Jason Momoa plays Duncan Idaho, a Gonaz Swordmaster in the service of House Atreides. He was robust and friendly, kind to the young Paul (Timothée Chalamet), and capable in a fight; he famously killed multiple Sardaukar warriors before being overwhelmed and slain during a Harkonnen raid on the Atrides' mansion in Arrakeen. Despite this, Frank Herbert's second "Dune" book, "Dune Messiah," sees Duncan return as a clone, Indeed, Duncan clones, called "gholas," appeared throughout Herbert's six original novels, making Duncan Idaho the only "Dune" character to hold that distinction.
Villeneuve's "Dune" was filmed in the deserts of Jordan, specifically the Wadi Rum region, making for unbearably hot shooting days. When Momoa spoke with Entertainment Weekly about filming "Dune," he admitted he was wont to explore those deserts in his spare time. He explained how Villeneuve ensured all the...

Steven Spielberg can’t stop thinking about Timothée Chalamet atop a sandworm in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two.”
The director praised Villeneuve during an installment of the DGA’s “Director’s Cut” podcast, where Spielberg welcomed Villeneuve to the club of filmmakers who are the “builders of worlds” onscreen.
“It’s an honor for me to sit here and talk to you. Let me start by saying there are filmmakers who are the builders of worlds. It’s not a long list and we know who a lot of them are,” Spielberg said. “Starting with [Georges] Méliès and Disney and Kubrick, George Lucas. Ray Harryhausen, I include in that list. [Frederico] Fellini built his own worlds. Tim Burton. Obviously Wes Anderson, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, Guillermo del Toro. The list goes on but it’s not that long of a list, and I deeply, fervently believe that...

At 28, Timothée Chalamet is five years older than he was when he shot Denis Villeneuve’s first iteration of “Dune” (2021), adapted by Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts from Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi saga, which Villeneuve had adored since his early teens and had the sense to split into two parts. That film ran 155 minutes and cost $165 million against a pandemic global gross of $404 million, controversially released day and date by Warner Bros. in theaters and on HBO Max. It scored 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and won six craft categories.
Villeneuve, who mixes the sensitivity of an artist with the drive of an ambitious studio director, revels in big-scale epics like 2017’s “Blade Runner 2049” ($260 million worldwide). This time, with “Dune: Part Two,” he has the chance to smash a global blockbuster. Ten minutes longer than “Part One” and budgeted at $190 million, after strike delays, “Part Two” finally explodes in...

Coming up on March 1st from AppleTV+ is yet another joyful and whimsical British comedy ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.’ Led by Mr Great British Back-off host Noel Fielding in the titular role and propped up by some of the biggest and best names in British comedy.
The six-episode Apple Original centres on Dick Turpin (Fielding), who sets out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he’s made the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws — and tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville).
In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavours, including a brush with celebrity, all whilst trying...

In a short but intriguing interview held by Digital Cinema Report, ‘The Creator’ Dp, Oren Soffer, elaborated on the making. As explained by the film director Gareth Edwards regarding the guerrilla-style filmmaking approach used to shoot the movie, the tools were also confirmed. It’s amazing to reveal that this $80,000,000 budget sci-fi movie was shot on these affordable and reachable tools: Sony FX3, Ronin RS2, Atomos Ninja, Kowa 75mm anamorphic, and ProRes Raw.
Sony FX3, Ronin RS2, Atomos Ninja, Kowa 75mm Anamorphic, and ProRes Raw Shot on Sony FX3 – Guerrilla-style filmmaking
Y.M.Cinema was the first to report that this mega-budget Hollywood sci-fi production was shot on a prosumer camera, Sony FX3. As opposed to what many have thought, the Arri Alexa 65 was not involved in this project. The use of the Sony FX3 has contributed a lot to the desired style that Director Gareth Edwards was eager for.

Rebecca Ferguson is teasing Dune: Part Two and saying the sequel surpasses the first film.
“I’m smiling so much right now. It’s so f***ing good. I get emotional talking about it because I love Denny [Villeneuve] and I love Greig and I love the team,” Ferguson told Collider in an interview. “But dude, number one is phenomenal and big and grandiose, and then you go close-ups and the imagery and the acting. Yeah, it’s all great. It’s f***ing nothing compared to number two. Number two, it’s like a f***ing gut punch. It’s unreal.”
She continued, “I haven’t seen the film. I’ve read the script. I’ve seen the footage. I’ve come onto set when I’m not filming, which by the way I don’t do because I’m too busy, tired, and I don’t really care. I’m done.
