[This story contains spoilers from the Abbott Elementary season three finale, “Party.”]
If there’s one issue viewers have had with the beloved ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary over its three seasons, it’s that Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) have yet to take their working relationship to the next level, as fans have been shipping the pair since its season one debut.
After a painstaking episode 13, “Smith Playground,” in which Janine and Gregory’s plans to tell each other how they feel are thwarted by fellow teacher, Mr. Morton’s bitter warning to “never date someone you work with,” audiences began to lose hope. But in the final minutes of the season three finale episode, “Party,” which aired Wednesday night, the two share a passionate kiss at Janine’s end of the school year bash, putting an end to the tortuous will-they-won’t they dynamic between the teachers.

Abbott Elementary may only be on its third season, but the ABC series has already established itself as one of the best workplace sitcoms. The Emmy-winning show has all the essential ingredients of the genre: a flawed but lovable protagonist, a ridiculous boss, an ensemble full of eccentric characters, and, of course, a will-they/won’t-they? romance.
From the very beginning, viewers have rooted for Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) to get together. While he was clearly interested in her from the moment they chaotically crossed paths in the pilot, she was still with her long-term boyfriend Tariq (Zack Fox). As they grew closer though, their connection became undeniable, something that deserved to be fully explored.

We’ve all come across those frustrating people in life who refuse to consider others around them and live in their own little bubbles and when writer/director Jonathan Salmon was dreaming up the central character in his comedic anthology this was exactly the type of loveable idiot he needed. Life of Brad James succeeds in making you laugh out loud, cringe and reflect on similar situations encountered in life. By focussing on three innocuous daily situations chosen by Salmon for their simplicity and relatability, Life of Brad James keeps you guessing as to what absurd behaviour our protagonist will enact next, never quite landing where you think it will. Coupled with documentary-like footage and a natural tone it’s a short which provides a delightful ‘thank god it’s not me’ fly on the wall view of the titular character’s series of self-absorbed faux pas. We invited Salmon...

ABC's "Abbott Elementary" follows a group of passionate (and eccentric) teachers at the titular fictional Philadelphia school as they forge friendships and help one another meet the challenges of working in an underfunded district. While the award-winning, breakout workplace comedy deftly highlights real issues that exist within the US public education system, there's also tons of humor and heart. For instance, there's that slow-burn romance between optimistic second-grade teacher Janine (Quinta Brunson) and newly elected full-time teacher, Gregory (Tyler James Williams). It's one plotline fans have been following with bated breath since the very beginning, and the season two finale, which premiered April 19, gave the duo another milestone - still without them officially getting together.
Every time a spark of their undeniable chemistry flies on screen, we can't help but wonder if these two will finally give in to their feelings (or continue to awkwardly avoid their obvious connection). So,...

Celebrity couples are beloved amongst fans, but perhaps not as much as celebrity best friendships. And among those friendships, few are as revered as Lisa Ann Walter’s friendship with her “Parent Trap” co-star Elaine Hendrix — but that relationship doesn’t mean you’ll see Hendrix on “Abbott Elementary.”
Walter, of course, stars on the ABC comedy as Melissa Schemmenti, one of Abbott’s best, but a little bit terrifying, teachers. But, before there was “Abbott Elementary,” there was the 1998 version of “The Parent Trap,” in which Walter starred as Chessy, the live-in nanny and housekeeper for Hallie.
It was on that film that she met Elaine Hendrix, who starred as Meredith Blake, and the two became fast friends. Over the years, their friendship is one that’s endured, and Hendrix even accompanied Walter to this year’s SAG Awards. So, it’s hard not to wonder if she might pop up on “Abbott Elementary.

Is it too soon to pick the best episodes of “Abbott Elementary,” which has been on the air for just over a year? It wasn’t too soon to put it on every end of year list IndieWire put together, so we say no.
On December 7, 2021, ABC premiered the pilot of Quinta Brunson’s elementary school mockumentary, about a spirited and underfunded Philadelphia public school. Brunson stars as second-grade teacher Janine Teagues, a second-year teacher yet to be worn down by the administration. On December 7, 2021, ABC premiered the pilot of Quinta Brunson’s elementary school mockumentary, about a spirited and underfunded Philadelphia public school. The need and desire to see Black, Brown, Asian and Indigenous people on screen has yet to be completely fulfilled by Hollywood, but there has been a recent uptick in Aapi and Bipoc representation on screen. According to a 2021 Nielsen study titled “Being Seen on Screen,” data from the 2021 to 2021 television season showed 78 of the top 1,500 shows had some racial, ethnic or sexual orientation diversity.
And people want more representation, because not only does it increase the self-esteem for people of marginalized groups, reduce stereotypes and support the wants of viewers of color, it helps accurately portray the world and the people in it.
Here are 14 shows (in no particular order) from 2022 that had casts led by people of color that are well worth watching. These series either came out in 2022 or had a season premiere this year.

A 2018 tweet from comedian Zack Fox has been making the rounds after Kanye West claimed he “likes Hitler”.
The controversial rapper, also known as Ye, appeared on right-wing commentator Alex Jones’s web streaming show InfoWars on Thursday (1 December).
During his appearance on the programme, the musician responded to Jones’s attempt to defend him from recent criticisms for antisemitic comments.
“You’re not Hitler, you’re not a Nazi, so you don’t deserve to be demonised,” Jones told West.
In response, the “All Falls Down” rapper said: “Well, I see good things about Hitler also.”
He later said as the cameras cut to a commercial break: “I like Hitler.”
West’s comments have been widely denounced on social media, with figures such as Frozen star Josh Gad speaking out against the message.
Among the reaction, a screenshot of an old tweet from comedian Zack Fox has been recirculated on the platform.

We're cruising through Season 2 of Quinta Brunson's "Abbott Elementary" -- one of the funniest and most moving workplace sitcoms. My goodness! The Emmy-award-winning series has continued to be on a hot streak throughout this latest season with excellently calculated comedic chaos. In season 2, the underpaid and overworked teachers are back, and their plight to educate the children of this Philadelphia school district makes for some of the best television in 2022.
As an avid fan of "Abbott Elementary," I can't help but find unbridled joy in every quirky character interaction. However, I do have my favorites. There have been many tribulations at Philidelphia's Abbott Elementary school -- ranging from the "desking" incident to the destruction of every toilet on the premises. Through it all, I have gotten to familiarize myself with the eclectic cast of characters, and I'm just itching to see how they stack up against each other. Take a seat,...

One notable effect of the internet is that the question “Whatever happened to so-and-so?” is all too easy to answer. And, more often than not, you’ll realize you shouldn’t have asked.
In the case of Rachel Dolezal, the 44-year-old white woman who rose to infamy in 2015 when it emerged that she had long lied about being Black — a scandal that led to her resignation as an NAACP chapter president and dismissal from her job as a college instructor in Africana studies — here’s a quick recap: She published a memoir,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Abbott Elementary, Season 2, Episode 1, “Development Day.”] The teachers of Abbott Elementary are back to school and getting ready for the arrival of their students in the Season 2 premiere episode, “Development Day.” A triumphant return for the Emmy-winning network comedy, it didn’t feel quite as triumphant for the ever-optimistic educator Janine (Quinta Brunson) who was dealing with a lot following her breakup from Tariq (Zack Fox). Seemingly enthusiastic about her return to work, Janine drives into the Abbott lot for the start of Development Week, the period of time when teachers prepare for their upcoming school year. While she claims that she’s been making the best of her situation, there’s clearly an issue brewing underneath the surface. Putting it aside momentarily, Janine is shocked to find that principal Ava (Janelle James) is letting Eagles fans tailgate in the school parking lot, something Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) is...

Abbott Elementary Season 2 Episode 1
Abbott Elementary got renewed for a second season shortly before its 13-episode first season even concluded. That’s because the show takes a severely misunderstood workplace setting, public schools, and breathes new life into it for families all over America. Unless you’re in education yourself, it’s hard to picture what teachers and administrators go through each day to give their best efforts and prepare students for their lives in and out of the classroom. Think of the show as a peak behind the curtains, a way for parents to gain a little more empathy for the adults who dedicate so much of their lives to a selfless career.
For anyone wondering whether the sitcom hits the same notes in its second time at bat, the answer is a resounding yes. Quinta Brunson’s heartfelt mockumentary is back and just as optimistic as ever,...

It’s Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after she’s won an Emmy, and Quinta Brunson’s voice is hoarse. The days of pre-award festivities leading up to the Sept. 12 ceremony were frantic, starting with Variety’s Showrunners Dinner. Then came the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony in downtown Los Angeles, the Governors Gala and Disney’s post-Emmy celebration, which spilled into the next day. Something had to give.
Yet when the “Abbott Elementary” creator and star sits down for an in-depth interview with Variety, her creative voice is clear and strong.
On the morning after the Emmys, she’s back on Warner Bros.’ Burbank lot, about to take part in a table read and start production on a new episode of the hit ABC comedy. Before the grind resumes, however, Brunson stops by the studio commissary’s executive dining room for breakfast and a quick conversation about the Wbtv comedy...

Every viewer who discovered this sharp yet sweet documentary-style series Abbott Elementary in its first season wins a Perfect Attendance Award — that’s how quickly it became required viewing, week after week. We return to the underfunded Philadelphia elementary school just before kids start roaming the hallways, “as the [staff prepares] for the incoming year, a part of teaching that hasn’t really been explored on TV, especially in comedy,” says exec producer Patrick Schumacker. Bonus: We find out what the teachers did over the summer — although not in essay form. (Credit: ABC) For optimistic second-grade teacher Janine Teagues (creator Quinta Brunson), who ended her relationship with rapper Tariq (Zack Fox) in April’s finale, “We’re seeing her being single for the first time and how that’s affecting her at work and in life,” says fellow EP Justin Halpern. Don’t expect her to explore those subtle sparks with cool...

A few months ago, Quinta Brunson – the star of the hit mockumentary Abbott Elementary – was perusing a liquor store in Philadelphia. She was startled when, out of nowhere, a woman yelled in her direction, “Girl, you need to dump that boyfriend!” The woman was speaking to Brunson as if she was Janine, the indefatigable teacher she portrays in Abbott Elementary, who is dating a feckless, wannabe rapper called Tariq (Zack Fox). “People are so funny these days,” Brunson tells me, recalling the encounter. “I’m like,” – she puts on a gentle, teacherly voice – “‘Janine is a character that I play on TV.’ You’d be surprised how many people haven’t seen mockumentaries before, and had to realise it was totally fictional.”

Warning: Spoilers ahead! When one door closes, another one opens. At least, that's what we're hoping after the season finale of ABC's Abbott Elementary. In the April 12 episode, Janine (Quinta Brunson) realizes that her 10-year relationship with boyfriend Tariq (Zack Fox) has reached its end. It's a tough pill to swallow for Janine, but fans are hoping it means that Tyler James Williams' Gregory will finally make the move in season two. Quinta is open to the idea of a romance but hesitant to push her character into a new relationship so soon. "To me, Janine is now on a journey of finding herself," the actress and series creator told Entertainment...

It Is What It Is is Stephen Lee Bruner's fourth album as Thundercat and features the singles 'Black Qualls', 'Dragonball Durag', 'Fair Chance' and viral hit 'Funny Thing'. Joined by a stellar cast of musical friends – Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, Badbadnotgood, Louis Cole, Pedro Martins and Zack Fox – the record was produced by Thundercat and his longtime partner Flying Lotus who was Grammy-nominated in 'Producer of the Year, Non-Classical' for his work on the album.
Silly, sentimental and serious – often all at the same time – "This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that," Bruner says. "It's a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life you come across places that you don't necessarily understand… some things just aren't meant to be understood." Like many artists performing on late night these days, Phoebe Bridgers had to get creative with her at-home stage setup for her latest appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. This time, she went full karaoke.

Live television is electric. Even when it’s bad, like your average episode of Saturday Night Live or Viceland’s mostly disastrous foray into live TV, Vice Live, there’s still something compelling about the chaotic, anything-can-happen energy. The spirit of a performance teetering slightly off the rails is part of what’s made live streaming platforms like Twitch so interesting and popular; there’s a little bit of danger baked into even the most innocuous feed.
Iheartcomix and Beats by Dr. Dre appear to be courting a bit of this danger by teaming with Twitch for a new global live stream series, Released! Hosted by Zack Fox. Rapper/comedian Fox was the lone bright spot of the before-mentioned Vice Live and teaming him with director Kitao Sakurai for an “an interactive live performance narrative adventure” described as “in the being of Blues Clues, Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, Mystery Science Theatre 3000,...

Keanu Reeves is one of the most popular stars in Hollywood – there’s even a scientific theory to explain why – and the actor’s stock has arguably never been higher after a string of critically-acclaimed roles in recent years. After production on The Matrix 4 was halted due to the Coronavirus, Keanu Reeves Day at your local theater may no longer be happening, but there’s no doubt that the 55 year-old is already planning his next career move.
The general consensus is that it’s just a matter of time before Reeves signs on to one of the industry’s premiere comic book franchises, with both Marvel and DC desperate to acquire his services. Kevin Feige has admitted in the past that there’s always a spot open for him in the McU, while their rivals over at Warner Bros. are said to be looking into the possibility of reviving...

After a month and a half, Viceland is pulling the plug on “Vice Live,” its weeknight live show, due to low ratings.
“Vice Live” aired Monday through Thursday from Vice’s Brooklyn headquarters, originally launching as a two-hour nightly showcase of all things Vice. The show premiered on Feb. 25 to just 77,000 viewers, making it one of cable’s least-watched shows in primetime.
The final episode of “Vice Live” aired last Thursday. Viceland president Guy Slattery announced the cancellation to staffers on Monday. A spokesperson referred Variety to an internal memo sent by Slattery.
