- Divya Gopinath is an Indian actress, singer, dancer, model, and Director Assistant. She was born in Ernakulam,Kerala. She was born to Politicians C.P.Ushadevi and K.N.Gopinath. Her sibling Vrinda Gopinath is elder of the two. Divya completed Masters degree in commerce from St.Xaviers college, Alwaye after which she took a Masters degree in Theater arts from School of Dram, Thrissur. Presently pursuing M Phil from the same Institution. She has been an active performer ever since childhood gaining reputation through her vivid and challenging performances on and off screen.
Her acting career gained shape while she was in college where she represented her college in the intercollegiate mono act play and won the competition 4 years in a row. She took a short break from acting after college but came back strongly by participating in Mahindra Excellent International theater festival of India as well as International theater festival of Kerala. The switch from on stage to on screen though, came because of the chance given by famous theater artist and director Deepan Sivaraman in his world renowned play "The Legend of Khasak" in which she portrayed Maimuna, the female lead role. Her performance in the play received praise from many and caught the eyes of some of the biggest Directors in South film industry.
Soon she debuted on the big screen playing a character role in Rajeev Ravi's award winning movie 'Kammattipaadam'. Realising her massive potential, Director Sajin Babu gave a prominent role in his movie 'Ayaal Sasi' in which she acted alongside Sreenivasan. She played an important role in the Malayalam movie 'Aabhasam' featuring Rima Kallingal in the lead role. Set aside her acting career, she has also played a major role in the creation of Dravida Productions who's first Performing arts venture, the play named 'Pulijanmam' was showcased few months ago. The Play received huge appreciation from audience and organizations alike. Divya acts as the Managing Partner and the Performing arts Director for Dravida productions. She worked as the project designer in their first venture Pulijanmam. Pulijanmam has been officially selected in the Meta festival which is one of the biggest drama festivals in India. The play has been nominated for awards in 10 categories out of total 13 which further emphasizes the talent and hard work of herself and her team. The play will be showcased in the festival during the month of March.
After the critically acclaimed hit Kammattipaadam, Divya is working for the second time with Rajeev Ravi in his upcoming movie titled as Thuramugham, starring Nivin Pauly, Poornima Indrajith, Nimisha Sajayan ans so on. Beside this, she is also doing an important role in State award winning Director Vidhu Vincents upcoming stand up comedy starring Nimisha Sajayan, Rajisha Vijayan, Arjun Ashokan.
