Ray Mattis
- Composer
Ray Mattis was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania and raised in the neighboring borough of Bridgeport. He graduated from Upper Merion High School in 1995 and attended West Chester University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors and a Masters degree. When he was 14 years old, his father bought him his first electric guitar for his birthday. Self taught, Ray practiced daily for several hours and joined his first band when he was 15, a local punk rock group named "Identity Crisis".
In 1997, Ray Mattis expanded his musical horizons and purchased his first keyboard and sequencer. He followed this by enrolling in musical theory classes in college, eventually recording solo projects. In 1999, he recorded a 2-minute piano piece and played it for his mentor who said it "sounds like creepy music for a horror movie". Ever a fan of horror films, this inspired Ray to pursue composing music for films.
He resides in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania and lives a quiet life with his fiance, Jessica.
