Showrunner Chris Sheridan told TVinsider, though, even his closest pal Asta...

Mythic Quest Co-Creator Megan Ganz On Poppy And Ian's Big Origin Story Episode [Exclusive Interview]
"Mythic Quest" has done it again. The Apple TV+ series about a team of dysfunctional video game designers spends the majority of each season as a geeky, raucous workplace comedy, but at least once per season, it switches gears completely. In one half-hour detour per year, without fail, the show morphs into a character-driven tearjerker.
In its debut season, the show gave us "A Dark Quiet Death," a magnificent one-off starring Cristin Miloti and Jake Johnson as a couple who fall in and out of love while creating the video game of their dreams. Season 2 shared the origin story of F. Murray Abraham's C.W. Longbottom (Josh Brener in flashback), a writer who was never quite able to live up to his own expectations for himself. Now, in its third season, the show has just delivered yet again with "Sarian," an episode that shows audiences how Ian (Rob McElhenney...

The following contains mild spoilers for Resident Alien.
Resident Alien is about much more than just Harry Vandesrpiegle (Alan Tudyk), a disguised alien pretending to be human in the town of Patience, Colorado. Yes, there’s plenty of awkward comedy as he tries to blend in and make sense of the oddities of human behavior, but the show also uses his abrasive personality and pointed commentary to illuminate the similar problems many of his neighbors are also dealing with.
That the show gives each and every member of its sprawling cast such clearly defined layers is part of the reason it’s so darn great to begin with, but what makes it truly remarkable is that these characters all have journeys and arcs of their own that exist completely separately from Harry and the threat of alien annihilation. Asta (Sara Tomko) is attempting to build bridges with the daughter she gave up for adoption.

Phoning home is not an option! The titular E.T. (Alan Tudyk) of Syfy’s standout dramedy resumes his second year of inhabiting the body of earthling Harry Vanderspeigle amid the fallout from pal Asta (Sara Tomko) gunning down a shady dude from the real Harry’s past in the second half of Resident Alien Season 2. “Asta is not handling it well,” explains creator Chris Sheridan, adding that things get even messier once her Bff, D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund), becomes involved. “What’s the saying? ‘A friend helps you move, but a true friend helps you move a body.’” More trouble on tap: That alien assassin (Enver Gjokaj) we met in the midseason finale sticks around, and a feral baby alien (above) runs loose in Patience, Colorado. We love him already. Resident Alien also stars Elizabeth Bowen, Levi Fiehler, Corey Reynolds, Judah Prehn, and Meredith Garretson. The cast stopped by...

Strong viewership is certainly not alien to “Resident Alien,” but the show’s Season 2 premiere was Syfy’s second-most-watched telecast since 2015.
Syfy’s most-watched episode of TV over that roughly eight-year time span was “Resident Alien” Episode 106, so, Episode 201 is in pretty familiar — and rarified — company.
Including one week of delayed viewing, the Jan. 26, 2022 “Resident Alien” Season 2 premiere was watched by 3.2 million total viewers. That’s up 5% from the Season 1 premiere, another rarity on television these days.
Among adults 18-49, the premiere vs. premiere increase was 2%. Growth (on a percentage basis) was the same in the adults 25-54 demographic.
“Resident Alien” Season 1 averaged 2.917 million total viewers per episode. That made “Resident Alien” Syfy’s most-watched new drama in nearly eight years — or since the first season of “Defiance” averaged 3.224 million viewers in 2013.

It is a safe assumption that anyone with even a casual awareness of popular culture knows an Alan Tudyk performance.
For science fiction fans, Tudyk may be Wash from Firefly, or K-2So from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. For fans of comic-book-based shows, he’s Joker and Clayface on Harley Quinn, or Mr. Nobody on Doom Patrol. Disney fans have their pick of comedic villains, and animal sidekicks. From comedies to drama to dramedy, Tudyk has one of the most recognizable and interesting careers in showbusiness.
But it is in his current role, on Syfy’s sci-fi comedy series Resident Alien, that Tudyk is receiving newfound recognition. Premiering its second season Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 9 p.m. Et, the show revolves around Tudyk’s extraterrestrial character who crash lands on our planet while trying to exterminate humanity. The first season of Syfy’s comedy-drama series Resident Alien is like the plot of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial — if, before returning home, E.T. was a surly, not incredibly lovable being, who wanted to kill all humans, and tormented Elliott. So maybe not like E.T. But in tonight’s finale, the alien posing as human Harry Vanderspeigle does finally head back to his world.
However, Harry’s departure from the planet and Patience, Colorado, ends up not being as simple as the Reese’s-loving alien’s. Instead, Harry (Alan Tudyk) ultimately abandons his mission to wipe out humanity in the interest of saving his friend Asta (Sara Tomko). He also attracts even more attention from the extra-government agents led by Linda Hamilton’s General Wright, discovers young Max (Judah Prehn) has stowed away on his ship, and he left all that pizza back on Earth.

The dude at AlienCon wasn't too far off. Harry has some traits that could corral him in a similar vein as Christopher Columbus.
But despite his mission and obsession to kill us all, his impact on Asta's life has been positive.
A trip to AlienCon on Resident Alien Season 1 Episode 9 showed harry how much Asta cares about him, but in the end, he was still a miserable, death-obsessed alien instead of the guy we know is in there.
Honestly, something about his recent recharged determination to kill us doesn't feel true to the character. It's as if all of the feelings he's experienced have been erased.
Every instance that offers an opportunity to see that side of Harry does an abrupt about-face.
I'm not an idiot, and I read people well. So instead of wondering whether I misread the situation, I'm somewhat annoyed that the more playful side of Harry has disappeared.

Excellent news from Syfy today!
While so many of us have been enjoying Alan Tudyk's portrayal of an alien in a human body suit, it shouldn't be a surprise that the network wants him hanging around.
That's right! Resident Alien has been renewed for a second season.
Let's allow that to sink in for a moment.
The funniest dramedy to hit TV this year (and last?) will be back for more.
Yes, we're thrilled!
Resident Alien is the network's highest-rated drama in more than six years. This new multi-platform method from NBCUniversal must be working.
Resident Alien Season 1 Episode 1 garnered 9.3 million viewers across their multiple platforms.
Viewers who want the best first watch weekly on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. on Syfy.
Those who are Ok waiting a little while longer can be found on Peacock.
The first three episodes can be found on the streamer now, and subsequent episodes will drop every Friday.

Alan Tudyk is an artisan of non-humans. Sign him up to play a droid or an anthropomorphized boat or the cartoonish embodiment of chaos and the man will deliver. So it’s no surprise that the actor slots in perfectly as “Harry Vanderspeigle” in “Resident Alien,” the star of the latest genre-averse offering from Syfy.
The scare quotes around the character’s name come from the fact that it’s hard in print to distinguish the alien of the title from the human body which he inhabits for a majority of the show. With the erstwhile Harry’s corpse literally sits chilling in the downstairs freezer of a remote cabin, the alien that assumes his form is left to take over the duties of town doctor for the tucked-away mountain community of Patience, Colorado.
It’s a premise befitting the sitcom that “Resident Alien” channels for a chunk of the series.

When an alien crash-lands on Earth and takes over the body of a small-town doctor in Syfy’s “Resident Alien,” he spends hours rewinding and mimicking the same lines of dialogue from “Law & Order” in order to learn how to walk, talk and interact with humans. But as much as he intends to utilize those lessons when venturing out in town, “life comes at him fast,” Alan Tudyk, who plays the alien, admits. And this, more often than not, sees him reacting as his honest self as a “novice human” in many situations. For that, Tudyk tells Variety he drew upon his own tutelage of clowns.
The alien, called Harry because that is the name of the man whose body he is inhabiting, may be on a mission to wipe out humanity, but Tudyk is quick to explain the clowning style he has studied is the “Cirque du Soleil, European school,...
