Exclusive: Michael Irby has signed with Brillstein Entertainment Partners for representation.
Irby is coming off two hit shows that ended their runs in 2023, FX’s Mayans M.C. and HBO’s Barry.
In the Kurt Sutter and Elgin James-co-created motorcycle drama Mayans. M.C., Irby played the series regular role of Obispo ‘Bishop’ Losa across the show’s 5 seasons. The Sons of Anarchy spinoff follows the titular M.C. based in the fictional California border town of Santo Padre. Bishop held leadership positions including former Presidente and Vice Presidente of the club’s Santo Padre Charter. The show is connected to Soa via the character of Marcus Alvarez (Emilio Rivera), Bishop’s cousin.
In Barry, Irby played polite Bolivian mobster Cristobal Sifuentes across the crime drama’s four seasons. Cristobal allies with his criminal associate NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan) merging their organizations and later their...

Ez’s decision to instate himself as Mayans Mc‘s new president appears to have come at an enormous cost.
In a new trailer released Wednesday (and embedded above) for the FX drama’s final season, not many people have faith in Ez’s ability to help the Santo Padre Mayans survive their war with the Sons of Anarchy.

FX’s Mayans M.C. is going to war in Season 4 and they’re not battling just anyone. When the show returns with back-to-back episodes on April 19, the Mayans will face off against Sons of Anarchy‘s Samcro—in many ways, the present is battling the past to make way for the future.
“I don’t think [the past] is ever going to go away. Once the water breaks the dyke, I don’t know if it ever ends. I don’t know how you put that back together,” series co-creator Elgin James told Deadline during the show’s TCA panel on Tuesday. “We start [the season] off with a bang; we come out swinging. There’s more action in the first episode than there was in the three earlier seasons. We will take our time and be patient because we also have to reset ourselves emotionally. But once it starts rolling again, there’s no stopping it.

If the name Michael Irby sounds familiar it's probably because he played a role on one of your favorite police or army dramas.
From True Detective to Seal Team, Almost Human to CSI: Cyber, Irby has played the good cop time and time again. However, on Mayan's M.C., Irby finds himself on the opposite side of the tracks.
Irby portrays Obispo "Bishop" Losa, President of the Mayans Motorcycle Club and cousin of Marcus Alvarez. I had the opportunity to talk with Irby and discuss what he enjoys most about this new character.
Related: Mayans M.C. Season 1 Episode 9: Serpiente/Chikchan
He also provided readers with a tease as to what they can expect in the Season 1 finale as well as potential storylines for Season 2.

Badass Mayan M.C. president Obispo “Bishop” Losa is played by esteemed actor Michael Irby, whose credits normally see him serving on the other side of the law as an officer or military man. But this ruthless yet subtle leader of the Mayans M.C. has the chops to reign over and rein in the bad boys of the Southern California chapter that his “primo” [cousin] Marcus Alvarez presides over as El Padrino [Godfather]. Irby’s unique background of being of Mexican American and African American mixed lineage has provided him with an all-American “mutt” look that lends him to many kinds of […]

Slight Spoilers Did you watch Mayans Mc last night on FX? We watched it again because we are addicted to showrunners and writers Elgin James and Kurt Sutter’s authentic 1%er continuance of the Sons of Anarchy saga. And despite the fact it is an outlaw story that stands alone, the Soa roots are deep and strong, as witnessed by a smattering of appearances in the premiere highlighted by Mayan chieftain Marcus Alvarez, played by actor Emilio Rivera. You may have noticed Alvarez was called El Padrino, Spanish for Godfather, by his fellow Mayans. This is a title of immense respect as […]

Heading into Mayans M.C., which is something of a sequel/spin-off hybrid, the only question that really matters is whether or not we’re heading into something that actually delivers on the treatment and world-building of Sons of Anarchy. With several years, and The Bastard Executioner, between Kurt Sutter‘s somewhat questionable end to that show and now, a new run with a motorcycle club might go anywhere. Luckily, if the first two episodes are a true indication, Sutter has taken the time to reevaluate the structure, pacing, and plot development in his writing, which means the show kicks off almost as though it had been written at the same time as the third season of SoA, but with a little more experience showing through. Just as important, Sutter built off one of SoA‘s most important devices, having a ton of balls in the air at once. As...

Sons of Anarchy was one of the biggest hits in the history of FX. The outlaw biker club drama’s second season was a classic. Katey Sagal was annually one of the Emmys’ most egregious snubs, and the show had a deep ensemble of actors like Charlie Hunnam, Maggie Siff, Ryan Hurst and Jimmy Smits to elevate what creator Kurt Sutter once described as “bloody pulp fiction with highly complex characters.”
Sons was also given to excess in almost every way: more plot twists, more graphic torture, more minutes per episode.

FX made our hearts skip several beats when it released the first teaser for the upcoming Sons of Anarchy spinoff series, Mayans Mc, and now, the first trailer finally dropped during Comic-Con on Friday. The trailer shows J.D. Pardo's character, Ezekiel "Ez" Reyes, joining the biker gang as a fresh prospect whose American dream turned to dust after a prison sentence. Fans also get a look at Marcus Alvarez (played by Emilio Rivera), the president of the club whom we all got to know as the antagonist in Sons of Anarchy. Watch the dramatic trailer above, and catch the show when it premieres on Sept. 4.

FX has released the first trailer for “Mayans M.C.” ahead of the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
The upcoming “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff focuses on the Hispanic rivals-turned-allies motorcycle club seen throughout “Sons of Anarchy.” The two-minute clip features J.D. Pardo’s character, Ezekiel “Ez” Reyes, a fresh Mayans M.C. prospect whose initial idea of the American dream had been ground into dust with a prison sentence years before.
With revving engines of Harley Davidson Road Kings growling in the background, the trailer opens up with a man telling Marcus Alvarez, the president of the club and once a recurring antagonist in “Sons of Anarchy,” that he can’t ask him to join the club unless he’s all in and really wants it.
“The club, the life, all of it. All in,” he says as the trailer cuts to Reyes riding down a dirt road in full leather.

It’s been more than three years since the end of “Sons of Anarchy,” but the next chapter is right around the corner. FX just released the first extended look at (and release date for) “Mayans Mc,” the latest series set in the same motorcycle club world as the network’s runaway hit.
Shifting its focus from Northern California to the state’s southern border, this new offshoot stars J.D. Pardo as Ez Reyes, a potential member of the group that gives the show its title. Wrestling with his tragic family history, Ez’s path brings him in conflict with his father Felipe (Edward James Olmos).
If that arc sounds vaguely familiar, “Mayans Mc” comes from co-writer and director Kurt Sutter, who created “Sons of Anarchy.” It’s his first return to TV since the fall 2015 cancellation of his previous series “The Bastard Executioner.”

The Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans M.C. is almost ready to ride into San Diego Comic Con in less than two weeks with a panel Sunday 7/22 at 1pm featuring the cast of the series and creator Kurt Sutter. To hype of the upcoming series, FX Network has released a new teaser featuring a cover of The Rolling Stones “Paint It, Black”.
The teaser looks very similar to the intro of Sutter’s hit series Sons of Anarchy, it’s possible that this teaser could be the part intro of Mayans M.C. just without the casting credits but it’s also possible that it’s just a nod at Soa.
The new spinoff series is set in a post Jax Teller world, where Ez Reyes is a prospect in the Mayan M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now Ez must carve out his new outlaw identity in a...

If you throw a motorcycle rally during a television festival, odds are high Kurt Sutter will show up.
That’s exactly what happened Friday night when the Atx Television Festival and the Republic of Texas Biker Rally joined forces to host a panel for “Mayans M.C.,” the upcoming FX drama series that’s a pseudo-sequel to Kurt Sutter’s “Sons of Anarchy.” Seventeen panelists, including Sutter, co-creator Elgin James, and star Jd Pardo, took the stage after screening the first 13 minutes of the pilot for a crowd of bikers and TV fans.
Sutter & Co. shared details about how the new show is connected to the “Sons of Anarchy” mythology, what fans can expect from the new biker gang, and who the series will be tracking. Below, IndieWire has collected the highlights from the panel — as well as a summary of those first 13 minutes — plus what we already knew about the series.

“Sons of Anarchy” spinoff, “Mayans Mc,” which is set to debut on FX in the fall, will be told from the perspective of the club’s latest prospect, Ezekiel ‘Ez’ Reyes (J.D. Pardo). In order to flesh out the world that the Mayans occupy, series co-creator Kurt Sutter wanted to “get the white guy out of the room as quickly as possible.” To do so, he recruited Elgin James, a mixed-race writer, filmmaker, and former member of the Fsu, a Boston-area organization classified by several law enforcement agencies as a gang.
“When you’re a kid, doesn’t matter what culture you are, and you’re kind of disregarded and diminished, you want a family, and you want to be seen,” explained James at the Atx Television Festival Friday. “There’s certain ways to go about that, and the quickest one is obviously crime. We’ve done the same thing here.
