The Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise is continuing – and it’s doing so without any of the leads from the previous movies. The new film in the series is aiming for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release, and when it reaches the screen, it will be introducing us to a new batch of characters. Those played by Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern are out, as are the ones played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. So far, we’ve heard that the new Jurassic World movie is set to star Mahershala Ali (Green Book), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. Now Deadline reveals that the cast is being rounded out with the addition of Luna Blaise.
Blaise is best known for playing Olive Stone on 62 episodes of the TV series Manifest.

We’ve been waiting a few years to see if and when the Marvel Cinematic Universe Blade reboot that’s set to star Mahershala Ali of Green Book is going to go into production – and while we continue to wait, Ali is in talks to join former MCU star Scarlett Johansson in the new Jurassic World movie that’s in the works at Universal! As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Ali tends to be very selective and usually avoids Hollywood blockbuster-type projects (aside from Blade), so getting him to sign on for a role would be a big “get” for this project.
If Ali’s deal closes, he’ll be sharing the screen with Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. The Oscar-winning actor is in talks to join the new “Jurassic World” sequel, which is in development at Universal. Once he signs on the dotted line, he’ll join the already announced cast of Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Rupert Friend.
Gareth Edwards will direct the yet-to-be-titled film, written by original “Jurassic Park” screenwriter David Koepp. Universal plans to release the action-adventure in theaters on July 2, 2025.
Plot details haven’t been unveiled, but this new installment is expected to ignite a new trilogy following the three “Jurassic Park” and three “Jurassic World” films. In 2022, “Jurassic World Dominion” wrapped up the sequel trilogy with $1 billion globally.
Since Steven Spielberg brought to life the original “Jurassic Park” in 1994, the prehistoric franchise has become one of Universal’s biggest properties over the last 30 years. Beyond its box office riches, “Jurassic” has...

Mahershala Ali, the two-time Oscar winner who was last seen in Netflix’s hit thriller Leave the World Behind, is in talks to join Scarlett Johansson in Universal’s new Jurassic World feature.
Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo are already on the manifest for the project that is stomping toward a production start in mid-June in London with Gareth Edwards in the director’s chair.
The studio is keeping plot details hidden in a can of Barbasol. David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), penned the script for the new installment.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, who have shepherded the modern Jurassic franchise, will produce through Kennedy/Marshall. Steven Spielberg, who kicked off the franchise with Jurassic Park, is exec producing through Amblin Entertainment.
Universal has set a theatrical release of July 2, 2025, which means it will be hustling like a velociraptor in postproduction.

Renée Zellweger (Judy) has closed a deal to reprise the role that brought her her first Oscar nomination in Universal Pictures and Working Title’s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Deadline has learned.
Others set to return in the film, from director Michael Morris (To Leslie), include Hugh Grant (Wonka) and Emma Thompson. Newcomers to the cast will include Chiwetel Ejiofor (Rob Peace) and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus).
Based on the beloved novels from Helen Fielding, and a previous column she wrote as the title character for The Independent, the rom-com franchise Bridget Jones centers on Zellweger’s endearing yet perpetually single character of the same name, examining her relationships with the dashing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and the roguish Daniel Cleaver (Grant), among others. Bridget Jones is heading back to the screen.
After months of quiet chess pieces moves, Universal Pictures and Working Title have finally put in place the talent for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the fourth installment of the British-based romantic film comedy series.
Renée Zellweger is set to return as the lovable but flailing at life Jones as is Hugh Grant as rapscallion Daniel Cleaver. Emma Thompson, who appeared in the 2016 entry, Bridget Jones’s Baby, is back as well while newcomers include Chiwetel Ejiofor and up-and-comer Leo Woodall, best known for his work in White Lotus season 2.
Michael Morris, who helmed the Andrea Riseborough drama To Leslie, will be sitting in the director’s chair when cameras roll for the feature, which adapts the best-selling 2013 novel by Jones creator Helen Fielding. Fielding also wrote the script.

The Jurassic World franchise is headed back to the big screen in 2025 with a brand new untitled movie, and THR reports that Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) is in talks to star.
Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla, The Creator) will be directing the new installment, with original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp returning to write the screenplay.
Jurassic World returns to theaters on July 2, 2025. Stay tuned for more.
The new movie is expected to usher in a brand new Jurassic Era with Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return. Two-time Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the Gareth Edwards-directed Jurassic World reboot at Universal.
This has been out there in the ether for some time, but it’s looking quite solid. This puts Johansson in business with another major movie franchise following her Black Widow days at Marvel, which resulted in the star suing Disney over the 2021 pandemic release of that movie, which the studio opted to go day-and-date on Disney+, thus siphoning box office grosses. The two sides ultimately settled.
Universal is assembling the project quickly for a July 2, 2025, release. David Koepp, who adapted the first Jurassic Park from Michael Crichton’s classic novel, is penning the latest iteration of Jurassic World.

David Koepp penned the script.
The confirmation of the movie filming at Sky Studios came from Universal’s sister company Sky, which today heralded UK government updates to the local tax credit and business rates.

On April 5th, 20th Century Studios will be giving a theatrical release to The First Omen, which serves as a prequel to the 1976 horror classic The Omen (watch it Here). Two weeks later, on April 19th, Universal will be releasing their latest monster movie, a Dracula’s Daughter project called Abigail. Today, the Motion Picture Association ratings board has announced that they have given R ratings to both of these horror films. The First Omen has earned its R rating for violent content, grisly/disturbing images, and brief graphic nudity. Meanwhile, Abigail has been rated R for strong bloody violence and gore throughout, pervasive language and brief drug use.
The First Omen was directed by Arkasha Stevenson, based on characters created by David Seltzer, with a story by Ben Jacoby. Stevenson crafted the screenplay with Tim Smith and Keith Thomas. Here’s the synopsis: When a young American woman is...

Kathryn Newton of the slasher Freaky can be seen on the big screen this weekend in the newly released horror comedy Lisa Frankenstein, and in just another couple months, another genre project she worked on, the Universal Monsters project Abigail, will also be reaching theatres. While doing the press rounds for Lisa Frankenstein, Newton took a moment to hype up a scene we’ll be seeing in Abigail – and it’s actually a scene we get a glimpse of in the trailer embedded above. A vampire dance scene.
Abigail is coming our way from Radio Silence, the filmmaking team that previously brought Ready or Not, Scream (2022), and Scream VI to the screen. Universal Pictures appears to be wasting precisely zero time in getting the "Jurassic World" franchise back up and running again. Even though we only recently learned that original "Jurassic Park" writer David Koepp has been working on a script for a new installment in the franchise, we've now learned that the studio has set a 2025 release date for the film. What's more, they're zeroing in on a big-name director to tackle the project in the form of David Leitch ("John Wick." "Deadpool 2").
According to Deadline, Leitch is in early talks to occupy the director's chair of the upcoming "Jurassic" film, which does not have a title yet but would be the seventh entry in the series overall. Leitch previously worked for Universal on the "Fast & Furious" spin-off "Hobbs & Shaw," which was a big success taking in $760 million at the global box office back in 2019. While Leitch has not yet signed on,...

Universal Pictures will release an all new “Jurassic World” event film on July 2, 2025, the studio announced on Monday.
David Koepp will write the screenplay, which is said to launch a new storyline. “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch is in very early talks to direct the next installment of the franchise.
While plot details are scarce, insiders say that the film will start a new storyline separate from the trilogy of “Jurassic World” films that starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and saw the eventual inclusion of “Jurassic Park” stars Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and B.D. Wong.
The Jurassic film franchise has proven remarkably resilient at the box office, so it is unsurprising that Universal wants to continue the series. Though box office returns have declined with each new “Jurassic World” installment, all three movies – 2015’s “Jurassic World,” 2018’s “Fallen Kingdom,” and 2022’s “Dominion” – managed to surpass $1 billion globally.

You can’t keep a good T-Rex down.
Although it’s been two years since the last time dinosaurs roamed the Earth in 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, Universal Pictures has hardly kept it biggest franchise trapped in amber.
The studio is deep into the development of an all-new Jurassic World movie and has David Koepp back at the keyboard. Koepp was the writer of the original 1993 Jurassic Park, famously directed by Steven Spielberg, and its sequel, 1997’s Jurassic Park: The Lost World.
The project, which has been flying under the radar, is far enough along, and the script in a well-liked shape, that the studio is whispering about a possible 2025 release date.
There is no director on board, but Frank Marshall, the veteran and celebrated producer who oversaw the Jurassic World trilogy, is back producing, as is another Jurassic vet, Patrick Crowley. Spielberg will executive produce via his Amblin Entertainment banner.

Twenty-seven years after the release of the blockbuster disaster film Twister (watch it Here), Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have finally put a follow-up on the fast track to release – but they’re not calling it a sequel. Scheduled to receive a theatrical release on July 19, 2024, Twisters has been described as a “new chapter” in what is about to become a franchise… and during an interview with Vogue, cast member Glen Powell – who can currently be seen on the big screen in the romantic comedy Anyone but You – confirmed that the film tells a standalone story. But even without any connection to the original film, he believes that it’s something that will be able to connect to everyone around the world.
Powell told Vogue (with thanks to Deadline for sharing the text) that Twisters is “definitely not a reboot. We’re not trying to recreate the story from the first one.
