Novakovic was born on 17 November 1981 in Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia. She moved to Australia in 1988, at the age of seven. Novakovic was initially interested in becoming a social worker or doctor, but after a significant set of events, she changed her mind and decided to pursue the performing arts. Novakovic studied at The McDonald College in Sydney, (where she was Dux of 1999) and graduated from NIDA with a BA in Dramatic Arts in 2002. She has a younger sister, Valentina Novakovic, who is also an actress, famous for having performed in the Australian soap opera, Neighbours (1985).
In 2003, Novakovic played Randa in the ABC mini-series Marking Time (2003), a role which won her an AFI Award for "Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Television Drama or Comedy". As an actor, Novakovic's film credits in Australia include Blackrock (1996), Strange Fits of Passion (1998), The Monkey's Mask (1999), Thunderstruck (2004), Solo (2005), and the Serbian movies Optimisti (2005) and Skinning (2010). From 2007 to 2009, she played Tippi in the TV series Satisfaction for Showtime Australia. Other breakout roles include: Drag Me to Hell (2009), Edge of Darkness (2009), Devil (2010), Burning Man (2011) and Generation Um(2012).
Theatre credits in Australia include These People, Away and Strange Fruit at the Sydney Theatre Company; The Female of the Species at the Melbourne Theatre Company; Woyzeck (Helpmann award nomination for best supporting actress in 2009), Criminology (Green Room award nomination for best actress 2007), Eldorado (Helpmann nomination for best supporting actress, 2006) and Necessary Targets at the Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne, Death Variations and Loveplay (Ride On) for B Sharp, Romeo and Juliet with Bell Shakespeare Company and Debris for Ride On Theatre (which received a Green Room nomination for best Independent production and best actress in 2006).
Novakovic also runs her own independent theatre company, Ride On Theatre Sydney and Melbourne) with co-director Tanya Goldberg. She was a producer and performer for the 2004 Ride On Theatre sell out season of "Loveplay" at the Downstairs Belvoir Street Theatre, and the 2006 Green Room nominated production of Debris (in which she was also nominated for best actress).
In 2008, she translated, adapted and directed Fake Porno in Melbourne, which was invited to be part of the Powerhouse season in Brisbane in 2009, and also received three Green Room nominations including best production. Outside of Ride On, she wrote and directed with Melbourne's Black Lung Theatre for the critically acclaimed production of Sugar at the 2007 Adelaide Fringe Festival. In 2010, Novakovic received an AFI nomination for International Award for Best Actress for her role in Edge of Darkness.
Novakovic landed the part of a beautiful prostitute-turned-law-student in Fox's series, Rake, starring Greg Kinnear. The show was canceled in May, 2014. She portrayed Clare Hitchens in The Hallow, a horror film set in Ireland and directed by Corin Hardy.
Earlier this year [2015], The Toronto Film Festival premiered her feature film The Little Death. Novakovic can be seen playing the lead in the ABC pilot Agatha, and has also booked a recurring role in Showtime dramedy Shameless.

Goran Visnjic is a Croatian American actor and producer, born in Sibenik, Croatia. He is married to Eva Visnjic (formerly Ivana Vrdoljak) with whom has three children. From an early age Visnjic started appearing in various theater plays. At the age of 16, he had his screen debut in the film Braca po materi (1988). In 1990, when the dissolution of Yugoslavia began, Visnjic was serving a one-year military obligation in the Yugoslavian Army (JNA). He left the JNA and returned to Sibenik, where he joined the Croatian Army in the defense of his hometown. After leaving the army, he moved to Zagreb and enrolled at the Academy of Dramatic Art. In his second year of studies at the academy, Visnjic was chosen for the title role in Shakespeare's Hamlet, which made him the youngest actor to play that role. Prior to joining ER (1994) in 1999, Visnjic played several minor roles in the films like The Peacemaker (1997), Welcome to Sarajevo (1997) and Practical Magic (1998). Rade Serbedzija was born in Bunic (Korenica) in 1946. Graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. Still a student, he started to play the leading roles in films and theater productions. He is remembered as an outstanding Peer Gynt, Don Juan, Georgij, Melkior, Oedipus, Hamlet, Leon and Richard III. He wrote and published four books of poetry and released four albums, as well as directed 12 plays (Balade Petrice Kerempuha, Kazu da je sova nekad bila pekareva kci, Judita, Hrvatski slavuj...). He shot more than seventy films (Rdece klasje (1970), Zadah tela (1983), Hajka (1977), Vecernja zvona (1986), Bravo maestro (1978), Variola Vera (1982), Una (1984), Usijanje (1979), Life Is Beautiful (1985), Cyclops (1982), Povratak (1979), Horvatov izbor (1985), Dreaming the Rose (1986), Kontesa Dora (1993)...), and starred in leading roles of several TV-series (Sam covjek, U registraturi (1974), Prosjaci i sinovi (1971), Bombaski proces (1977), Nikola Tesla (1977), Putovanje u Vucjak (1986)...). He joined Vanessa Redgrave to found a theater that produced plays such as Brecht in exile, Liberation of Skopje, Smoke, Opera Sarajevo. He took part in many charity and peace initiatives. After a world famous film Before the Rain (1994) where he played the leading role, he was cast in films by prominent directors of the world (P. Noyce, J. Woo, S. Kubrick, F. He lives in London.- A leading actress of theatre, film and TV in the former Yugoslavia, Mira Furlan emigrated to the U.S. with her husband, Goran Gajic, in November 1991, due to the intolerable political circumstances in her homeland. Ms. Furlan starred in the Warner Brothers TV series Babylon 5 (1993) as "Ambassador Delenn" (Sci-Fi Universe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Genre TV-series 1996 and 1997).
Her other American credits included the TV movie My Antonia (1995) directed by Joseph Sargent, the title roles in "Sophocles Antigone" at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Los Angeles (Dramalogue Theatre Award for Outstanding Performance in 1995) and Lorca's "Yerma" at The Indiana Repertory Theatre. She also appeared in Brecht's "Baal" at The Second Stage in Los Angeles and Shaw's "Don Juan In Hell" in which she co-starred with Edward Asner and Rene Auberjonois. Ms. Furlan was a member of The Actor's Studio.
Ms. Furlan's film credits include leading roles in over 25 films. She co-starred in Emir Kusturica's Cannes award-winning and Oscar-nominated film When Father Was Away On Business (2000). Films include: Three For Happiness, (Grand Prix, Valencia Film Festival), Beauty Of Vice, In The Jaws Of Life, The Loves Of Blanka Kolak, and Dear Video. In addition, Ms Furlan has appeared regularly on Yugoslav television, playing leading roles in numerous series and TV films. She received all the highest awards in her former country, both for her stage and film work, including two Golden Arenas (Yugoslav Oscars) for Best Actress.
In the former Yugoslavia, Furlan was a member of the Croatian National Theatre and a frequent guest star at major theatres in the whole country. Danica Curcic is a Danish actress born in Serbia. Curcic graduated from the Danish National School of Theatre in 2012 and was immediately hired to be part of the ensemble at the Royal Danish Theatre. In her very first season Curcic was cast in two major roles: in the title role as Lulu in director Katrine Wiedemann's version of Frank Wedekinds scandalous tragedy from 1894, for which she received a 'Reumert' nomination for Best Actress, and as the leading female in the monstrous music performance Frankenstein Reborn, featuring some of the most renowned Danish actors and musicians.
Before graduating Curcic appeared in the TV2 crime series Those who Kill (2011) and landed her first feature role as Veronika in Munch-Petersen's thriller Over the Edge (2012). In 2013 she appeared in two highly acclaimed Swedish produced TV-series: The Bridge ll (SVT1) and Wallander lll (SVT1).
In 2014 Danica Curcic was appointed Shooting Star at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival for her role as the female lead in Christian E. Christiansen's feature On The Edge. In Oktober 2014 she starred as the female lead Kimmie in the highly expected The Absent One, the sequel to The Keeper of Lost Causes, opposite names as Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Pilou Asbæk and Fares Fares. As well as Oscar winning director Bille August new feature film Silent Heart, which she has a leading role in. Also, Curcic appeared in Hella Joof's comedy All Inclusive. In this year Danica will be seen in the feature film Lang Historie Kort directed by May El - Toukhy, where she plays opposite Trine Dyrholm. And also director Daniel Dencik's new film The Gold Coast.
In the fall 2014 Danica played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet on the Royal Danish Theatre. For this portrait she received very positive response. A Serbian film director. Born in 1954 in Sarajevo. Graduated in film directing at the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague in 1978. During his studies, he was awarded several times for his short movies including Guernica (1978), which took first prize at the Student's Film Festival in Karlovy Vary. After graduation, he directed several TV movies in his hometown, Sarajevo. In collaboration with the screenwriter Abdulah Sidran in 1981, he made the successful feature debut Do You Remember Dolly Bell? (1981) which won the Silver Lion for best first feature at the Venice Film Festival. Their subsequent work, human political drama When Father Was Away on Business (1985) unanimously won top prize at the 1985 Cannes Film Festival as well as FIPRESCI prize and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language film Oscar. In 1989 he won the Best Director award at Cannes for Time of the Gypsies (1988), a film about the life of a gypsy family in Yugoslavia scripted by Gordan Mihic. His first English language movie, Arizona Dream (1993) starring Johnny Depp, Jerry Lewis and Faye Dunaway and scripted by his USA student, David Atkins was awarded the Silver Bear at the 1993 Berlin Film Festival. The very lovely, vivacious and smart-looking Jelena Gavrilovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and raised in nearby Lazarevac, where she have finished primary school and high school. She graduated acting in Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.
The first major thespian challenge came to Jelena Gavrilovic in 2010, when she was cast as a seductive Russian girl Nina in the erotically-charged drama directed by Darko Bajic, The Beautiful Blue Danube, for which role she was awarded at the Film Meetings in Nis, the most prestigious Serbian festival of actor achievements. After several TV roles, Jelena Gavrilovic came to attention of both Serbian and global audiences when she starred alongside Srdjan Todorovic and Sergej Trifunovic in the controversial thriller A Serbian Film (2010), directed by Srdjan Spasojevic. Due to her indisputable talent and great English, Jelena Gavrilovic started getting roles in foreign films that were being shot in Serbia. She merged her love of acting and singing in the second season of the TV show Your Face Sounds Familiar, where she was one of the most popular participants. Natasha Pavlovich is a Serbian-American powerhouse of an actress who has starred in notable Hollywood and international prime-time network television shows and films .Casting directors cast Natasha as she has a chameleon-like ability to transform into a variety of roles, speak in various languages, portray characters from all over the world, and has dramatic and comedic abilities. From playing the naive girl just off the boat from the old country to the hired assassin, Natasha has acted in hundreds of roles. She spoke Russian when she appeared as Marina Oswald, wife of Lee Harvey Oswald, on the hit TV show "Quantum Leap." She spoke Arabic as an Iraqi Lieutenant on JAG. She sang in Romanian as the nanny on sit-com "Pride & Joy," and spoke in French as a fashion designer on Dick Wolf's show "Players." While raising her daughter with longtime partner and ex-fiance, the late Tarzan actor Joe Lara, Natasha wrote many screenplays and received positive feedback from major studios. However, Natasha's writing career was temporarily halted as she had to spend a lot of time learning the law and how to represent herself in family court. A glimpse into her life during that period can be seen in the HBOmax documentary series, "The Way Down: God, Greed, and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin." Dragan Bjelogrlic is one of the greatest Serbian actors, directors, and producers. Apart from a successful acting career that lasts 40 years, in the last two decades, he also devoted to producing and directing movies and TV shows, consequently becoming one of the most recognized and successful cinematographic creators in the entire region. As an actor, he played over 90 roles on film and TV series.
He started directing in 2009. He directed three films that brought in 2.500.000 viewers to the movie theaters which makes him the most successful director in the Balkans in the last ten years. His last film "Toma" attracted over 1.100.000 viewers and became the most seen film in the cinematographic history of the Balkans. The film "Toma" closed the 2021 Sarajevo Film Festival.
He directed the "Black sun" series (2 seasons ) which is the first series of the region streamed on the "Amazon Prime" platform. His directorial debut "Montevideo, God bless you" was shown on over fifty international festivals (Moscow/Audience Choice Award, Warsaw/Audience Choice Award, Beijing/Grand Prix, Sao Paulo, Jakarta, etc.) and was the Serbian candidate for the Oscars. It won The Best Director and The Best Film award at the Serbian "FIPRESCI" association.
He produced six films that together won over thirty awards on various film festivals and five TV series. Dragan Bjelogrlic was born on October 10, 1963. After finishing elementary and high school in Belgrade, he enrolled at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDA). His first acting role in front of the camera was at the age of 15, as the character of Sava Jovanovic Sirogojno in the film "Bosko Buha" (1978).
After graduating from the FDA in 1989, he had a number of roles that made him a well-known actor and also recognized as one of Serbia's leading artists. He attracted a lot of public attention with the role of Slobodan Popadic in the series "Better Life" (1987-1990). After that role, he was in the TV show "Forgotten" (1990) and the films "The Black Bomber" (1992), "Full Moon over Belgrade" (1993), " Pretty Village, Pretty Flame" (1996). So far, he has played in almost 60 films, about 30 TV shows and dramas and 11 theater plays.
At the beginning of 1994, together with his brother Goran Bjelogrlic, he founded the production company "Cobra Film", which has produced some of the most famous theater plays, films, and TV series in Serbia and the Ex-Yu region.
A period drama Chain Reaction, is a big international project, with shooting planned for the middle of 2022. The Chain Reaction will be an emotional story that connects the Serbian and French people.
Two years ago, he established Master class at Faculty for media and communications, Singidunum University Belgrade. He is married to Maja Bjelogrlic with whom he has a daughter Mia and a son Aleksej.
