Composer, songwriter and pianist, educated in high school and a music student of Samuel Jospe, Milan Blanchet and Edward Kilenyi. Hewas a pianist for music publishers, then served with the French Ambulance Service during World War I. He wrote the Broadway stage scores for "Elsie Janis and Her Gang" and "Hello". Joining ASCAP in 1921, his chief musical collaborator was Dorothy Donnelly, and his popular-song compositions include "Smile, Legionnaire", "The Latin Quarter", "Sally of My Dreams", "A Pair of Blue Eyes", "The Village Belle", "Steppin' Along", "Beware of Love", and "Can't Get Along Without You".
