- Rob and Sean have no idea what the day holds in store for them when they walk onto the grounds of VanDusen Botanical Garden, where they will learn how to be gardeners. That "not knowing" also includes having no idea how they will be judged in their continuing head-to-head competition. But whatever the competition, both are confident they can win as both gardened as children with their respective mother. James Warkentin, superintendent of the Garden, takes them on a tour of the entire facility, and shows them some of the regular chores that need to be done at the Garden, including weeding, pruning, growing nursery stock, harvesting produce grown on site, and even selling merchandise at the gift shop. After that tour and changing into their gardening attire, Rob and Sean are told by James what their competition will be: what he calls a botanical sprint. They are asked to do some of these chores at various locations on site, the completion of each chore which gives them a clue as to the next location and the next chore. But as the Garden covers twenty-two hectares, the winner may be the person who paid attention to where everything was located and has the greatest endurance to run from place to place while doing some manual labor.
- Ten teams race from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador to Vancouver, British Columbia.
