- Rhapsody on the Rio Grande: A Confluence of Culture was awarded a Regional Emmy for "Documentary-Topical" from the Lone Star Chapter in 2017. Through interviews and music, Rhapsody on the Rio Grande: A Confluence of Culture is a powerful documentary that explores the impact of the Rio Grande on people, politics, culture, and music. The Rio Grande River has an ability to bring together diverse peoples. The musical score explores themes of US/Mexico border culture and history. The process of bringing the story to life took one year to create. Historians of the Texas/Mexico border and residents from Laredo were interviewed. The program took inspiration from an original music composition, "Rapsodia" written by TAMIU faculty member Dr. Colin Campbell.
