This was Leslie Howard's third film in Hollywood, and he was also doing A Free Soul (1931) and Five and Ten (1931) at the same time, sometimes working on one film in the morning and another in the afternoon. This led to Howard's dislike of Hollywood, film acting, and the studio system.
