A posthumous album from Aaliyah is reportedly in the works, according to the late singer’s former producer Jeffery "J. Dub" Walker.
Walker, who co-wrote “I Refuse” and “What If” off of Aaliyah’s 2001 self-titled third album, tweeted earlier this week (which was later deleted) that an unreleased song that he produced titled “Steady Ground” will be featured “on her upcoming album.” Following the tweet Walker revealed to YouKnowIGotSoul.com that the track was originally recorded for the “One In A Million” singer’s 2001 opus.
“It was really the first single after “Rock The Boat,” but my engineer was mixing the record and somehow lost the vocals,” he explained. “So the vocals that you hear are really just the demo vocals. The final vocals got erased, so yeah. So that’s why it didn’t make the album.”
Though there’s no official statement or release date set for the project,...

Fans of Aaliyah may be in for a treat, if one of the last producers to work with the late R&B superstar is to be believed.
Jeffery "J. Walker's tweet has since been taken down, but Soul Culture managed to take a screen grab before it was pulled.
"Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called 'Steady Ground' I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album," Walker's tweet read.

New York — Welcome to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Guns N' Roses.
The seminal rock band of the late 1980s and early `90s, best known for hits like "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "November Rain," leads the 2012 class of inductees announced on Wednesday. Also making the cut is the hip-hop trio Beastie Boys; rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers; the late singer/songwriter Laura Nyro; Donovan; and influential British rock group The Small Faces/The Faces, which included Rod Stewart and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
Nyro, who wrote such hits the 5th Dimension's "Wedding Bell Blues" and Blood Sweat & Tears' "When I Die," is the only female act to make it this time around. The hall passed on Donna Summer, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Heart and Rufus with Chaka Khan, who were on the ballot for 2012.

In pop music, five years between albums can seem like 500. But on the eve of the release of her self-titled third LP on July 17, 2001, Aaliyah — with two multiplatinum discs nailed to her wall and a fawning fanbase patiently waiting on her — had her stilettos firmly planted in the pop-cultural soil; the 22-year-old's grip on the game had only grown tighter since 1996's sophomore smash, One in a Million.
So that summer, the New York-born, Detroit-bred beauty took off on a dizzying promotional run for what she called her "most personal album" ("I'm hoping that people really feel me on this one," she told MTV in an interview). Among the to-do's dotting her datebook were in-store CD signings with fans, photo shoots for glossy fashion mags,...

It’s easy to get lost in the slew of new, digitally-tinged indie bands that offer little beyond what Mgmt already created four years ago. Oversaturation of a genre can cause some bands to get lost in the mix, which is a shame when the band is great. Case in point: Solid Gold, who concoct some of the most original, experimental synth pop sounds whole music world has to offer.
Solid Gold was formed ten years ago by a trio of friends at the University of Wisconsin. After a migration to equally chilly Minneapolis, Minn., and some lineup adjustments, Solid Gold finally began shaping their psychedelic persona. Originally sticking to a drum machine for percussive duties, the group eventually enlisted a real drummer, and added a slide guitarist for a little something extra to expand their sound.

Demi Lovato is working hard on her new, as-yet-untitled album. The first single from the Sept. 20 release, “Skyscraper,” dropped earlier this month and was a hit with fans and supporters of the recovering young singer, debuting in the Billboard top ten. Its buzzed-about video was directed by Mark Pellington, the man behind clips from Alice in Chains, Bruce Springsteen, Inxs, Nine Inch Nails, Public Enemy and, most famously, Pearl Jam’s 1993 MTV Vma Best Video-winning “Jeremy.”

While we wait around to see his new film Tabloid (which, between our recording this episode and its publication, has a new trailer – see below), we thought it appropriate to take a look at Errol Morris’s First Person, the two-season TV series Morris directed. Mike, Derek and Simon pick out three of the series’ seventeen portraits of the damaged, the brilliant and the disturbed: “The Killer Inside Me,” starring “serial killer groupie” Sandra London; “I Dismember Mama,” the tale of a man, a dream, and a frozen head; and “One in a Million Trillion,” the story of what happens when an immovable object meets Regis Philbin.

April 2006: EW reviewed the new Disney series Hannah Montana, giving it a C+. “Turns out Saved by the Bell was subtle! Father-daughter team Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus star as a dad and daughter, but stop those achy-breaky hearts midflutter – Hannah Montana is Miley’s show,” Gillian Flynn wrote.

Ne-Yo sang 'Champagne Life' & more at 2010 American Music Awards. The very brilliant, very soulful,R&B star Ne-Yo hit the 2010 American Music Awards stage last night to crank out a very entertaining 4 song set, which included: "Champagne Life," "One in a Million," "Telekinesis," and "Beautiful Monster." This guy really knows hot to perform. He started off his set with "Champagne Life," and I really like this song. The beat was right on point. Ne-Yo performed some great dance moves to the song. Then he went right into the mid-tempo "One in a Million" song where he displayed more slick dance moves and theatrics with his female backup dancers.

Although she was nervous about kicking off Sunday night's (November 21) American Music Awards, Rihanna took the "challenge" and ran with it. Sporting crimson spirals and a skimpy two-piece, the Barbadian songbird turned out energetic renditions of Loud tracks "What's My Name?" and "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" revved up with tropical touches like a drum circle and dancers in fringe-laden outfits. The songstress' hip-twisting, percussion-heavy set scored a standing ovation from the star-packed crowd.
Rihanna's set established the tone for the rest for the evening, which was marked by similarly epic stage productions. After picking up the award for Pop Music - Favorite Band, Duo or Group, the Black Eyed Peas...

Ne-Yo may be the ultimate gentleman, but the singer/songwriter was rough and rousing during his medley set at the 2010 American Music Awards on Sunday night (November 21). During his performance, the R&B artist sang parts of no less than three songs from his about-to-be-released album, Libra Scale.
Ne-Yo stormed the stage to his stirring hit "Champagne Life" before quickly transitioning to "One in a Million," for which he tossed his jacket aside and darted toward the object of his affection.
"Girl, you're so one in a million," he sang over the breezy track. "You are/ Baby, you are the best I ever had/ And I'm certain that there ain't nothing better/ No, there ain't nothing better than this."

Rihanna is on course to top the charts this Sunday with 'Only Girl (In The World)'. The track, which the singer performed on last week's X Factor results show, will be her fourth UK No.1 if she holds on until Sunday's official announcement. Elsewhere in the top ten, Alexis Jordan debuts at number three with 'Happiness', while Shakespears Sister re-enter the chart at number nine with 'Stay', following Cher Lloyd's live rendition of the song on Saturday's X Factor. Further down the chart, will.i.am and Nicki Minaj's 'Check It Out' currently stands at number 12, and Ne-Yo lands at 20 with 'One In A Million'. One more contestant has been given the boot on "Dancing with the Stars". While Bristol Palin and "Jersey Shore" hunk The Situation got another shot in the battle for the coveted mirror ball trophy, comedienne Margaret Cho was told to pack her dancing shoes during the result show on Tuesday night, October 5.
Though she was the one who brought "much laughter" to the show, the 41-year-old wasn't laughing when she learned she is the third celebrity getting the boot. In fact, she shed tears after the announcement. "I was surprised because I had the best teacher," she said as referring to partner Louis Van Amstel.
Margaret also opened up about what she thought about the judges' comments. "I thought the judges were really hard on me but I think you were really hard on me because you could see that I was a dancer...for real," she said. "And I thank you for that.

There is a big possibility that Ne-Yo could add Lady GaGa to the list of artists, other than Rihanna and Beyonce Knowles, he will have a collaboration with. When speaking to MTV News recently, the singer/producer opened up about his interest in joining forces with the "Bad Romance" singer.
"We've been talking to Gaga's people about some stuff," the 30-year-old singer admitted. Although there are talks already, he pointed out the set back. "Gaga's very difficult to get a hold of as of late, for obvious reasons. She's very busy," he said. "We've been talking to her people about doing some stuff."
Asked how would he apply his music to GaGa's, the R&B star spilled, "I have no idea! That's kind of the intriguing thing that I have no idea what that song would sound like." He added, "I don't know, but I feel like it would be interesting to see.

Miami — For Drake, even as the venues get bigger, his performances grow more intimate.
On the second date of his Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour — the sophomore headlining trek for the Toronto lyricist following his Away From Home outing earlier this year — Drake was ever the gentleman, as he catered to a single invited guest onstage at the James L. Knight Center, despite all of the shrieks from the sold-out crowd.
"Stay right there," he told concertgoer Veronica. "Let me take my time."
With that, Drake casually walked over to the young woman, took her hand and began slow-dancing with her. "Hold on," he shouted to the audience, pausing only a minute in. "If you have a camera on your phone,...

Ne-Yo has a crush on a woman in a music video for his latest single "One in a Million". Although the lady has repeatedly turned him down, he doesn't give up too easily. Busting some moves with his boys, he finally gets attention from the girl only before she turns on her heels as he is joined by three hot females.
Directed by SkeetScorsese / Wayne Isham, the music video features Ne-Yo as a man with superpower. Columbus Short, John Silver, Cliff McGhee and Galen Hooks play supporting roles in it. The clip ends with a cliffhanger in which his love interest yells at him, "What the hell's wrong with you?"

Now that’s what we’re talking about. For all the strutting that Usher and Chris Brown have been doing in videos lately, we’ve missed having some flat out dancing (so far Janelle Monae’s clip for “Tightrope” has the best dance moves of the year). Leave it to Ne-Yo to bring the dancy back (go ahead and groan, we are) in his new video for “One in a Million.” The song is only so-so, but the dancing is smooooooth. We don’t know why he’s pissed off his lady, but she’s mad and no amount of trickery (and we really mean trickery--he seems to...

On this day in 2001, the music world lost one of its true visionaries when Aaliyah, who was only 22 years old at the time, died in a plane crash along with eight other passengers after filming a music video in the Bahamas. Her tragic passing came just as she was releasing her finest album Aaliyah, which had come out only a month prior to hear death. Though she was only 22, she had still managed to become an industry veteran, as she appeared on "Star Search" at the age of nine and signed her first record deal at 12. She recorded her first album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number when she was only 14, and she had two Gold singles and a platinum album before her 16th birthday.
Because she was so young, the early part of Aaliyah's career was devoted to being something of a cipher, first for R. Kelly (who...

Nearly a decade has passed since R&B icon Aaliyah's death, and her impact is still being felt. On Wednesday (August 25), the ninth anniversary of the star's tragic death at age 22, Missy Elliott and Drake sounded off about the later singer's effect on music, and several of her celebrity fans took to Twitter to reflect on her enduring style and influence.
Funky songstress Janelle Monáe credits Aaliyah's unique look and mesmerizing footwork with keeping her on the straight-and-narrow. "Aaliyah was an inspiration," the Midwestern-born artist tweeted. "Always kept me & my friends in [Kansas City] out of trouble. Too busy in the mirror doing her 'swoop' bang & dance moves.:)"
Many stars co-signed each other's thoughts about the late hitmaker, who died in a plane crash in the Bahamas after shooting her "Rock the Boat" video with Hype Williams.

Jonathan says, “She’s so pretty, what else is she supposed to do?” Do you agree with him that Kendall’s bikini pics are age-appropriate?
Do you think the recent beach photos taken of the 14-year-old Kardashian sister, Kendall Jenner, are too risqué for her age? Well, a Very good friend of the Kardashian family, Jonathan Cheban, certainly doesn’t! “I don’t think the photos are too provocative,” Jonathan told HollywoodLife.com exclusively July 28 at the Project Runway season eight premiere party at the Empire Hotel in NYC. “She’s so pretty, what else is she supposed to do?
“One in a million kids look like that,” Jonathan continued. “The family is in entertainment, so it’s not like they found her in Ohio and she’s randomly exposing herself. … Why not show what you have?”

The world became a little more funky on this day in 1997, as it was the day when Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott released Supa Dupa Fly, her stunning, instant-classic debut that changed the way people thought about mainstream hip-hop. In dropping Supa Dupa Fly, Elliott — along with friend, producer and regular tag-team partner Timbaland — created a whole new universe full of syncopated beats, twitchy dance grooves and stream-of-consciousness lyrics that often flirted with the absurd.
Elliott and Timbaland had already been making waves behind the scenes before the release of Supa Dupa Fly, most notably on Aaliyah's One in a Million (she had also written and produced tracks for Jodeci, Swv and 702). Elliott had also become a coveted guest artist, dropping in on tracks and remixes for the likes of New Edition, Lsg and Mc Lyte. With the slate of daytime soap operas continuing to dwindle, there are a number of open spaces for the networks to fill. Since there are only so many 'Judge' shows that can fit into a schedule, these networks are looking for something different, yet comfortable, and reality show king Mark Burnett may have just the solution.
Teaming up with Trifecta Entertainment, distributor of shows like 'American Idol Rewind' and 'The Hills,' Burnett will create, produce and distribute a new reality-based, syndicated daytime program called 'One in a Million' for the 2011 season. Similar in scope to the Fox powerhouse 'American Idol,' the half-hour strip will feature will feature four contestants competing against each other, with a panel of three judges deciding on the day's winner. On Fridays, a weekly winner will be determined.
Each month, the weekly winners will compete in a semifinal competition.

Look out for actress Lily Cole, because she is hitting the scene big! As the star of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Lily plays Heath Ledger’s love interest. And she opened up to Marie Claire magazine about working with the actor on the last film he made before his death.
“We’d done three months’ work on Parnassus [before Heath passed]. He was an incredible man — kind, generous, talented. One in a million for sure — one in a billion, really. We shot one scene … two nights on Blackfriars Bridge in London, with the rain machine pouring down.
