Madame X (1937)
Reginald Owen: Maurice Dourel
Quotes
-
Raymond Fleuriot - Age 12-14 : Well, I suppose if I'm gonna be a lawyer, I've got to get used to people killing each other, huh, father?
Maurice Dourel : Let's feed him, then he won't be so bloodthirsty.
Raymond Fleuriot - Age 12-14 : That sounds good to me. I'm far more starving than bloodthirsty.
-
Raymond Fleuriot : But it all seems so hopeless, Father. What can you say for a woman when she won't speak for herself? What can you tell a jury when you've got nothing to say?
Bernard Fleuriot : Well, there's an old one I've used once or twice- simple, effective.
Raymond Fleuriot : What is it?
Bernard Fleuriot : If your client is a woman and the case is difficult, find some man and blame it all on him.
Maurice Dourel : Right, it's all our fault, and here's to the sweet, foolish women who go right on letting us do it.
[Fleuriot chuckles]
