Cass Warner, filmmaker, author and granddaughter of Harry Warner, co-founder of Warner Bros., has died. She was 76.
Her death was announced by her son and Yellowstone actor Cole Hauser on his Instagram page. “Her kindness, love, humor and amazing spirit will be missed by not only my family but the world. You have touched so many,” he wrote.
Cass’ grandfather, Harry Warner, was the eldest Warner brother, a Polish immigrant who co-founded the studio in 1923 after jumping into the early days of movie mania in 1905 with brothers Sam, Albert and Jack. The foursome created a cinematic powerhouse, a dream factory that was the social conscience of Hollywood, one that churned out timely and topical films about the Great Depression, the rise of fascism, the Red Scare and more.
Harry’s daughter, Betty Warner Sheinbaum, wrote of her father as “a very serious man. He was the company’s conscience and driving force.

Although he has personally competed for the Best Picture Oscar as a qualifying producer of just four films, Martin Scorsese is responsible for directing 10 of the top Academy Award category’s nominees, including 2024 contender “Killers of the Flower Moon.” This recent improvement upon his total makes him only the third filmmaker in Oscars history to helm a double-digit amount of Best Picture nominees. Including him, six people who were already credited with directing at least one nominee rose higher in the ranks this year.
The previous Scorsese films that vied for Best Picture are 2007 winner “The Departed” (for which he earned his sole directing trophy) and nominees “Taxi Driver” (1977), “Raging Bull” (1981), “Goodfellas” (1991), “Gangs of New York” (2003), “The Aviator” (2005), “Hugo” (2012), “The Wolf of Wall Street” (2014), and “The Irishman” (2020). Of the 10, he received producing notices for the most recent four and directing bids for all but “Taxi Driver.” The only ones who...

Valentine’s Week Releases At Indian Box Office (Photo Credit – IMDb)
We have entered Valentine’s week, and the lovebirds are celebrating it enthusiastically. While it’s the season of spending time with your loved ones, Bollywood never loses a chance to make it more special for lovers and capitalize on it. Over the years, we have seen several films arriving during this special week, and even this year, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is arriving in theatres. So, before its arrival, let’s look at how Valentine’s releases have performed at the Indian box office over the years.
Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is scheduled to be released in theatres tomorrow. Expectations are very low from it, and even the ground-level buzz is negligible. However, after the underperformance of Fighter, it’s said to be a crucial film, and there...

For the second time in six years, the Best Actress category looked to be on track to feature nominees from films nominated for Best Picture. But just like six years ago, it came up short — and it once again involved Margot Robbie.
Annette Bening (“Nyad”), Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”) and Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) made the Best Actress cut on Tuesday. Every film but “Nyad” is nominated for Best Picture. Gladstone, Hüller, Mulligan and Stone were all expected to get in, but Bening was in seventh place in the odds. Now a five-time nominee, she made it in over Robbie, who was in fifth place in the odds and headlines Best Picture nominee “Barbie” (Robbie is nominated as producer).

Hugh Jackman is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating actors in Hollywood but sadly, he hasn’t tasted any big box office success in a long time. But it seems that his tables might turn completely this year as he has a goldmine in his hands in the form of Deadpool 3. If all goes well, it can also create a history for Hugh!
Hugh’s last big success came in 2017
Hugh’s last remarkable box office success came in the form of The Greatest Showman, which was released in 2017. It did a business of $438.55 million globally and was declared a commercial success. Now, after a wait of so many years, Deadpool’s third installment seems to be a sure-shot winner.

Since the second Academy Awards ceremony in 1930, 73 people have received acting Oscar nominations for their debut film performances, yielding a total of 15 breakout wins. Conversely, the list of actors who have earned recognition for their final movie appearances is much smaller, featuring only 18 general and two successful examples. Those who belong to this club gained entry in a variety of ways, with some having voluntarily quit acting altogether, others having specifically stepped away from film performing, and a few having sadly not lived long enough to bask in the glory of their farewell nominations.
Since film acting retirement can never be absolutely permanent while a performer is still alive, only deceased individuals can correctly be counted as official members of this group. Although most currently living retired actors did not pick up Oscar nominations for their latest films anyway, the academy did smile upon one – Daniel Day-Lewis – on his declared way out.

There are many good things to say about TV shows from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Some of the best sitcoms aired during the period, and they did several things well. We love the holiday episodes served up during the TV era. Several shows brought amazing classic Thanksgiving episodes to viewers, many of whom were looking for an escape before, during, and after the holidays. We’ve picked out four classic Thanksgiving episodes you should watch this year.
‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ always served up solid holiday episodes
Everybody Loves Raymond was a show that was made for holiday episodes. The holidays, especially Thanksgiving, really highlighted the dysfunctional family dynamics of the Barones. While the series had many great Thanksgiving offerings, we think “No Fat” is a classic.

Justin Edgar, a well-established British filmmaker and advocate for disabled people, has pushed the boundaries for accessibility films with “The Letter,” a drama shedding light on a lesser known deaf community in Germany during the WW2.
Now in post, “The Letter” was produced by Edgar, who is hard of hearing. The director, Samuel Dore, writer, exec producers and several of the crew are deaf, as well as the lead cast.
Edgar recently directed the pilot “Kirkmoore,” a coming-of-age comedy series created and written by Andrew Bogle and commissioned by Fudge Park/BBC. Set in a residential college for young disabled students, the series is currently available on BBC iPlayer.”

After only four years of business, Kim Kardashian’s clothing brand Skims is now worth $4 billion.
“It has grown quickly, and we’re so proud of that,” Kardashian said in the New York Times. “We’ve had a really good flow of product launches.”
Kardashian founded Skims in 2019 with husband and wife Jens and Emma Grede. Jens is the CEO of the company, while Emma serves as the chief product officer.
The second oldest Kardashian sister said that the idea for Skims began when she couldn’t find shapewear matching her skin tone, noting most clothing skin tone colors were either “light nude or just black.”
“So I used to take all my shapewear and dye it with tea bags and coffee in the bathtub or in the sinks,” Kardashian told Time. “I really was just looking for a solution to what I hadn’t found out there.”

In the battle of the bomb vs. the bombshell, asks ‘Variety’, why not both? Plenty of moviegoers are making the decision to watch Christopher Nolan’s atomic drama ‘Oppenheimer’ and Greta Gerwig’s colourful romp ‘Barbie’ on the same day when the two tentpoles hit theatres on July 21, reports ‘Variety’.
With two weeks to go until the big day, AMC Theatres, the world’s largest cinema chain, is reporting that more than 20,000 AMC Stubs members have purchased tickets to watch ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ on the same day.
Though it was apparently significant enough for AMC to issue a press release, notes ‘Variety’, it’s hard to contextualise the statistic because there aren’t a lot of comparable data points for guests purchasing tickets to see multiple movies on the same day – at least not ones that are publicly available.

Celebrated director William Wyler directed 19 feature films in 1927 alone. To put that into perspective, Stanley Kubrick directed 13 in his whole career.
Wyler is one of the more towering figures in American cinema, holding the record for the greatest number of Oscar nominations for Best Director at 12, and has won three times for "Mrs. Miniver," for "The Best Years of Our Lives," and for "Ben-Hur." Additionally, his films have attracted more Oscar attention than any other filmmaker in history; 13 of them have been nominated for Best Picture, and he directed 14 Oscar-winning performances. If you are playing Trivial Pursuit and the question is about records at the Academy Awards, William Wyler is likely your best guess.
As one of the tentpoles of Hollywood's Golden Age, naturally, Wyler was afforded access to the best actors and actresses, and seemingly had his run of whatever projects he wanted. Throughout the 1920s, Wyler paid his...

Liam Neeson has ruled out a return to the Star Wars franchise, criticising its many recent spin-offs.
Neeson famously played Jedi master Qui-Gon Jinn in 1999’s prequel trilogy opener, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

“It was nice to do the little bit with Ewan [McGregor],” the actor stipulated about his short cameo in McGregor’s Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The Hitchcockian thriller Holland, Michigan is a project that has spent the last decade in development hell. Michael Jordan is not only arguably the biggest name in the history of basketball, but one of the biggest names in sportswear, as well. Have you ever stopped to wonder why that is? Ben Affleck and Matt Damon certainly have, as they teamed up with Amazon Studios to bring us "Air," which premiered its first trailer during Super Bowl Lvii. The trailer gives us our first look at the film's ensemble, including Damon's portrayal of Nike salesman Sonny Vaccaro and Affleck's version of Nike co-founder Phil Knight.
"Air," which Affleck also directed was listed as one of the best unsigned scripts in Hollywood on 2021's Black List. Its script, written by Alex Convery, was picked up by Amazon Studios in 2022. However, it was originally called "Air Jordan," and the reasoning behind the title change and the distinct lack of Jordan's likeness in the film has not been confirmed. Regardless, it's...

AMC Theatres looks like it decided to take a page from United Airlines, where AMC CEO Adam Aron was once a marketing executive: With the launch of its Sightline program to charge a little extra to reserve the best seats in the house, the world’s largest theater chain makes money on what users once had for free. What’s really going on is a lot more like LA Fitness: Create a revenue stream based on driving users to a membership that they’ll use less than they think.
Dynamic pricing is already part of moviegoing: In the U.S. it’s utilized for matinees, active military members, and people who are under 12 or over 60. Anyone who went to see “Avatar: The Way of Water” on IMAX proved they’re willing to spend more to get the best viewing experience. In international markets, premium-price seating has been the norm for years.

So Green has now shifted over to making her feature directorial debut on Sunflower – and she has cast Jurnee Smollett (Birds of Prey) in the lead role.
Green and Smollett previously worked together on the TV shows Underground and Lovecraft Country. Green created Underground with Joe Pokaski and developed Lovecraft Country from the Matt Ruff novel. Her first directing credit was on an episode of Lovecraft Country.

Steven Spielberg has clarified his choice to include a scene of Holocaust survivors visiting the grave of the real-life Oskar Schindler at the end of Schindler’s List.
The director’s 1993 film tells the true story of Oskar Schindler (played by Liam Neeson), an industrialist and member of the Nazi party who tries to save his Jewish employees after witnessing the persecution of Jews in occupied Poland during the Second World War.
Considered one of the best films of the 20th century, Schindler’s List won the Academy Award for Best Picture and remains revered for its important depiction of the Holocaust’s atrocities.
In a recent interview, Spielberg spoke about the poignant ending, in which the action moves to the present day and shows some of the real people helped by Schindler, and the actors portraying them, visiting Schindler’s grave in Jerusalem and placing stones upon it as a mark of respect.

This article contains Avatar: The Way of Water spoilers.
For our money, it’s the best action scene in a film stuffed to the gills with kaleidoscopic showstoppers. At the top of the third act, the luxuriantly paced Avatar: The Way of Water finally pivots away from its world-building wonders and back toward the plot. In the broadest possible strokes (which nonetheless remain depressingly plausible), it’s revealed that human capitalists have made a lucrative discovery: Pandora’s tulkuns (large whale-like creatures) contain a substance in their brains that is beneficial to the most wealthy of earthlings. The liquid therein apparently “just stops” aging.
Yeah, folks would kill for that. And in James Cameron’s long-awaited Avatar sequel, the folks who work for the Rda Corporation have been killing tulkun whales by the scores in order to obtain that precious fountain of youth elixir… that is until the tables are turned.
