- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: [speaking of his closeness with a former girlfriend] We were as one. Maybe less than that.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: [giving a jockey instructions before the race] Make sure to come in first. Then he'll be certain to win.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Try not to come in before the horse.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: [referring to her twin horses] They are twins alright. And they have the same father and mother too.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: [offering to help Jane carry a tray of food to a customer] Let me take that. That's awful heavy for anybody as pretty as you.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: Why, it's not heavy. They cook everything very light here.
- Bert Sedgwick: [meeting Jane for the first time] How do you do? Are you any relation of Pop Sweet?
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: I don't know about that, but he was my father.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: If my father were alive and he'd see what you've done to his horses, he'd turn over in his grave.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: [serving a tray of food at the drive-in] This is the third full-course meal you've eaten. If you keep up this way, you'll lose your appetite for sure.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: I'll eat hundred dinners, Janie, if that will get you talking to me.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: I don't think they have hundred dinners in the kitchen but I'll ask.
- Bert Sedgwick: I came around to see you. Made a few inquiries and found out that work here.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: You needn't have gone through all that trouble. I could have told you.
- Bert Sedgwick: Except I didn't know where to find you to ask.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: Well, if you would've found me, you wouldn't have to ask.
- Bert Sedgwick: [befuddled] Yea. Yea, that's right...
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: We'd better get out of the horse business or we will find ourselves out of the service.
- Jane Sweet, a dumb blonde: As long as you're in the Navy, I wouldn't worry about being out of the service.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Hey, you must be strong. You mind if I feel your muscles?
- Jane Sweet: [Horn honks] Oh, I guess he wants his food. Would you mind feeling my muscles some other time? I'm kind of busy right now.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Don't tell me it was Buffalo Bill. I was Buffalo Bill! Remember? And you were Sitting Bull that time in Pago Pago.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: [sees Jane for the first time] I thought you said she was a little girl?
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Let's don't quibble over technicalities. Man the guns and stand by for action!
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: Roger!
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Never mind Roger, we'll handle it ourselves.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: How about investing a couple of bucks in a sure-fire proposition? Guaranteed to double your money.
- Seaman McGonegal: Last time I fell for that, you doubled your money.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Be patriotic - a chance to reduce your bankroll and fight inflation.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: [speaking with a Southern drawl] Ma'am, sir, I can see in a glance that you all are a fair flower of the solid South. Didn't I all meet you last year at the Ken-tucky Derby?
- Millicent Temple: I've never been in Kentucky.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: That's funny, neither were we.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: [speaking with a Southern drawl] Your trainer was a Yankee rascal who was fixin' to bamboozle you.
- Millicent Temple: Vice President has such a nice sound to it.
- Bert Sedgwick: Yes. Struggling up from the top.
- Millicent Temple: Well, it never hurts to be engaged to the boss's daughter, darling.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: What are we gonna be this time, Benny? Buffalo Bill or a couple of oilmen from Texas?
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Haven't made up my mind yet.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: Well, whatever it is, please don't make me an Indian again. That time in Arizona I almost got scalped!
- Drive-In Manager: Do you think you could bring yourself to enjoy some other customers? For a change?
- Jane Sweet: Well, I'd like to but I'm busy right now. I've got a lot of people to wait on.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: What are you guys worried about? Shamrock'll win in a breeze.
- [looks to the camera]
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: There'd better be a breeze.
- Jane Sweet: Oh dear, you better order something. The manager's looking.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Breakfast 9 to 12, lunch 12 to 4, dinner 4 to 10, supper 10 to 12. Doesn't leave me much time for myself, does it? I'll take the full-cost dinner for 85 cents. On second thoughts, cancel the dinner and give me the 85 cents.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: She may be your best girl but she's gonna be my wife as soon as she says yes.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: He's looking at that horse like it was his sweetheart.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: He's also lookin' at Jane like she was his sweetheart.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Examine him closely, friend. You'll find the animal's legs as sound as a pre-war dollar.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: Benny and me just want to get even. That's all. We don't wanna do nothin' crooked. Do we, Benny?
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Well, let's not go overboard.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Are you, uh, any relation of Pop Sweet?
- Jane Sweet: I don't know about that but he was my father.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: And she was also his daughter.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: As strange a coincidence that ever came my way.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: That's very generous of you, Admiral.
- Bert Sedgwick: Colonel.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Oh, I beg your pardon. Colonel, I admire your ethics in the matter.
- Drive-In Manager: Couldn't you patronizes some other place?
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: What's the matter with this place? If you don't like it, don't knock it. The food's good, the girls are pretty, and the price is right. All they need is a new manager.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: You're beginning to get it straight and when you do, explain it to me. Now, Aaron's got weak ankles. So, Millicent, who doesn't know about Shamrock, he belongs to Jane and his ankles aren't weak, she wants Bert Sedgwick to give up racing, only she thinks Aaron is Shamrock and Shamrock thinks he's Sedgwick. Or, is it Sedgwick who thinks he's Shamrock? I get a little confused on that myself.
- Carhop: Your order, sir?
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: No leading questions, please. Just wrap yourself in a piece of lettuce between two slices of bread.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: What's the matter, Janey? If you're in trouble, you can tell us.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Yeah, and we'll get you in more trouble. You can count on it.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: The story of my life: somebody's always in love with my girl and she's in love with him.
- Timothy Aloysius 'Tim' Dunnovan: You just leave things to us, Janey.
- Benjamin Franklin 'Benny' Linn: Yeah. And we'll get 'em right; even if we have to do them wrong.
- Jane Sweet: Are you gonna try to kiss me?
- Bert Sedgwick: I'm afraid so. Does it show?
- Jane Sweet: Ah-huh.
- Bert Sedgwick: Its been sort of creeping into my mind I - hope you don't object.
- Jane Sweet: About creeping or doing?
- Bert Sedgwick: Both.
