- Marcia Barrington, a prospective, young high school teacher, is forced to abandon her teaching sex hygiene as part of her regular curriculum when the school principal, Mr. Price, objects to it. Also objecting to Mrs. Barrington's sex ed teachings are Wesley Nichols, a wealthy and powerful member of the school board. Alice, one of Marcia's former students, arrives to ask her to continue the classes outside of school. Soon, other students are showing up at her house asking them same. Marcia refuses unless they get written permission slips from their parents. But Alice and the rest of the studens forge their parents signatures, and Marcia doesn't see through the ruse the teens are putting on to her. However, Marcia's fiance, Brad Martin, disaproves of her teaching these seminars right out of their own house.
Meanwhile, more trouble arises when Randy Hunt, a wild tomboy youth, lies to her mother, Irene, by telling her that she spent the night at Alice's house when in fact she stayed out with Pike Grover and his gang of punks. Irene visits Wesley and mentions Marcia's classes that she holds at her house. Wesley then returns the visit under the pretext of looking at Randy's notebook on the class, whereupon Irene and Wesley soon begin a secret affair between them. Wesley's guilt causes him to presure Mr. Price into firing Marcia for good.
Meanwhile, Alice and her boyfriend, Ray Stanton, break up because Ray wants to tell Wesley of their love and Alice fears that her father will disapprove. When Ray begins to date Randy, Alice approaches and seduces Ray and then confesses to her mother. Irene soon discovers that she is pregnant because Randy had stolen her birth control pills and replaced them with saccharine. Irene decides to get an abortion, but has trouble finding a corrupt doctor to do the deed. Irene does get an abortion, but complications set and as she is hospitalized. Randy, fearing that her mother will die, rushes to her and asks for her forgiveness. Afterwards, Irene rejects Wesley who returns to his borning life with his wife.
Everything ends well when Mr. Price resinstates Marcia at the school, and Marcia and Brad get married. However, Alice and Ray decide to finish high school first before they get married themselves.
