In 1969, American International Pictures distributed this film on a double bill with Woody Allen's What's Up, Tiger Lily? (1966).
Quentin Tarantino used the film's signature tune, Paxton Quigley's "Had The Course," on the soundtrack of 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.'
Followed by the sequel 'Up in the Cellar' in 1970.
The first version of the screenplay was an entry in a film school screenwriting competition of the mid-60s submitted by Stephen Yafa whilst he was a student. It won, but he was told several times that censorship would prevent it from ever being turned into an actual film. It did take several years, but the resulting movie was a big hit.
