Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice himself, showed up at Warner Bros’ CinemaCon presentation for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Keaton, who already has seen the movie twice, said: “Truthfully, I don’t think it’s a secret anymore, but [Tim Burton] and I over the years kicked the notion around. Three or five years passed, we’d say, ‘What do you think?’ Finally we got it right. But also the script — it’s very difficult thing to write. Frankly, I followed his lead. I’ll tell you this, though, it’s really f*cking good. In fact, it’s great.”
Burton on why he made the movie: “I started thinking about it in the sense [that] I identified with the Lydia character being the weird teenage character. [I thought,] ‘What happened with the Deetz family?’ It’s three generations of Deetz women. I used the experience of as you get older. I just got really interested in that.

Catherine O’Hara has joined the cast of The Last Of Us Season 2.
HBO is staying tight lipped about her casting for now, saying only that O’Hara will be guest starring in an “undisclosed role.”
O’Hara is the first guest star to be announced after HBO made several major additions to the cast for the second installment of the post-apocalyptic drama based on the video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog for PlayStation. HBO recently cast Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, and Young Mazino as Jesse.
The series has become somewhat of a guest star showcase, as Season 1 featured the likes of Nick Offerman, Storm Reid and Murray Bartlett among its guest stars. The first season dominated the guest acting categories at the 75th Emmy Awards with seven nominations. Reid and Offerman took home the trophies. Guest roles in The Last of Us...

Ingmar Bergman had Liv Ullmann. Woody Allen had Diane Keaton and Christopher Guest had Catherine O’Hara — that’s how actor John Michael Higgins summed up the stature of O’Hara’s work on screen with Guest and other top directors during a wide-ranging Q&a held Saturday as part of the sixth annual USC Comedy Festival.
The Emmy-winning O’Hara was honored with the Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie Masters of Comedy Award at the festival, in recognition of her long, and often underrated, career in film, TV, stage and sketch comedy.
The Oakie Foundation honors the lives and work of two comedy legends, Jack Oakie and Victoria Horne Oakie. Jack Oakie won a supporting actor Oscar for Charlie Chaplins’ 1940 satire “The Great Dictator.” Victoria Oakie was a comedy trouper who had supporting roles (as Victoria Horne) in numerous films, most memorably opposite Jimmy Stewart in 1950’s “Harvey.”

The Lady from Shanghai
Blu-ray
Kino Lorber
1946 / B&w / 1.33: 1
Starring Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth, Everett Sloane
Written by Orson Welles
Directed by Orson Welles
To those who know him, Michael O’Hara “… has got a lot of blarney in him.” That also applies to Orson Welles, the man who created that smooth-talking Irishman and plays him in The Lady from Shanghai, a labyrinthine guessing-game written and directed by Welles in 1946. Welles’s enigmatic co-stars include Everett Sloane as Arthur Bannister, “the world’s greatest lawyer or the world’s greatest criminal”, and Rita Hayworth as Bannister’s wife, an unknowable beauty hiding behind a plutonium hairdo.
Hayworth is not the only one wearing a disguise—like any noir, everyone has two or more personas, but Welles’s film is no ordinary noir, and for better and for worse, The Lady from Shanghai is no ordinary movie. The film, both haphazard...

Joe E. Tata, the prolific and versatile TV actor whose most enduring role was as Nat Bussichio, the owner of the Peach Pit on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” has died. He was 85.
“90210” castmate Ian Ziering relayed the news on Facebook, and TMZ later confirmed his death, saying Tata had battled Alzheimer’s since 2014 (the year of his last credited role).
Ziering, who played Steve Sanders on the ’90s show, wrote: “Joey was truly an Og, I remember seeing him on the Rockford files with James Garner years before we worked together on 90210. He was often one of the background villains in the original Batman series. One of the happiest people I’ve ever worked with, he was as generous with his wisdom as he was with his kindness. Though the peach pit was a 90210 set, It often felt like the backdrop to the Joe E Tata show. The...
