IATSE is calling on Congress to pass a wide range of legislation to protect its members and the rights of working men and women across the country. Known as its Federal Issue Agenda, the wishlist faces an uphill battle with Republicans now controlling the House of Representatives.
Calling for the elimination of so-called “right-to-work laws” – which in 28 states make it harder for workers to form unions and collectively bargain – IATSE is urging Congress to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize Act and to increase funding for the National Labor Relations Board.

Stars: London May, Mya Hudson, Hannah Pierce, Henry Mortensen, Victoria Goodhart | Written by Christian Ackerman, Chuck Foster | Directed by Erik Boccio
After an injured young woman, Kiera (May Hudson) takes refuge in his secluded home, gruff recluse Reed (London May) must fight off a bloodthirsty cult and an insatiable priestess (Hannah Pierce) to save both of their lives. A battle to survive becomes a gripping race against the clock to escape a perverse ritual of blood and flesh…
Night of the Bastard opens in 1978 with a prologue that feels like it’s stepped straight out of that era – not only in terms of visuals but also in terms of the brutality of what occurs. The film plays out like a home invasion movie come siege movie a la John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13, but stylistically by way of 70s classic Race With the Devil – the same dusty desert, a...

The FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort has already turned up some gold, of the comedy variety.
Late-night comics Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Trevor Noah took their turns poking fun at the twice-impeached former president, finding common ground in the sheer number of Trump-related investigations. Said Noah on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, “This raid has nothing to do with January 6th or tax fraud or giving the White House plumber Ptsd.” Referencing a ubiquitous comedian, Noah continued, “I’m amazed that Trump has time for all of these crimes….He’s like the Steve Harvey of crime.”
Over on NBC’s The Tonight Show, Fallon took a similar approach: “You know that you’ve done some shady stuff when the FBI shows up and you’re like ‘And which investigation is this regarding? Oh, right this way, right this way.’” He followed that with a...

ReviewLokesh must be applauded for not wasting time on fanboy tributes to the superstar on board, and sticking to telling the story. Sowmya RajendranScreengrabLokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram is the kind of experiment that Tamil cinema hasn’t seen in a long time. While Mani Ratnam has managed to pull off quite a few multi-starrers, thanks to many in the industry wanting to tick the ‘worked in a Mani sir film’ box, it’s unusual for big male stars to share screen space generously otherwise. Not only does it inflate the budget too much, it’s difficult to please their respective fanbases. But let’s look at the names in Vikram’s cast: Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil and Suriya (in a cameo). All of these actors have demonstrated in their previous body of work that they’re more interested in being performers than stars. They’ve broken rules, tried out new things,...

The last film class I took in college was titled "Violence in American Cinema," and the curriculum provided by the remarkable Roberta Di Carmine, Ph.D. included two films by "Bloody" Sam Peckinpah, "The Wild Bunch" and "Straw Dogs." While every class inspired heated discussions -- imagine Midwest college kids debating Quentin Tarantino -- none were as passionate as the ones that surrounded "Straw Dogs." Released in 1971 (and remade in 2011), "Straw Dogs" follows mild-mannered intellectual David Sumner (Dustin Hoffman) and his English wife Amy (Susan George) as they relocate to Amy's hometown of Cornwall. If endless sequels, prequels, reboots, spin-offs, teamups, callbacks and shout-outs have put you off the idea of the “shared cinematic universe,” you haven’t been spending enough time in Karatas, world cinema’s smallest, wildest, weirdest crossover microcosm. The fictional village in rural Kazakhstan, populated exclusively by the clueless, the cowardly, the comic and the corrupt has provided a stark, absurdist backdrop for most of prolific Kazakh director Adilkhan Yerzhanov’s films, including his newest, the dark, funny, freaky “Assault.”
It may not be the most essential Yerzhanov entry — it’s not the darkest, funniest or freakiest — but “Assault” is a droll refresher on his singular sensibilities, and his borderline miraculous ability to maintain a coherent tone while narrative logic and consistency are highly expendable commodities. Good taste, too, can be as casually tossed out as one of the stuttered insults that make up about 80 percent of the dialogue. Here,...

Continuing where he left off with “Yellow Cat”, Adilkhan Yerzhanov continues on his intelligent, devilishly funny genre path with another deadpan satire that also manages to make a number of sociopolitical comments.
“Assault” is screening on International Film Festival Rotterdam Nederland, Rotterdam, 11/01/2021, iffr vlaggen op de boompjes, foto Jan de Groen
While the people operating a school in Karatas are completely immersed in their own issues, a group of masked figures with machine guns enter the building completely unbothered, taking the pupils hostage and executing one of them. Math teacher Tazshi, who has just had a fight with his ex-wife who had come to pick their son from their classroom, does not only fail to even try and save his students, but the only thing in his mind is how to save himself. After the rest of the “survivors” learn the truth, and a mild beating, he takes charge of...

French actress Marine Vacth ("Double Lover") poses as 'the face' of Chanel's "Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation" campaign:
"..with a subtle range of easy-to-wear beiges, 'Healthy Glow' frees women from their fears of using foundation and embellishes every skin tone with a lasting healthy glow.
"The soft and comfortable texture glides over the skin and melts away.
"It adapts to the shape of the face and invisibly follows its every movement. The texture becomes imperceptible and allows the skin to breathe freely.
"The complexion looks evened-out and enhanced with a sheer finish. As if revived, it shows off the freshness and radiance of beautiful skin in the great outdoors..."
Vacth began her modeling career at the age of fifteen, then started acting at twenty. She played 'Tessa' in Cédric Klapisch's "My Piece of the Pie" and in 2011, she succeeded Kate Moss as 'the face' for "Yves Saint Laurent...

Henry (Dakota Shapiro) has had a difficult life. The abuse he endured from his father made it so he can barely leave the house. Talking to strangers (let alone women) is a non-starter. And he can’t even open the door to his dad’s old room for fear of thinking he might somehow be inside despite promising never to come back. Henry’s existence is thus confined to the den. He sleeps on the couch, takes late-night walks to stay isolated, and sublets his old room to Eric (Luke Cook), an aspiring actor from Australia, to pay the bills his lack of a job cannot. So his days are spent alone on his computer with “friends”: six unsuspecting women he watches through hacked webcams.
He’s the so-called Eye Without a Face, as writer-director Ramin Niami’s latest is titled. Henry “cares” about these women and believes himself...

Slick, unsettling Danish law-enforcement thriller “Shorta” — or as it’s been generically retitled in the United States, “Enforcement” — opens with a familiar “I can’t breathe” moment as a team of police scramble to restrain a 19-year-old Muslim man, suggesting that what happened to Eric Garner in Staten Island, and to George Floyd in Minneapolis, is hardly an America-specific problem. Like those men, Talib Ben Hassi dies from complications of the police chokehold, and as in those cases, the community rises up against the establishment that was sworn to protect it.
In other words, “Shorta” begins where films such as “Do the Right Thing” and “Les Misérables” abruptly stopped. That’s an awfully ambitious (if somewhat foolhardy) setup for helmers Anders Ølholm and Frederik Louis Hviid to construct their debut feature — a thriller that’s both a relentless adrenaline rush and a social-issue Rorschach test for all who watch it.

Weston Cage Coppola is a Russian terrorist taking veterans hostage in this unthrilling micro-budget Die Hard rip-off
Although the title invokes John Carpenter’s 1976 classic Assault on Precinct 13, one of the all-time great pulpy siege movies, this tale of a hostage-taking at a Veterans Administration hospital in Buffalo, NY, is all pulp, no greatness. In fact, the premise is not so much about an assault as an infiltration that one fortuitously skilful character, who just happens to be around at the time, accidentally foils when the bad guys threaten his wife and child’s safety. In other words: Die Hard, but with a teensy budget that appears to have mostly been used on a visual effect that makes the many shots of bullets entering bodies look like puffs of red dust exploding like scarlet glitter bombs. It’s quite distracting in its shabbiness.

This Attack on Titan review contains spoilers.
Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 7
“These are the demons of Paradis Island…”
Who are the good guys in this war again?
Attack on Titan has been asking this question all season, but it’s beautifully articulated now that a full-fledged war is in swing between Marley’s best and the “Eldian Devils.” The previous episode begins this conflict, but every single character that the anime has carefully built over these four seasons comes into combat with each other in “Assault” and it’s just fantastic.
This is a very busy installment and it’s likely to be a favorite for many since so much of it is just Titans wailing on each other in a bid for supremacy. It’s the ultimate, heightened version of the series’ original premise and it’s every bit as satisfying as it should be. Attack on Titan...

Marvel fans can't wait to see the Grandmaster and The Collector together and thanks to California Adventure's Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! you can! Both of the characters have been brought together on canvas. It was previously confirmed that these two characters are brothers in the McU.
The Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! experience just opened at Disneyland this summer and has fans lining up through the Collector's massive facility. Artist Ryan Meinerding shared one of the paintings fans will see that is on display at the attraction. It depicts the Collector (Benicio Del Toro) sharing a game of space age checkers with the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).

Disney’s new Marvel-themed attraction, Guardians Of The Galaxy—Mission: Breakout!, finally opened at the California Adventure park this weekend, with The Hollywood Reporter saying that some fans had to wait in line for as long as seven hours just to experience what is essentially a glorified new coat of paint on the old Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror ride. Of course, it also has a brand new narrative component, with Rocket Raccoon leading guests through the fortress of Benicio Del Toro’s Collector from the first Guardians movie in an attempt to rescue the other Guardians from a trap while listening to classic rock songs and enjoying various Marvel easter eggs, so maybe the riders willing to wait all day just to spend a few minutes flying through space actually just wanted to avoid spoilers.

This reporter was not feeling the Disney magic. Disneyland's new Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: Breakout! ride opened in place of popular drop ride the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Saturday. Several reporters got a sneak peek of it. One of them, Cory James of ABC30 Action News in Fresno, California, found it particularly terrifying. He was filmed riding the ride live on TV Friday and could not stop screaming. At one point, he looked like he was about to pass out. James said on Good Morning America Saturday that he had never been to the theme park before, so he had no idea what to expect from the ride. "I'm not from California, so this is...

While many are still in mourning over the loss of Tower of Terror at the Disneyland theme parks, there are also a great deal who are very excited to get to try out the new Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout! ride. And if the ride itself doesn't impress fans, there are awesome easter eggs throughout the line to give you something to do while you wait.
Two of the Easter eggs that people have caught on to pretty quickly have been some "Atlantean Artifacts" found at the bottom of the ocean hinting at a possibility of having Namor show up sometime in the future in the McU. Another one that was super exciting that have people talking is the Asgardian War Hammer that looks an awful lot like Beta Ray Bill's Hammer Stormbreaker. I was a huge fan of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride at Disney California Adventure, so when visiting Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! for the first time Thursday for a media-only preview, I was somewhat ambivalent. After all, the new Guardians attraction replaced the classic ride, and not everyone was happy about it.
I quickly changed my mind.

Disneyland is set to open a brand new attraction this weekend called Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! This was formally the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror but was re-themed for obvious reasons. It will feature the characters from the film including Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket. One other interesting character it will feature will be Teneleer Tivan otherwise known as The Collector and as you queue up to get on the ride you get the opportunity to check out some of the items from his collection.
IGN got a first look at the ride and got to see some pretty interesting items while in line. There are only a few days until Disney's new ride Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! opens and now we're getting our first look inside the ride. It used to be the Hollywood Tower of Terror, but has been since been made over and updated to look like the Collector's fortress, from the first installment of The Guardians of the Galaxy film. A new video from Disneyland gives us a look at the Collector's extensive collection that will be on display for guests as they stand in line for the ride.
Like the Tower of Terror of old, the ride will be similar in that guests will drop from great heights. Slashfilm describes the plot behind the ride:
"Taneleer Tivan (aka The Collector) has built this fortress on Earth and opened it up for tours in order to show off his collection to Terrans (aka Earth inhabitants)."

You've probably seen Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol.2 by now, and Disney Parks has finally given us a promo for the highly anticipated Tower of Terror re-vamp, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! It's starts off like any run-of-the-mill Disneyland promo, when Rocket interrupts the transmission and begs for your help. He gives very little detail besides saying the Collector has captured the other guardians and he needs you to carry out their escape.

As much as I love Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm still upset that Disney replaced The Twilight Zone-themed ride Tower of Terror with Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout!. An official photo recently surfaced that you can see above, and Disney recently invited some journalists to take a "hard hat" tour of the new attraction.
I don't know about you, but that building is an eyesore. I'm not a big fan of the ugly design, but there's apparently a reason for it. Danny Handke, creative director for the project from Walt Disney Imagineering told the Oc Register that, "It embodies the spirit of 'The Collector,' a villain in the movie. It’s weird, it’s bold, grandiose and it’s arrogant, like the character." Benicio Del Toro reprises his role for the ride, as does Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana and more. He goes on to say:
