Sex & Nudity
-
- There is a scene where Tom and Daisy are in bed, supposedly exchanging gifts.
- Several characters are engaged in adultery.
Violence & Gore
-
- A man slaps a woman. Her nose bleeds.
- A dead seagull is seen.
- A woman raps on a window so hard that her hand goes through it. She is shown sucking on her bloody hand.
- A man and a woman grapple.
- A woman is killed when she is struck by a hit-and run driver. This is offscreen, but we do see her dead body, graphic details about what happened, and quite a bit of blood and a dent on the car.
- A fencing lesson. DELETE: this is not violence or gore, any more than someone learning to drive is. We know a sword or a moving vehicle can cause harm; it only becomes violence when they actually hurt someone.
Profanity
-
- At least three "damns", one "bastard," and one "bitch", (3) "goddamn", (1) Chr*st. Also, some young boys write the word "shit" in charcoal on a stone bench.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- Despite being set in the 1920s, the main characters periodically engage in the drinking of wine, liquor, or champagne (both at Jay's parties and during small get-togethers.) Also, there is a lot of smoking, either by cigars or cigarettes.
