Re-released theatrically in 1982 as part of a multi-film package called "5 Deranged Features". Also on the bill were Dracula vs. Frankenstein (1971) (under the title 'They're Coming to Get You'), The Wizard of Gore (1970) (under the title 'House of Torture'), Shriek of the Mutilated (1974) and The Corpse Grinders (1971) (under the title 'Night of the Howling Beast').
This film's theatrical poster was painted (and signed) by Ralph McQuarrie, who went on to become a celebrated conceptual artist/designer, most notably in Star Wars, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, and Cocoon. In addition to the poster for Creature From Black Lake, McQuarrie also designed and painted theatrical one-sheets for several other Howco International films in the early 1970's: The Legend of Boggy Creek, Bootleggers, Winterhawk, The Winds Of Autumn, and The Town That Dreaded Sundown.
The teeth for the creature were dentures made by a local dentist.
Shot in September and October of 1975 under the title "The Living Legend."
