When it was announced that Amazon was set to produce The Rings of Power, a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, fans were ecstatic to revisit J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. But despite opening to a record 25 million viewership, the highest in the streaming platform’s history, the sentiment surrounding the new addition to the iconic IP was pretty mixed.
Despite winning over fans with its eye-popping visuals, with many deeming it a worthy addition to the iconic franchise, its naysayers accused the show of pushing a woke agenda. And with the trailer for Season 2 set to be unveiled soon, a similar discourse has popped up once again.

Just days after Warner Bros. announced “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for a Gollum” as a new live-action film for 2026, Rohan has mustered its forces for an epic first look at “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.” We finally have a taste of the animation style of the Warner Bros. feature, directed by anime filmmaker Kenji Kamiyama, in images released in advance of the presentation for the film at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. See the images below.
The anime film will be set 261 years before the events of the live-action “The Lord of the Rings” movies, and it does not have the involvement of Peter Jackson, though his producing partner Philippa Boyens will be part of the presentation at Annecy. “War of the Rohirrim” will concern itself with an event where the villainous Wulf, a lord of Dunland, seeks revenge...

Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

Zack Snyder is one of the most prolific filmmakers of today’s age. Having created epics like 300, Army of the Dead, Justice League, and more, the director is known best for creating action-packed, grim tales of adventure that are often characterized by intricate details. Whether it is his independent features or the Snyderverse, Snyder’s movies are a true treat to audiences who love bold and gritty themes.

While Snyder’s imagination and ability to craft fictional worlds are quite impressive, the director’s Snyderverse shares unmistakable similarities with Peter Jackson’s The Lord of The Rings franchise. The two different worlds have several distinct connections that are quite baffling.

The Lord of the Rings franchise is a classic lore of good vs evil which follows heroes who embark on a perilous quest to save the world from darkness. It is all thanks to J.R.R. Tolkien’s creativity that curated a detailed world with diverse mythologies. While the novel series gained quite a bit of attention, it is Peter Jackson who put the stories in the cinematic format to reach wider audiences.

Peter Jackson has a wide range of successful projects under his name, from blockbuster franchises like The Lord of the Rings to cult classics like Meet the Feebles and Dead Alive. And his journey to becoming one of the most proficient filmmakers in the industry began with the 1987 film Bad Taste, which paved the way for his illustrious career in the film industry.

Viggo Mortensen will forever be synonymous with his role in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The actor played the role of Aragorn in all three films and was the sworn protector of Frodo and Sam in their journey from the Shire to Mount Doom. The actor won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast In A Motion Picture for The Return of the King.
While the final film in the trilogy made history for being the first fantasy film to win Best Picture at the Oscars, Mortensen seemed to have a less-than-stellar opinion about the movie. He mentioned how the last two films leaned more towards CGI and visual effects as opposed to the practical effects of The Fellowship of the Ring, which seemed to have carried over to Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy.

It was 1957 when screenwriter Morton Grady Zimmerman approached J.R.R. Tolkien on the subject of creating an animated film out of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The famed British author expressed all of his sentiments and criticisms about the script in a series of letters.

It turns out, he was not fond of the interpretation of his books in the said script. He also accused Zimmerman of never reading the books, only skimming through them, and composing the screenplay based on the fragments he remembered from the novels.

Did you see that plot twist coming, Precious? Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced the news that we'll be returning to Middle-earth in a new movie about Gollum, everybody's favorite fish-eating gremlin, tentatively titled "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum." Despite the usual excitement that follows any developments about such popular material, it's fair to say that the collective reaction to this reveal mostly amounted to: "...Him?" Compared to the likes of the classic "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the widely-panned "The Hobbit" movies, the animated "The War of the Rohirrim" film, and even Prime Video's "The Rings of Power" show, a prequel following an awfully brief chapter in the centuries-spanning life of pathetic ol' Sméagol, of all characters, doesn't quite conjure up the same images of epic storytelling and sweeping adventures fans have come to expect from their beloved franchise. It certainly helps that actor...

How do you like that? Orlando Bloom and I have something in common: we’ve both tried to erase Wolfgang Petersen’s Troy from our memories. Well, not exactly. While participating in Variety‘s “Know Their Lines” video series, Bloom drew a blank when asked about a line by his Troy character, Paris. Bloom thought the dialogue came from his Kingdom of Heaven character, Balian de Ibelin, or Legolas Greenleaf, his elven archer from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. To his surprise, the line came from Troy, a movie he’s tried to wipe from memory.
“Oh my god, ‘Troy.’ Wow. I think I just blanked that movie out of my brain by the way,” Bloom explained. “So many people love that movie, but for me playing that character was just like [slits throat]. Am I allowed to say all of these things? I didn’t want to do the movie.

The Lord of the Rings is unarguably one of the most popular lores in the history of entertainment, massively loved and approved by both fans and critics. Based on the novel series of the same name, the $5.8 billion trilogy shouts one too many reasons for fans to love it, from its breathtaking storylines brought to life to the tremendous portrayal of all the characters.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
But those aren’t the only reasons to love the widely successful franchise, for there is one even more commendable reason why the Lotr saga deserves all the love it can get: The fact that the infamous former film producer Harvey Weinstein actually demanded a big, fat paycheck for the live-action lore, but the franchise bluntly refused to pay him the same!

If Warner Bros.’ newly announced The Lord of the Rings movie idea The Hunt for Gollum sounded a bit like fan fiction, that’s because it already is.

Following WB’s announcement, the film was taken offline for many hours and YouTube put up a notice saying Warner Bros. had filed a copyright claim against the fan movie and blocked it. Lotr fans reacted quite negatively to the takedown online and, early Friday, the film was restored to YouTube.

Many audiences were first introduced to British actor Orlando Bloom thanks to Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of The Rings” trilogy playing the charismatic and cocky Elf archer, Legolas. One of Bloom’s first major follow-up roles was in the Greek epic “Troy,” directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starring Brad Pitt. However, Bloom says he wasn’t all that thrilled about the less-than-heroic character in the movie, which focuses on the epic war between the armies of Greece.

A new Lord of the Rings spin-off movie has been announced, and it’s getting the old gang back together; the producers/writers of both film trilogies, Peter Jackson, Phillipa Boyens, and Fran Walsh will be producing once more, and directing duties will be taken over from Jackson by Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in both trilogies and who was also second unit director on The Hobbit films. Since then, he has directed three movies so he is well prepared to take on this one.
Serkis will also star in his original role of Smeagol/Gollum, and the film is currently tentatively titled The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. If that title means what we think it means, it could be a really exciting prospect.

Andy Serkis gained critical acclaim for his role as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Serkis made a name for himself in motion capture soon after he did the role of Gollum. While the actor was praised for his incredible performance in the role, he was not admired by all.
Andy Serkis shared that there were many people including some older actors from the industry who mocked him when the first movie in the Lotr trilogy came out.
Andy Serkis as Gollum
The role of Gollum changed the world of CGI and motion capture forever. It led Serkis to more motion capture performances like King Kong and Caesar in The Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy. However, it is sad that the actor initially turned into a joke when Gollum first appeared in 2001’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

We got confirmation that more live-action movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy adventure novels, The Lord of the Rings, were officially in-development last year, and it's now been announced that the first film will hit theaters in 2026 - with Andy Serkis set to direct and reprise the role of Gollum!
Original Lotr trilogy director Peter Jackson and his writing partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are also on board as producers, and “will be involved every step of the way” according to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.

Andy Serkis is set to direct the first of a pair of new Lord Of The Rings films based on his most precious character – Gollum.
It’s a good day to be a Lord Of The Rings fan. First, Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav revealed in an earnings call that we’re getting a new Middle-earth film in 2026 – one based on “storylines yet to be told”, apparently. Very cryptic.
Or it was, until the company’s marketing department announced who’s involved in the first film, now provisionally titled Lord Of The Rings: The Hunt For Gollum. In short, it’s everyone from the first two Middle-earth trilogies.
Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are back in the producers’ chair (more likely a sofa), with Walsh and Boyens reprising their scriptwriting roles from The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit and, as you’d expect for the character who made his name,...

George Miller is about to return to the wasteland with "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," but it might surprise some people to know that his biggest box office hit to date remains the technological marvel that is "Happy Feet."
Though you wouldn't think of "Happy Feet" as being connected to "Mad Max: Fury Road," they have some things in common — particularly their stunning visuals and how they approach VFX. Despite what some fans would like to believe, "Fury Road" is full of CGI. As Miller himself told Vulture in 2022, "There was not one shot in that movie that wasn't CGI in one way or another." The film works because it blends digital and practical effects, using CGI to enhance scenes, delete wirework, and otherwise make what is already real feel larger-than-life. This is the approach that the best movies take -- the ones that understand CGI is a tool and not a shortcut.

There exists in abundance, several pieces of fictional works set in fantasy lands and places, consisting of unrealistic characters with unimaginable powers and abilities. Of these, George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones and J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings are considered among the best and have now become a staple part of popular culture.

The legacy of the great writer J.R.R. Tolkien lives on, but not all of its manifestations are equally successful. After mixed (mostly negative and neutral) reviews of The Rings of Power, it became known that several projects in Tolkien's universe are being planned, but the project that currently attracts the most attention and hopes of fans is full-length anime – The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
What Will The Anime Be About?
The upcoming project tells the story of Helm Hammerhand and the defense of the fortress of Hornburg in Helm's Deep.
The events described above were precipitated by the murder of Freca, the ruler of the lands of the Dunlendings. At one of the councils, he asked for the hand of King Rohan's daughter for his son, to which Helm responded only with ridicule. Then Freca, enraged by the refusal, insulted the king and began to threaten him.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most celebrated works of fantasy and has been regarded as one of the greatest films ever. Director Peter Jackson spent years bringing to life a novel series that was considered to be unadaptable. The final film of the trilogy The Return of the King won eleven awards at the Oscars, including Best Picture.
Many actors in the fantasy trilogy have gone on to become stars. While lead actors such as Elijah Wood and Viggo Mortensen became synonymous with their roles as Frodo and Aragorn, other actors such as Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler, and Andy Serkis saw new levels of stardom. Bloom, who would go on to star in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise reportedly received a very low salary for playing the role of Legolas in the trilogy.

Naming the best movie in history is quite an ambitious task. Ask a hundred movie buffs what their favorite movie is and they will all come up with their own answer – from The Lord of the Rings to Apocalypse Now to Alien.
But Rotten Tomatoes took on this impossible mission and compiled a list of the 300 best movies of all time based on critics' scores, user scores, number of reviews, and other factors. And the first place movie was one that (almost) no one expected.
If the second and third places were taken by The Godfather and Casablanca – classic films that everyone with even a passing interest in cinema has seen–- then the first place went to the 1997 noir detective story L.A. Confidential.
What is L.A. Confidential About?
Three very different detectives – Bud White (Russell Crowe), Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey) and Ed Exley (Guy Pearce) – are investigating a mass murder.

Greta Gerwig is shifting from Barbie’s life in plastic to Chronicles of Narnia’s cozy folk tales, and we’re here for it. While the upcoming remake that will be released on Netflix hasn’t had its production started yet, there’s not so much to say about how exactly the proclaimed director will highlight C.S. Lewis's famous fantasy story.
Given how accurately Gerwig grasps a totally different view angle for the already well-known narrative, we may get to see something unexpectedly new in the reboot that wasn’t featured the same way in the 2005 grand franchise. Despite all that, there’s one big mistake that the Disney’s movie adaptations had — and though nobody really noticed it, Greta Gerwig definitely should.

Ian McKellen is one of the most respected and talented actors in Hollywood. Over the course of his lengthy career, he established himself as a force to be reckoned with, achieving so much through his acting career that he was even knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. His versatility knows no limitations, having starred in many different kinds of roles and movies from all genres.
Sir Ian McKellen as Gandolf in The Hobbit
Considering just how talented and successful he is, it is not surprising that the actor is offered many different types of roles. Sometimes that may be through lesser-known sources, and others they may be very high-profile projects.
It would seem that the actor was asked to be a part of Tom Cruise’s iconic film series, Mission: Impossible, being offered the role of Commander Swanbeck in the second movie. Interestingly enough, the actor rejected this offer due to one reason.
