No jokes about fish and visitors please — Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s horror fantasy musical is indeed about delectable creatures from the deep, but these particular mythical misses have their own agenda, and woe to the man who trifles with their affections. What’s today’s catch? A Polish phantasmagoria seemingly teleported from the glitzy 1980s.

James Franco can take heart. While his pals busily prepare to skewer him at his upcoming Comedy Central Roast, the Hollywood hunk has at least one person in his corner: a mystery blonde he cozied up to during a shopping excursion in New York City on Tuesday. Decked out in a Miami Beach T-shirt, jeans, black combat boots, hat and shades, Franco and his unidentified lady friend were photographed holding hands as they checked out the Star Struck Vintage Clothing boutique in the West Village. While his gal-pal browsed the racks inside the shop, the 35-year-old actor hung around the doorway, apparently listening to some tunes on his cell phone and holding a gray sweatshirt. The multihyphenated...

Chicago – Sean Astin has distinguished himself through two memorable roles – that of the title character in the Notre Dame film “Rudy” and as Samwise Gamgee in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. But not many people know that he is a passionate civic supporter, once serving as campaign manager for his friend Dan Adler, who didn’t survive a congressional ballot runoff in 2011.
Born Sean Patrick Duke in Santa Monica, California, Astin made his film debut in the legendary “The Goonies” at age 13. After doing supporting roles in notable films like “War of the Roses” (1989) and Memphis Belle (1990), Astin did a memorable turn as the lead in “Rudy” (1993) as a million-to-one student athlete for the Notre Dame football team. His next act was the iconic “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy from 2001-03, where his Sam Gamgee character and the rest of the Lotr universe will live in cinema history.

Koalas, pythons, wallabies ... lovebirds? The Wild Life Sydney Zoo got a visit from a famous pair of that last species when Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis stopped by for a tour. The couple, who arrived in Australia on Oct. 31 and have been enjoying Sydney's sights ever since, paid for their entrance like anyone else and did not request special treatment, according to a zoo spokesperson. "They particularly enjoyed meeting our cuddly koalas, a python, a sugar glider as well as some wallabies with joeys in their pouches," the zoo's Kristy Enright says. "They were very friendly and enjoyed their visit.

The actor has not only been jamming on stage with Marilyn Manson, but it appears he's also borrowed the musician's makeup tips for his Tonto character. A little over two years ago, I was fortunate enough to attend a convention in Glasgow entitled Scottish Students on Screen, an event based around giving young film scholars a better familiarity with the workings of the British Film Industry and general movie making as well as a presentation of their own work. The highlight of this excursion, a series of talks and exhibits inter-cut liberally with group visits to a Wetherspoons chain drinking hole across the street, was the champagne event: an interview and Q&A with Peter Mullan.
To those unfamiliar with Mullan, he is a highly renowned actor and director best known to UK and international film goers as the face of various memorable movie psychos and extreme, flawed anti-heroes. "I’m wearing a complete mismatch of all of my friends," said Tilda Swinton last night at the Pomellato-hosted New York City premiere of "We Need To Talk About Kevin," a film that follows a family dealing with the aftermath of a Columbine-like tragedy. Easily done when you can count designers such as Jil Sander designer Raf Simons and Haider Ackermann amongst your inner circle. Swinton, who has been the face of Pringle of Scotland, dressed herself for the event, claiming to have never heard of a stylist.
