Contrary to the popular myth featured in this miniseries Mussolini did not make the trains on time. Most of the repair work to the Italian railway system were done before Mussolini and his fascists came into power in 1922. Mussolini was just disingenuous in taking credit for those changes.
Bruno Mussolini's fatal air crash is incorrectly shown as occurring before the war, sometime prior to the Munich Agreement of September 1938. Thus, Bruno's service in the Spanish Civil War and World War Two, as well as his long distance flights and airspeed records, are completely omitted. In reality, Bruno was killed on August 7, 1941, nearly two years after Italy's entrance into the Second World War.
Bruno's crash is also depicted as being a fireball. The real crash was no such thing, and he was killed by impact, after parts of the plane split apart.
