Pet Sematary: Bloodlines director Lindsey Anderson Beer has a whole lot of projects in the works at Paramount, from a new version of Sleepy Hollow to a film inspired by the American Girl toy brand – but that isn’t stopping her from teaming up with Universal Content Productions and genre regular James Wan (as well as his wife Ingrid Bisu) to develop a TV series called 1313, which is described as being a darker reimagining of the 1964 classic sitcom The Munsters. If 1313 gets a series order, Anderson Beer will be serving as the showrunner.
According to Deadline, 1313 will be “a horror series that plays on the Universal Monsterverse,” which makes sense, since the Munsters family included vampires, a little werewolf, and a version of Frankenstein’s Monster. As for the title of this new project, it comes from the fact that the Munsters lived in a house with the address 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

In the wake of Rob Zombie’s direct-to-video movie The Munsters back in 2022, Universal has now announced “1313,” a brand new small screen reboot of the iconic television series.
Developed and produced by James Wan’s company Atomic Monster, the new Universal horror series is said to be “a reimagining of the 1964 classic sitcom The Munsters that lives and breathes within the Universal Monsterverse.”
Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) will serve as the showrunner for “1313.” The title is of course a reference to the Munster family’s address, 1313 Mockingbird Lane.
Deadline notes in their report, “The project is being developed by James Wan, Beer, and Ingrid Bisu for UCP. Atomic Monster and Lab Brew are the production companies.”
Executive producers are Lindsey Anderson Beer and James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster. Ingrid Bisu is a co-exec producer on the upcoming series.

Released during the high point in Full Moon’s relationship with Paramount Pictures, Seedpeople was heavily advertised on its original UK release back in 1992, with ads appearing in many of the horror magazines of the period – including full page ads on the back and inside cover of The Dark Side (which ran for months on end I recall). The film itself wasn’t as successful as the other notable franchises in the Full Moon stable, with many reviews at the time noting that the film was a rip-off of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and essentially that’s what the movie is: a tongue-in-cheek alien invasion flick that echoes the feel of low-budget sci-fi flicks of the 1950s.

The Munsters return from the dead. I review the spooky, dark reworking of the TV classic, which is airing tonight, from the brains behind Pushing Daisies and The Usual Suspects. At The Daily Beast, you can read my latest feature, "Mockingbird Lane: NBC’s Munsters Remake Offers Eerie Charms," in which I review the backdoor pilot for NBC's Mockingbird Lane, a remake of classic sitcom The Munsters from Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, which airs tonight. The Munsters are back from the dead, though possibly for just one night. The supernatural clan was the subject of the 1964–1966 sitcom (and its syndicated sequel, The Munsters Today, which ran from 1988–1991), notable for a few things: the show aired at the same time as that other spooky family sitcom, The Addams Family; the original series is still a cultural touchstone despite only lasting 70 episodes; and the show juxtaposed the supernatural—embodied by...

The new Munsters series Mockingbird Lane started shooting yesterday, and thanks to Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) we have our first look at Charity Wakefield as Marilyn Munster on the set of the NBC series. I love the style of the photo released, and I hope the actual show incorporates it. It's kind of got an American Horror Story vibe, only it will be a family oriented series.
Bryan Singer (Superman Returns) is directing the pilot episode for the series which is based on the 1960's show. The story follows a family of monsters that consists of vampires, werewolves, and Frankenstein, and their normal cousin (Wakefield).
Jerry O'Connell stars in the series as Herman Munster, described as a great dad and devoted husband. He is married to Lily, who will be played by Portia De Rossi, a vampire, with whom he has fathered a 10-year-old boy named Eddie (Mason Cook). Herman works at a funeral home,...

Hollywood is filled with people clambering to get noticed in a sea of noise. When that hard work has paid off and an aspiring filmmaker catches the eye of a studio or producer, this appears to be a big break. However, the good folks at AnimatedViews.com remind us that a big break in this town doesn’t always mean that your career is made. AnimatedViews offers a detailed and intimate story behind the rise and fall of Disney’s Circle 7 Animation Studios, a company launched in 2005 to generate sequels to the wildly popular Pixar properties. More specifically, they profile Circle 7 writers Bob Hilgenberg and Rob Muir, who first broke into entertainment as part of Second City and The Groundlings. Hilgenberg and Muir’s early television work included writing bumpers for USA’s Up All Night host Rhonda Sheer and penning a script for the forgotten The Munsters Today. Other notable projects included Disney’s 2011 mega-flop Mars Needs Moms...

The Munsters are headed back to television.
After developing a reboot of the ’60s sitcom last season with Guillermo del Toro (who has since moved on to full-time duties on Pacific Rim), “Pushing Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller’s new millennium “Munsters” pitch was one of the few to survive the changing of the guard at NBC. As of November 4, Fuller delivered a reworked, “edgier” script for current NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt, who promptly ordered it to pilot.
According to Deadline, Bryan Singer (X-Men, Superman Returns) is finalizing a deal to direct that pilot episode and executive produce the potential series, said to be “a visually spectacular one-hour drama” intended for the summer or an event series. (No, not “The Event.” NBC tried that already.) Singer also directed the pilot episode of Fox’s “House,” and serves as executive producer on the long-running medical drama.

And NBC's The Munsters reboot gets even weirder... If you thought a more stylish, dramatic Munsters series was strange, now comes the word Bryan Singer is coming aboard as an executive producer. Singer needs no introduction, of course, having directed The Usual Suspects , X-Men , X2: X-Men United and Superman Returns . He recently helmed Jack the Giant Killer .

The Pushing Daisies writer has been working on a script based upon the 1960s horror themed sitcom for some time now and his efforts are finally finding fruition with the blessing of TV exec Bob Greenblatt. The show's principle characters remain very much unchanged from the original with the family patriarch Grandpa Sam Dracula putting together a monster (without the "U"), the only man befitting his vivacious vampire daughter Lily. Thus, Herman Munster is born. Also living with them are the couple's freakishly normal niece Marilyn and their son Eddie, who begins to manifest the traits of a werewolf during puberty. Added into the mix for the updated version will be Hannibal based upon Dr. Lecter of the Thomas Harris written novels and film adaptions. The new Munsters series will be an...

NBC has just ordered a new pilot for The Munsters, a reboot of the 1960s sitcom starring Fred Gwynne and Yvonne De Carlo. The new series will be developed by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. NBC had previously turned down the series, but Fuller’s new vision for the series is expected to be a darker, edgier one-hour drama. Unfortunately, NBC has only had a mediocre track record with reboots. The Bionic Woman series failed to achieve any success beyond its first season and last year’s Wonder Woman pilot failed following Internet fallout over the costume. Most recently, it was announced that Prime Suspect, based off of the BBC series starring Helen Mirren, would close production at the end of November. The series was left off of NBC’s 2012 mid-season schedule. The new Munsters series will revolve around the origins of Herman and Lily Munster. The original series was...

The classic television show, The Munsters is getting a reboot and it could actually turn out amazing.
Bryan Fuller first developed his remake of The Munsters last year, but it was passed over for other pilots at the time. This isn’t going to be The Munsters just as they were in their original run in the 1960s. They’re getting a darker, gritty re-imagining like most remakes nowadays. Fuller plans to dive deeper into the origins of the how the Munster family came to be. Maybe we’ll finally get a real answer on just where Marilyn came from!
All the original characters will be included: Herman Munster, the Frankenstein-like dad; wife Lily Munster; the off-his-rocker Grandpa; wolfboy son Eddie Munster; and the beautiful and sweet Marilyn Munster. They’ve even included Eddie’s pet dragon Spot.
The Munsters are a television classic with a storied history of remakes and sequels already.

Yes, you read that title right.
Us network NBC is planning a new version of classics 60’s show The Munsters. Of course this isn’t the first time that the series has been remade – there was a “sequel” of sorts, The Munsters Today, in the late 80’s which ran for 72 episodes and there have been Munsters TV movies as recent as 1996.
However none of those iterations of the classic series had the behind-the-scenes clout this iteration has… According to EW’s Ausiello:
Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller is toiling away on a modern-day reboot of the creepshow classic The Munsters! So far, NBC, with whom Fuller has an overall deal, has ordered only a pilot. But since the potential series is being described to me as “Modern Family meets True Blood,” … Not only that, but rumor has it no less than Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) is eyeing a behind-the-scenes role in the project.

Graaaaandpaaaaaaaa! It looks like America’s favorite monster mash of a family, the Munsters, is returning to TV once again. Don’t groan yet. We’re not talking The Munsters Today here. There’s reason to have hope, and that’s because super-geek/writer-producer Bryan Fuller is involved. You know, he of Star Trek: Voyager, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies?...
