Join us as we take an in-depth look at the commonalities across all 7 films of the Alien franchise as we prepare for the release of Alien: Covenant later this week.
What makes a movie franchise a franchise and not just a collection of similar films? Commonalities.
Sometimes it’s just a character by himself that makes it a franchise (Tarzan). At other times a common theme (Final Destination). Sometimes films of a franchise will share a common style if they are all made by the same filmmakers (Jason Bourne), or expand on a singular story (Star Wars). For others, it's a gimmick or hook (Home Alone), or a premise (Planet of the Apes).
The Alien franchise doesn’t necessarily fit into any of these categories; although it has featured all of these traits at one time or another. It started in 1979 with the release of Alien, a sequel came seven years later in Aliens,...

For some reason, Hollywood fell in love with British actors again in the 1990s. Sparked by Alan Rickman's turn as Hans Gruber in Die Hard at the back end of the 1980s, many movie villains were either Brits, or in the case of Cliffhanger, John Lithgow taking on the mannerisms of a British antagonist.

Beautifully restored and available for the first time on Blu-ray courtesy of Kino Lorber’s distribution deal with Carlotta Us, the Cannes premiered 1989 directorial debut of American director Charles Lane, Sidewalk Stories, arrives for recapitulation into the cinematic zeitgeist. A black and white silent film that’s an homage, and somewhat mutated modernization of Chaplin’s classic film, The Kid (though it’s sound design would be more akin to Chaplin’s Modern Times), Lane’s heartfelt and endearing film plays like a time capsule love letter to the eternal city. At the same time, it represents a chapter in the enduring evolution of the representation of the homeless, a changing landscape often unnoticed, a detail written off as an unavoidable constant.
A homeless street artist (Charles Lane) lives off the meager sum he receives while drawing portraits, though he faces stiff competition from neighboring peers. One evening, he witness...

"Revenge" is making its triumphant return to ABC for another season of beachside drama on Sunday September 28, but let's be real: this show is just as convoluted as it is addictive. Between the double identities, conniving blue bloods, socialite sleuthing, and undead former terrorists, you might find yourself slightly confused as we enter "Revenge's" fourth season.
Luckily, we have you covered with a comprehensive list of everything you need to know before Emily Thorne takes down her Hamptonite haters during Sunday night's premiere!
1. David Clarke Is Alive Turns out David Clarke didn't actually die when he was shivved in prison, because he made his triumphant (and vaguely zombie-like) return to The Hamptons during "Revenge's" Season 3 finale. And apparently he and Emily have similar fashion sense, because David loves himself a black hoodie. Will this sly guy make his presence known to his daughter during the show's premiere? Probably not, but...

Everyone took deception to the next level on the Jan. 19 episode of Revenge: Emily (Emily VanCamp) and Daniel (Joshua Bowman) went all War of the Roses on us, Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) revealed a dark secret to Patrick (Justin Hartley), and more shocking truths were uncovered!
This Means War
Let’s face it: Emily and Daniel’s marriage has tanked. Even before the shooting and the fake pregnancy revelation, Daniel wanted out. He’s apparently in love with Sarah (Annabelle Stephenson) and was fully prepared to use her as bait in his battle against Emily.
One of the first things to brighten Emily’s morning — you know, after ripping her stitches open — was the sight of Daniel and Sarah in bed together. He was a total tool to Emily in front of Sarah, but the look on Emily’s face said he was toast.

Even though she’s proved countless times that she doesn’t really deserve it, ‘Revenge’ fans have always held on to hope for a happy ending for Emily Thorne. Unfortunately, the Jan. 12 episode ‘Endurance’ crushed that hope to death with one of Victoria Grayson’s stilettos.
Revenge‘s third season is getting dark. Gone are the happy-ish days of yore, when Emily (Emily Van Camp) would gleefully take down a worthy opponent week after week; all while keeping her eye on the prize of a happy ending with the Graysons in jail and Emily finally free of her demons. Nowadays, she’ll be lucky if she makes it out of the Hamptons in one piece.

Emily’s luck just got a whole lot worse.
First, Daniel (Joshua Bowman) shot Emily (Emily VanCamp) and ruined her entire revenge plan; then, Emily lost and regained her memories all in one day; and on the Jan. 12 episode of Revenge, Emily had to do battle with the Graysons in the worst place ever — the Grayson Manor!
At the beginning of the episode, Emily was still stuck at the hospital and feeling down, but a little visit from Nolan (Gabriel Mann) in a candy striper outfit put a smile on her face. You guys, Nolan’s just the best. He tried to find out when Emily would be fighting back against the Graysons, but unfortunately, Emily was not having it. She didn’t want to take part in anymore revenge; she just wanted out of the Hamptons, which is understandable — but Emily didn’t stay that way for long!

Now, I’m the first to admit that I’m no shipper, but after the incident on that ship on ‘Revenge’ a few weeks back I can’t stop thinking about the fact that Emily would be completely insane (well, more insane than she already is) if she ever dated anyone but Aiden ever again. Here’s why.
Throughout Season 1 of Revenge, we all wanted to see Emily Thorne (Emily Van Camp) leave her woes behind and hook up with her still-innocent childhood sweetheart, Jack (Nick Wechsler). Still, Daniel (Josh Bowman) showed some promise — despite his family ties — and brief glimpses of light have been shining through his broody darkness ever since. But over the past two episodes, it’s become abundantly clear that anyone but Aiden (Barry Sloane) — and of course, her token Bff Nolan (Gabriel Mann) — would send Emily to her grave.

Huck turned on Quinn and Cyrus and James hit a breaking point in their marriage in the newest episode of Scandal, “Yolo.”
Huck Tortures Quinn
The episode started where the last one left off, with Huck (Guillermo Díaz) in Quinn’s apartment getting ready to torture the truth out of her. Quinn (Katie Lowes) is duct-taped, lying on the floor, completely at Huck’s mercy. While Huck claims he doesn’t want to hurt her, he’s practically salivating at the thought of hurting her. Because they’re friends, he’s going to let her keep all her fingers and toes. Instead, he goes straight for the teeth. He’s only able to rip one out before he has to go help Liv (Kerry Washington) deal with her mother (Khandi Alexander).

In a humourous chat with MTV News' Josh Horrowitz, Star Trek Into Darkness screenwriter Damon Lindelof has addressed a lot of the complaints that some fans have shared since the movie was finally released in the Us last week. As well as addressing any apparent plot holes and the many twists - including the fact that "John Harrison" was indeed Khan - Lindelof even teases the future of the franchise. More spoilers can be found by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page! Why Did They Decide To Make John Harrison's True Identity, Khan? "As for our friend Mr. Harrison (I am still uncomfortable even typing his true identity, so conditioned I have become to not do so), yes — there was a fair amount of back and forth as to whether to take on such an iconic character. But it was never really a "Should we or shouldn't we?...

Cybil Shepherd will make her recurring character debut on the second episode of Eastwick, entitled Reaping and Sowing. It also looks to me like Darryl Van Horne took Roxie's advice and is sporting a new haircut. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, just be sure to tune into the premiere episode of Eastwick on Wednesday September 23. Still, I say the pic to the left represents one of the best Jack smiles I've seen in a while. Way to go Paul Gross. Synopsis and pics for the second episode are below.

Lost</i>" style="margin:0 5px 5px" />The Season 5 finale's unnamed "Man No. 2" is the No. 1 topic in the new Getting Lost video. Who (or what) is this being that would eventually find a "loophole," pose as a resurrected Locke and order Ben to slay Jacob?
In this video, I share Getting Lost viewers' top theories, which are plumbed from such places as the Bible, Egyptian lore, and the creepy chamber situated beneath the island's Temple.
Next, the "man in black" himself — Deadwood alum Titus Welliver — reveals ...

Actress Olivia Wilde is glad her husband kept his royal identity from her on their first dates - because she would never have believed he was an Italian prince.
The House star is wed to Tao Ruspoli, whose family was given noble titles by the Pope, and that officially makes her a princess.
But she's glad her real-life Prince Charming didn't use his title as a chat-up line.
She says, "I probably would have been totally turned off; I think that's awfully cheesy."
Wilde admits she struggled to believe Ruspoli when he eventually told her about his family secret - but a trip to meet his family made her realise he was telling the truth.
She explains, "I went to visit his family in Italy and it became quite clear that he was a prince - there's the castle (and) it has a moat. The moat sold me... It's pretty amazing. It's a very old place."
Wilde, who wed Ruspoli in 2003, is now hoping for her royal title to kick in: "I hope maybe one day I'll get a free parking space or a dinner reservation."...
