Christopher Hewett starred as Mr. Belvedere in the ABC sitcom of the same name that ran from 1985 to 1990.
Gwen Davenport created the character for her 1947 novel Belvedere. It was later adapted into the 1948 film Sitting Pretty and its two sequels, Mr. Belvedere Goes to College (1949) and Mr. Belvedere Rings the Bell (1951).
There were a few attempts to turn the popular movie into a series in the 1950s and 1960s, but they were unsuccessful until the 1985 version became a midseason replacement on ABC.

Exclusive: Dark Dreams Entertainment, the production company owned by Magic Mike and I Am Number Four star Alex Pettyfer, has received backing from an angel investor and has set a three-picture deal with UK, LA and Buenos Aires-based production firm Infinity Hill.

Rausing has acquired a stake in Dark Dreams and will take a place on the company’s board as an executive. As host Ryan Seacrest noted, William Hung went viral as an “American Idol” contestant long before viral videos were a thing, and so it was fitting Hung returned for the show’s 20th anniversary celebration Monday night.
Hung performed the very song he auditioned with back in Season 3, way back in 2004 — “She Bangs” by Ricky Martin — looking much the same as he did almost two decades ago.
Turns out, Hung is now a motivational speaker. So, Seacrest asked what he tells those who attend his talks.
“I tell people I believe everyone has a right to try something new without being judged or ridiculed,” Hung said to cheers. (You can watch his performance and interview below.)
Hung wasn’t the only face from the “Idol” archives who visited Monday night’s broadcast.
Previous winners Ruben Studdard (Season 2) and Jordin Sparks (Season 6) performed a duet together.

“American Idol” marked its 20th birthday on Monday night with “The Great Idol Reunion,” a one-hour special featuring past “Idol” contestants and judges and celebrating the show’s history, both during its years on Fox and its current home on ABC.
“Tonight we are opening the Idol yearbook,” said host Ryan Seacrest as he revealed the “Idol” VIP area, which included such familiar faces as Tamyra Gray, Pia Toscano, Anthony Federov, Brooke White, Justin Guarini, William Hung, and Seacrest’s unforgettable frosted hair.
Wasting no time getting to Hung, whose name is “synonymous with ‘American Idol,'” noted Seacrest, he returned to the stage to reprise his epic Ricky Martin performance of “She Bangs” as former judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson felt right at home alongside the current panel of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
In classic Abdul form, she kicked into Paula-speak, which fans surely fondly remember.

“American Idol” continued with the eighth episode of Season 20 on Sunday, April 4. This installment of the ABC reality TV competition saw judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie pairing the contestants up for duets during Hollywood Week. Partners were predetermined for each singer other than Platinum Ticket holders Huntergirl, Kenedi Anderson and Jay Copeland, who were given their top pick. Contestants who survived this stage made it to the Showstoppers round on Monday, April 4.

A creative slump, a year-long stint in jail, the seizures, the bitter, prolonged label battle—the ‘10s were a tough decade for Lil Wayne. These trials have little bearing on the direction of his 13th studio album Funeral, in which he eschews introspection and sets out on a mission to bury other rappers across a digressive 24-song tracklist. This album is the work of latter-day Mixtape Weezy, who is eager to treat songs as exercises, to prioritize spectacle over substance, to showcase his technical daring and singular lyrical imagination.

It’s ironic that Chance the Rapper monologued about all the things that are second-best, because his second turn as host of Saturday Night Live was a vast improvement over his first.
The rapper and philanthropist lorded over the strongest episode of the still-young season, which started with a lousy, Trump-themed cold open, then quickly redeemed itself with a song that name-checked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and my beloved California Dreams. The episode front-loaded its best material (the stretch from “E-Sports Reporter” to “Spooky Song” was mighty impressive), then got reallll weird (but in a good way!) following an above-average Weekend Update.

In an ode to also-rans everywhere, Chance the Rapper spent this week’s Saturday Night Live monologue extolling the virtues of the second-best things, people and places in life.

“California Dreams” may have been a hit 1990s sitcom, airing for four years on Saturday mornings on Tnbc, but aside from a 2010 performance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” its cast has rarely come back together publicly in the almost 25 years since the band-within-the-show strummed its last note. But then came reboot and revival culture, and series stars Jennie Kwan and Kelly Packard got an idea for a reunion concert that Packard says became “our love project.”
As they tell it, Packard, who played bass player Tiffani Smith in the series, and co-star Kwan, who played vocalist Samantha “Sam” Woo, were at a concert for another popular 1990s entity when they saw the wild reaction of the crowd. Packard turned to Kwan to ask why they couldn’t do something similar. “I said, ‘We can, we just have to do it ourselves,'” Kwan tells Variety.

Monkees bassist Peter Tork has died at the age of 77.
Word of Tork’s passing was confirmed on his official Facebook page. A cause of death was not disclosed, though Tork was previously diagnosed with a rare form of cancer back in 2009.
The Monkees were a teen-pop sensation when they burst onto the scene in the 1960s, and viewed as America’s answer to The Beatles. The group spawned multiple hit singles (including “Last Train to Clarksville” and “I’m a Believer” and “Daydream Believer”) and a self-titled NBC sitcom, which produced 58 episodes during its two-season run. People sat down with the “Swish Swish” singer at a special event hosted by a Denver Boys & Girls Club — where lucky members had the opportunity to meet, ask questions, and play Just Dance 2018 with the pop star. There she revealed just how much she plans to idolize authenticity during her first season as a judge on the American Idol reboot.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including Stranger Things, The Gifted, Supernatural and Will & Grace!
1 | Regarding the Stranger Things 2 finale, did anyone else chuckle at the parallel between its climactic sequence — involving heroes descending into a cave on a small elevator — and that of Netflix’s own The Defenders? Also, Dustin’s penchant for Dig Dug (in which creatures are confronted in maze-line tunnels) turned out to be a bit of foreshadowing, eh?

Hollywood is known as the place where all the magic happens, where stars are born, and where dreams come true…or at least that’s what the movies they produce love to have us believe. As anyone who’s actually tried to move there and make it as a model/actress/musician will tell you, however, the everyday hustle of pursuing your fantasy career is anything but the glamorous fairytale we’ve been taught it to be. But then again, sometimes all of your California dreams really do come true, just ask Amber Rose who celebrated the city that helped her swift rise to celebdom,...

As if defining and conquering the teen arena wasn’t enough, Engel produced the iconic Last Comic Standing, enabling the discovery of an entirely new, fresh generation of comedians. "Dance, dance, feel it all around you Dance, dance, dance, Never thought love had a rainbow on it See the girl dance See the girl dance."- Neil Young, "Dance, Dance, Dance"***When I watched Katy Perry’s recent Super Bowl performance I got very excited. There was a lot of shrieking. So much so that my roommate, who had been diligently watching screeners of important art films one floor below, came up to see what was happening. A friend who was over to watch the game, who I often go to repertory movies with, later told another friend he had never seen me so excited. The third friend watching it with us, she’s a writer, was also excited. In her excitement she sent all of her twitter friends a picture. In my own excitement I sent yet a fourth friend a text message. ******My text message may have been sent off haphazardly,...

Poor earthquakes. They’ve been hiding in the shadows in recent years, a second-class citizen to tornadoes, floods, climate shifts, and cataclysmic events predicted by the Mayans. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Hollywood literally shake things up on cinema screens; not since the classic 1974 disaster film Earthquake has a seismic shift of tectonic plates been the main focus of a movie. But in 2015, earthquakes will make their comeback in San Andreas.
California dreams are dashed in the teaser trailer for San Andreas starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson andAlexandra Daddario. The movie is set in the aftermath of a massive earthquake along the San Andreas fault line, centred in California as helicopter pilot Ray (Johnson) and his ex-wife Emma (Carla Gugino) as they struggle amongst earthquake fallout as they attempt to make their way from Los Angeles to San Francisco to rescue their daughter Blake (Daddario).
Not so fast East Coasters.

Saved by the Bell was a hugely popular Saturday morning show that ran from 1989 – 1993 on NBC. At first, the sitcom was doomed for cancellation. But after being on the air for several months, ratings started to increase and the young stars turned into household names. The show has been off the air for 20 years, but did have two spin-offs. Saved by the Bell: The College Years was featured on primetime and was yanked from the schedule after 18 episodes. Saved by the Bell: The New Class was the staple in the Teen NBC lineup until 2000 and paved the way for other successful teen shows including Hang Time, City Guys, and California Dreams. So what have the actors that played schemer Zack Morris, homecoming queen Kelly Kapowksi, football star A.C. Slater, class president Jessie Spano, fashionista Lisa Turtle, and nerd Screech Powers been up since the show concluded? We took a look into their…...

I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons. It was my favorite thing in the world when I was a little kid. As I've grown and have had kids of my own, I've witnessed the demise of Saturday morning cartoons. I think it's sad that my kids have never really had that experience of anticipation for Saturday morning. When I was a kid, I spent my whole week looking forward to Saturday morning! I'd wake up early and sit down in front of the TV with one of several sugary cereals from that era and watch my shows. Those were some of the best shows ever made. The fact that my kids can now watch their favorite shows any time they wan't takes that experience away from them.

It's pretty safe to say that Katy Perry has an obsession with food. She's dressed up as sushi, Hershey's Kisses and popcorn (to name a few), so it was probably just a matter of time before she decided to dress up like a giant slice of pizza! All of her previous food-themed outfits have been whimsical and fun, many of which were featured in her California Dreams Tour—but here the "Dark Horse" singer looks like she literally just stepped out of a hot oven, covered in gigantic pepperoni and melted cheese!
