Chris Pratt has teased that a "Nintendo cinematic universe" could be in the pipeline. The 44-year-old actor will once again play Mario in the recently-announced sequel to 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' and thinks there is "so much to explore" in terms of stories based on the characters created by the Japanese video game company.Speaking to Screen Rant, Chris said: "Oh, man! There's so much to explore. There are decades worth of (games) to explore, not only with Mario and Peach and Donkey Kong and Luigi and Bowser and Yoshi; that was teased at the end. "But it just gets me so excited. I was such a Nintendo head growing up, so just thinking about how everything from 'Legend of Zelda' to the entire Nintendo cinematic universe could be created and what that could look like for all of these characters that I love?"I mean, there's really no limit.

While promoting the new Garfield animated pic, Chris Pratt briefly touched on his past performance as the princess-saving Brooklyn plumber, Mario.
Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the 2023 animated Super Mario Bros. Movie was an unexpected blockbuster, as it went on to set the record for biggest global opening for an animated movie.
After everything was said and done, the movie made $1.362 billion globally on a meager $100 million production budget. That feat made The Super Mario Bros. Movie the most financially successful film of 2023, according to Deadline Hollywood.
A sequel was officially announced on March 10, 2024, as part of Mario Day celebrations and given an April 3, 2026 release date.
Speaking to Total Film, Pratt teased, "I can't tell you much but I can say that there is another Mario movie coming. It gets me very excited thinking about the world of Mario and Nintendo in general, I think over the next decade...

In the world of comic books and their movie adaptations, no names come close to the behemoth production houses of Marvel and DC. The studio houses of the respective comic giants have held onto their cinematic universes and solo movies for decades now. In this aspect, Spider-Man from the former and Batman from the latter stands out as not only two of the most widely recognized superheroes around the world but also the characters with the most flicks to their name.
In this saga, two actors, namely John Leguizamo and Jim Carrey, carry their own distinct and disappointing tales of playing villains for such adaptations. While Marvel literally snatched the role out of the former’s hands, the latter’s outing as one of the most famed villains of DC turned out to be one of the worst iterations in comic book history. AMC Entertainment Holdings has seen its first-quarter revenues edge down slightly on weaker box office in the wake of the dual Hollywood strikes last year, and its net loss narrow as Dune: Part Two and Godzilla x Kong played in its theaters.
On Wednesday, the parent of AMC Theatres reported overall revenues for the three months to March 31, 2024 hitting $951.4 million, just down from a year-earlier $954.4 million, which came amid a 6 percent overall decline in the first quarter North American box office for Hollywood films, compared to 2023.
The premiere on its screens of titles like Dune: Part Two and Kung Fu Panda 4 in early March helped offset a slow box office start this year in January and February. The net loss at the giant cinema chain came in at $163.5 million, which shrank a year-earlier loss of $235.5 million. And the diluted loss per-share was 62 cents, against a year-earlier loss per-share of...

Video games become more fun when an element of curiosity is added to them. Dark Souls does the same, as it is supposed to preserve the sense of mystery. Most of them are added as Easter eggs, but some are purely dedicated to the game those levels are in.
Before social forums and networks discussing video games existed, finding a hidden level kicked in differently. While it may appear like something players aren’t supposed to see, it is in fact there for them to see. While many of you know the games we are about to discuss, chances are you haven’t explored these areas in them yet.

Bob Iger On MCU Content(Photo Credit –Twitter/IMDb)
After “Avengers: Endgame”, Marvel has released numerous movies and series to keep their fandom engaged. However, following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, only a few of these titles have received positive reviews. Among the well-received films are “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” In terms of series, “WandaVision,” “Loki,” and “What If…?” have managed to captivate viewers. Bob Iger has finally got into action to implement a new strategy.
Many Marvel fans have voiced concerns that recent stories lack the impact of earlier instalments. In the past, Marvel Entertainment typically released only 1-2 movies per year, each with a strong narrative, compelling villains, and memorable moments. Now, Disney CEO Bob Iger has made a significant decision regarding the future of MCU content.

A new Nintendo Switch video game console is in the horizon… but don’t expect any news in the next few months.
Nintendo reported quarterly earnings on Tuesday, and in conjunction with that news, the company released a statement from its president Shuntaro Furukawa addressing rumors that a new Switch could debut at this summer’s Nintendo Direct event.
“We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015,” Furukawa said. “We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”
The Switch is Nintendo’s flagship device, letting users play both on their TVs and on the go.

Universal and Illumination’s smash The Super Mario Bros Movie finishes No. 1 to make it a wrap on Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament for 2023. While the industry is still coming out of Covid and the aftermath of the strikes, there’s no question about the major motion picture studios’ embrace of the theatrical downstream model; steamers such as Amazon and Apple realize the power of it too.
Last year’s wild ride saw the buckling of superhero movies, though Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse underscored fanboys’ hunger for something different in the genre. The year also showed that longtime box office emperor Disney can lose its clothes sometimes — in 2023 it was its overextension and hasty execution of IP Wish, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Haunted Mansion and The Marvels. Barbie and Oppenheimer, meanwhile, showed that perhaps the biggest box office weekends are best programmed with two tentpoles in the heart of summer.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

Even those only vaguely familiar with video games probably know names like Super Mario, Grand Theft Auto, and Call of Duty. They’re the franchises that have come to dominate gaming over the last 50 years or so. Some of those franchises are currently being updated almost every year, while the new releases in others have become milestone events that seem to reshape the industry. New franchises come along and others fade away, but the biggest and best video game franchises have been slowly growing for years and, in some cases, decades.
Honestly, it can all be a little difficult to keep up with. For as significant as gaming’s biggest franchises are, they’re also…well, big. Over a long enough period of time, it’s easy to forget when specific games in certain franchises were released and where exactly they fit into the history of those series. You may know the names,...

Picture your Saturday night: popcorn is popped, drink is poured, blanket is warm, and you’re just about to put on a movie you’ve been wanting to see for months…and it’s two and a half hours long. Is the night ruined? For some of us, that length – despite a secured growth over the years – is just too long. So, what is the ideal runtime for a movie? According to one study, it’s a brisk 92 minutes.
In a survey of 2,000 Americans conducted by Talker Research, 92 minutes was deemed the ideal length for a movie’s runtime. Now, think about it: when is the last time you saw a movie that hit that mark? They’re there, of course, but they are increasingly rare. If we look at the top five higest-grossing movies of last year, The Super Mario Bros. Movie actually hits the mark precisely, while only Barbie was under two hours.

After the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the film industry is still trying to find its sea legs in 2024. While the box office has been lagging, and there’s been no “Super Mario Bros,” “Barbie,” or “Oppenheimer” so far this year, to be fair, most of those hits didn’t arrive until the summer (minus the Nintendo adaptation). While it’s been a relatively slow year at the domestic box office, there have been hits in “Dune: Part Two” and “Godzilla x Kong,”
And, while the movie industry seemingly slowed down production last year because of said strikes, there’s absolutely no lack of content this year.

It’s undeniable. Fallout is an absolute hit, and the age of terrible TV adaptations and low expectations is behind us (Halo notwithstanding). After years of sub-standard, terrible adaptations like Resident Evil, Max Payne, and countless others, we gamers thought we were in for the long haul while waiting for good quality TV and movies. Well, that wait is certainly over.
First, we got The Last of Us, then the critically panned but as-equally fun The Super Mario Bros. Movie which was an incredible Mario experience, if a terrible film, and now we have the excellent Prime Video Fallout. And this wealth of good gaming content on the big screen means a few knock-on effects in the actual gaming space.

The year was 1985 when Super Mario Bros. took the Nintendo Entertainment System by storm; Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes debuted in newspapers, and two unlikely friends named Marty McFly and Emmett Lathrop Brown piloted cinema’s most iconic time machine to a year when Panama hats and kitten heels were all the rage, 1955.
Fiercely protected at a level akin to Ghostbusters and Star Wars by millennials worldwide, Robert Zemeckis’s Back to the Future sits enthroned at Nostalgia Mountain’s top. The original film has spawned two sequels, a cartoon series, video game adaptations, a Broadway musical, and more. But how does it hold up by today’s standards? Strap on your seatbelt, and prepare yourselves to see some serious shit because this is Back to the Future Revisited.
In 1977, Robert Zemeckis did the unthinkable. He bulldozed into Amblin Entertainment without an appointment, heading straight for Steven Spielberg’s office.

Sunday Am: A24 is calling Civil War at a $25.7M opening, largely fueled by Democrat and Liberal moviegoers, but with overperforming business in some Red state regions like the South and Southwest.
Screen Engine/Comscore’s PostTrak polled Civil War attendees’ politics reporting that 22% considered themselves Liberal, 19% were Democrats, 11% considered themselves moderate, whereas registered Republicans (6%), Evangelical Christians (6%) and politically conservative folks (5%) showed up as a minority.
The markets that overperformed were L.A., San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Phoenix, Austin, Navy hub San Diego, and conservative market Denver. But then there were these smaller regional markets that rallied, including El Paso and Waco, Texas, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Charlottesville, Virginia. As we told you, South, South Central, and West were the best regions for the A24 release, which follows journalists chronicling a divided, violent America.

In the past two decades, video games have drastically changed. With new generations of consoles, video games have improved a lot and have made a lot of money for the studios. When talking about the highest-selling video games in the last decade (2010-2020), one may assume that Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 took the crown, however, there is one game that put GTA 5 in the second position.
Minecraft is the highest-selling video game of all time
Mojang Studios’ 2011 sandbox game, Minecraft, is the highest-selling video game of all time with a whopping 300 million sales since its release. Thanks to a multi-platform release, Minecraft catered to all kinds of gamers, providing them with a fun co-op survival experience. Not even games like Tetris, Pubg, or Mario Kart could dethrone Minecraft. With 300 million copies sold, Minecraft is expected to hold this spot for a very long time as the game continues to sell copies.

Every year, gamers ask themselves: Is this the year video game movies finally gain some respect? And the answer in the year 2024 might, actually, be yes.
No, none of the three video game adaptations that came out this year have been outright critical successes. Quite the opposite, actually: critics saw “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” as unremarkable and mediocre, “Gran Turismo” as a glorified advertisement, and “Five Nights as Freddy’s” as a complete borefest. But the movies all performed respectably at the box office, with “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” becoming the second-highest grossing film of the year, and “Five Nights at Freddy’s” smashing expectations to become one of the year’s biggest horror movies. These successes all affirm that, for better or worse, video game movies are hot right now. And with a new “Sonic the Hedgehog” film and “Borderlands” coming out this year,...

The recent critical acclaim for HBO’s The Last of Us and the box office success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie have sparked a wave of optimism. Could this be a turning point for video game adaptations?
Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller in The Last of Us

Chris Pratt is presently a household name with his experience in renowned franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. The role of Peter Quill was a turning point in his career. The MCU character needed him to go through an intense workout and diet routine which was key in elevating him to international stardom.
Chris Pratt in Parks and Recreation
Before associating his name with the big franchises and animation flicks, Chris Pratt was known for playing Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. After a challenging start to the year, the French box office steadied in March with 15 million tickets sold, led by Warner Bros’ Dune: Part Two.
This was a dip of just 4.8% on March 2023. While not desirable, this is much less than the dip of 16.4% in February 2024 compared to the same month the year before which was buoyed by crowd-pleasing French titles Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom and Alibi.com 2 that dominated the box office in early 2023. Disney’s Avatar: The Way Of Water was also still in cinemas through February 2023.

In Princess Peach: Showtime!, Peach quite literally takes center stage, claiming the lead role in a variety of productions staged at Sparkle Theater in an effort to save renown Sparkla actors and reclaim the spotlight from evil Madame Grape and her Sour Bunch followers. It’s a neat hook, as the developers at Good-Feel seem to have gone out of their way to address how Peach is usually sidelined in the world of Super Mario Bros. by giving her 10 parts to play. Sadly, these are far from plum roles, and the game is largely hit or miss.
Showtime! is a structurally formulaic game. The Sparkle Theater’s five floors have four shows (or levels), each one completed by stepping into the shoes (or ice skates) of a specific role and earning you door-opening Sparkle Gems. Clearing those unlocks a fight against a light-themed boss, such as the blinged-out Disco Wing and the Cheshire-like Purrjector Cat,...

The fight to land two seats on Disney’s board is still ongoing and Nelson Peltz is hitting the global entertainment company with everything he’s got. In his newest round of attacks, he’s called the company’s strategy too “woke” that it’s eroding the very concept of entertainment.
Nelson Peltz Blasts “The Marvels” And “Black Panther” As “Woke” Films
Watch out Kevin Feige, because Nelson Peltz isn’t only after Disney’s CEO Bob Iger. In a recent interview with The Financial Times, Peltz attacked the Marvel chief, accusing him of focusing on the “woke” aspects of reality rather than thriving to making pure entertainment instead.
While he claims he isn’t looking forward to unseating any of them – that is Bob Iger and Kevin Feige – he did share his belief that the company’s mindset will need to shift if it still wants to remain the entertainment giant it is today.

You’re not imagining things: video games really have gotten easier over the years. That’s due, in large part, to the now-common addition of variable difficulty settings and other accessibility options. While some gamers complain these things make games too easy, they’re a welcome change for many of us who grew up in the ‘80s.
Much of the Nes library was known for its extreme difficulty. Part of that was due to the console’s technical limitations. It just wasn’t always easy to make characters move as developers intended. Sometimes it was much more conscious. Developers would make games harder so that they would last longer and so that gamers couldn’t just blow through titles in a weekend rental. But even keeping those things in mind, a few developers went above and beyond to create some of the most devious and fiendishly difficult challenges imaginable. Decades later,...

When “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” and even “Sound of Freedom” were cleaning up at the box office last summer, we were not alone in declaring that when it comes to the types of movies young audiences will go out to a theater to see, Hollywood needs to chase originality to find the next hit. The latest Marvel, Indiana Jones, Transformers, Jurassic World, and more all underwhelmed, while “Super Mario Bros.,” “Five Nights at Freddy’s” — even when a fresh start on previous IP — and now even “Poor Things” outperformed expectations.

The word "iconic" gets used a lot, but if there's one character who deserves to be called that, it's Mario. The little mustachioed guy revolutionized gaming (and plumbing) forever. He has defended kingdoms against countless threats, saved princesses, and even fought off gorillas. He hasn't done all that much actual plumbing, but he has been a racer, a doctor, a golfer, a superhero, and even an elephant.
