Sex & Nudity
-
- One fairly explicit scene describes a woman saying she would give oral sex to a kid, in fairly graphic language.
- Explicit remarks are made throughout the movie.
- In one scene, Esteban talks about women and how they "jump on that d**k like a pack of gold".
- Graphic material involving sexuality and nudity.
- A scene of brief nudity where we see a child go to bed naked. There might be a very brief view of the back edge of his scrotum but nothing notable. Nothing really explicit is shown.
- There is a scene where a man and woman are completely nude, shows the backside of the man's body and the front of the woman's body.
Violence & Gore
-
- A character gets smacked, a very humiliating form of violence. Upsetting to watch.
- A good amount of the violence in this movie is rather bizarre for an R alone. This movie was likely NC-17 originally for this reason.
- A racist cop assaults Fresh briefly by throwing his bookbag back at him in a violent manner. Not graphic at all.
- We see a violent, quite traumatizing, gunfight between three rival crime families (some scenes are graphic, mostly in the beginning of the scene, but most of the fight afterwards is heard rather than scene).
- A dog fight is seen.
Profanity
-
- 125 uses of "fuck"
- Cinemax content advisory for this movie: rated R for graphic violence (GV), graphic language (GL), brief nudity (BN), and adult content (AC)
- Non-stop use of the F-word. Other profanities used as well.
- It is not the most profane in it's genre, but there still is a lot of profanity.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- This movie is displaying a lot of crackheads, coke heads and junkies. There are a lot of drug dealers, addicts, pimps, whores and ghetto people.
- The movie revolves around a drug dealer, drugs & addicts are shown.
- Characters smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
-
- The atmosphere of the movie is violent.
- The nature of some of the killings in this movie are bizarre, and bound to traumatize.
- A character gives a very bizarre rant in which he threatens to "grease" and "drop" someone for not giving him in the money he is owed. It is very weirdly uncomfortable.
Spoilers
Violence & Gore
- Esteban threatens to pour acid on Fresh for pussyfooting around the subject of why Corky and his men were trying to hone in Esteban's business. Very graphic, NC-17 type threat. Another reason this movie was originally that likely.
- We see a fight between Nicolai and Fresh, in which Nicolai punches Fresh and blames him for Chuckie's death. Not a graphic fight, but it's pretty intense given the previous scene.
- We see a very bizarre shooting of a thug shooting a young boy and girl that is very graphic on a outside basketball court just because the young boy beat him in basketball.
- Very graphic gore. After the shooting, Fresh goes over to their bodies and blood is everywhere. The young girl's body is shaking and it goes limp.
- Another traumatizing killing also happens: Fresh's bro Chuckie is killed, in an apparent mugging attempt. Very traumatizing. Someone shoots a car tire to pin his hand under the tire (because he tries to get his gun) (fairly graphic)
- A crime lord brutally beats two guys for allegedly betraying him (in the shots where we see the beating happen, it's brutal and graphic; but most of the beating is only heard, not shown onscreen).
- A dog is hung up by its neck where its shot in its chest, we see the whole act
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The main character using his bro may upset/anger some. The end might also upset others. The scene with the boy shooting the dog might sadden some.
- A kid gives a disturbing and graphic rant threatening to kill any witness who says anything after he shoots innocent people.
