On Wednesday’s eighth episode of “Survivor 46,” Jeff Probst declared he’s “never seen anything like this” in what was “one of the craziest tribals ever.” With two players tossed out as vote options earlier in the day and a third player asking for them to vote him out instead, no one seemed to know where the final vote would land. In the end, all but two people opted to take out Tevin Davis in a true blindside of a player that thought he was calling the shots. Read on for Tevin’s “Survivor 46” exit interview from the end of the episode.
“I was absolutely blindsided which is actually kind of epic,” Tevin began. His peers were able to catch him off guard because he thought that he and Q were on the same page about the need to vote Tiffany Nicole Ervin out for going against “The Six,” their main alliance.

“So You Think You Can Dance” season 18 advanced to the top 10 this week, but it surprised its contestants by revealing that most of the competition would take place outside of the studio in scenarios meant to reflect a real career in dance. The first challenge was to perform in a music video. Five of the contestants performed to a reimagined version of Justin Bieber‘s “All Around Me” video, choreographed by Phillip and Makenzie Chbeeb. Watch it above.
Roman Nevinchanyi, Jaylin Sanders, Avery Gay, Braylon Browner and Dakayla Wilson were randomly selected for this contemporary number, with ballroom dancer Nevinchanyi and hip-hop dancer Sanders stepping the most out of their comfort zones. But they all had to stretch their capabilities for a routine that involved complicated prop work using a ladder. There were some mishaps during rehearsals, with Browner getting banged up a bit and Phillip Chbeeb saying to the struggling contestants,...

Tom Ripley is getting another chance on the awards circuit. The sinister con artist, created by author Patricia Highsmith in a series of novels, is played by Andrew Scott in the new limited series “Ripley” from Netflix. A quarter-century ago a variation of the same story was told in Anthony Minghella‘s film “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” but while that iteration received five Oscar nomination, it was snubbed for Best Picture, and star Matt Damon was left out of Best Actor. Can Scott make up for that with a nom for Best Movie/Limited Actor?
Damon’s portrayal of Tom Ripley had more warmth to it, a sense of longing (“I always thought it would be better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody”). He was a tragic monster who trapped himself in a web of lies and murder. Scott’s performance suggests someone more methodical and calculating.

“Loki” could conjure up a Best Drama Series nomination this year and give Disney and Marvel representation at this year’s Emmys. The second season of “Loki” continues the journey of Tom Hiddleston‘s titular former villain as he attempts to save the multiverse. Loki traverses the multiverse with the help of Owen Wilson‘s Mobius, Ke Huy Quan‘s Ouroboros, Sophia Di Martino‘s Sylvie, and Wunmi Mosaku‘s Hunter B-15. They are hoping to repair the damage caused to the multiverse during the events of the first season, with Kang (Jonathan Majors) again at the center of the trouble.

All season long, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” fans will be making their predictions at Gold Derby for who they think will win Season 16, and who will be eliminated next. The casts vying for the 2024 Best Film Ensemble SAG Award hail from “American Fiction,” “Barbie,” “The Color Purple,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and “Oppenheimer.” Our current racetrack odds indicate that the “Oppenheimer” team (82/25) will triumph, followed in order of likelihood by the actors from “Barbie” (37/10), “American Fiction” (9/2), “Killers of the Flower Moon” (9/2), and “The Color Purple” (9/2).
For the first time since 2021, all five films nominated for this ensemble prize are also in the running for at least one individual acting award. None produced four solo nominees like “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” both did last year, but “Oppenheimer” got close with three: star Cillian Murphy and featured players Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt. Those with two (one lead and one supporting) each are “American Fiction” (Jeffrey Wright; Sterling K. We are about a month away from the 96th Academy Awards, which will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 10. Many categories seem to have fallen into place as to who will win, especially most of the above-the-line races — specifically Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actor, and Supporting Actress.
As our Gold Derby odds currently stand, Original Screenplay is still a red-hot race between “Anatomy of a Fall” and “The Holdovers.” However, I believe this category is a safer bet than a lot of Gold Derby fans realizes. Here are five reasons why “Anatomy of a Fall” screenwriters Justine Triet and Arthur Harari will win Best Original Screenplay at the 2024 Oscars.
1. It received nominations in every important category.
On Oscar nominations morning, “Anatomy of a Fall” got into every key category necessary to indicate it has broad support across the academy. Picture, Director (Triet), Lead Actress (Sandra Hüller), Film Editing,...

The week after Christmas was relatively slow when it came to music consumption. For the Billboard 200 tracking week that ended on January 4, Taylor Swift‘s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” held on to the top spot with just 64,000 equivalent album units based on its combined record sales, individual track sales and online streams. Read more about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
This was the sixth nonconsecutive week at number-one for “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” but despite its modest number of album units, it was actually a pretty suspenseful battle for the top spot as Morgan Wallen‘s “One Thing at a Time” achieved nearly 64,000 album units and thus just barely missed spending its 17th nonconsecutive week at number-one. After that, Drake‘s “For All the Dogs” came in at number-three with 58,000 units, Nicki Minaj‘s “Pink Friday 2” landed at number-four with 57,000 units, and Swift’s “Midnights” reached number-five with 46,000 units.

Barbenheimer kicked off when both Greta Gerwig‘s “Barbie” and Christopher Nolan‘s “Oppenheimer” were released in theatres on the same day last year on July 21. However, the fun-spirited, lighthearted rivalry between the Warner Bros. comedy and the Universal biopic has continued into this awards season. Both “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” have often been the most nominated films at various awards groups and two performers have found themselves head to head in pretty much every precursor so far: supporting players Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Gosling.
Downey Jr. plays scheming politician Lewis Strauss in “Oppenheimer” and produces a thoughtful, fierce performance as the film’s primary antagonist. Gosling, meanwhile, has the time of his life in the year’s most colorful performance — playing Ken, the doll obsessed with Barbie, in “Barbie.” You couldn’t get two more contrasting performances — both are genius in their own measure. Currently at Gold Derby, seven of our 10 Experts from major media outlets predict that Season 2 of “The Bear” will sweep the comedy races at the 2024 Golden Globes. These savvy prognosticators have it cooking up wins for Best Comedy Series, Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto for Best Comedy Actor and Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu for Best Comedy Actress. If they’re right, that would put “The Bear” on the same exotic menu as “30 Rock” (with leads Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin) and “Roseanne” (with leads Roseanne Barr and John Goodman), both of which claimed the comedy trifecta in 2009 and 1993, respectively.
The seven Experts predicting the FX show to sweep the top three comedy races are: Christopher Rosen (Gold Derby), Eric Deggans (NPR), Joyce Eng (Gold Derby), Nikki Novak (Fandango), Peter Travers (ABC), Ray Richmond (Gold Derby) and Wilson Morales (BlackFilmandTV). “I just try to enjoy it,” declares writer and director Lasse Noer about his first brush with potential Oscar glory. Noer’s film “Knight of Fortune” has been shortlisted for Best Live Action Short at the upcoming 96th Academy Awards. In an exclusive chat with Gold Derby (watch the video above), Noer and the film’s producer Kim Magnusson discuss the film’s melding of humor and grief and the important role that short films play in fostering new talent.
“Knight of Fortune” follows Karl (Leif Andrée) as he visits a morgue to say goodbye to his deceased wife. Karl encounters Torben (Jens Jørn Spottag), a fellow widower burdened by his own grief. The film deftly balances sorrow and humor, something the filmmakers said was crucial to the film’s intent. “I think that grief and laughing are not so far away from each other,” argues Noer. “I think it...

Less than two months after she hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the third time, Emma Stone picked up her first Best Actress Oscar nomination for “La La Land,” which soon led to a victory at the 2017 Academy Awards. As the star of “Poor Things,” she is now on a quest for a bookend trophy that would coincide with her recent entry into said NBC sketch series’ prestigious Five-Timers Club. Even if history doesn’t fully repeat itself, just being included in 2024’s lead actress lineup would give her the impressive distinction of being the only performer with multiple same-category Oscar bids directly linked to “SNL” hosting gigs.

The Netflix reality TV show concludes on Wednesday, December 6, with one person about to become $4.56 million richer. Gold Derby asked the show’s fans to tell us who they are rooting for to prevail, and we can now reveal the poll results:
49% — Player 287 (Mai)
32% — Player 451 (Phill)
19% — Player 016 (Sam)
See‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ spoilers: Winners, losers and fan-favorites
By far, Mai has been featured more on the show than the other two finalists, thanks in part to her initial mistrust (and later apology) to Player 182 (Tj). And of course, who could forget Mai going after Player 278 (Ashley) in the “Die Test” because she saw her as disloyal for the way she acted toward Player 301 (Trey) in the “Glass Bridge” challenge?...

On Wednesday’s eighth episode of “Survivor 45,” everyone was expecting that the Tribal Council vote would be another “dog pile” on a single player, but in a true blindside, the game divided firmly down old tribal lines. The original Reba tribe members held strong and took control of the numbers by finding a great second option in the elimination of Kellie Nalbandian. Read on for Kellie’s “Survivor 45” exit interview from the end of the episode.
Prior to the immunity challenge, a brewing all female alliance had set their sights on taking out Bruce Perreault and Kellie, his strongest supporter, was even (finally) keen on the plan. By this point in the game Kellie had come to see Bruce as her “ball and chain” in the game, dragging down her ability to work with anyone else because of how much of a social game liability he was. Who really gave the best performance on “Dancing with the Stars” during “Premiere Night“? We asked fans to respond in our poll at the end of the show, and they were divided pretty evenly three ways. Overall, they agreed with judges Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba about the top three performances, but disagreed about the order. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
The best performance of the night according to the judges with a total score of 22 out of 30 was “The Bachelorette” star Charity Lawson, who danced a tango. She got sevens from Hough and Inaba and an eight from Tonioli — the only eight any contestant received that night. Tied for second place with sevens across the board from the judges for a total of 21 out of 30 were “Vaanderpump Rules” reality star Ariana Madix dancing another tango and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jason Mraz with a cha cha.

This week’s Billboard 200 albums chart was decided by one of the narrowest margins of the year. Only 500 equivalent album units separated number-one from number-two based on the combination of album sales, individual track sales and online streams. Read all about this week’s chart here at Billboard.com.
Rod Wave‘s “Nostalgia” stayed at the top of the list with 88,000 units, making this his first album to spend multiple weeks at number-one. It’s the lowest number of units for a number-one album since Sza‘s “Sos” led with 87,000 units on March 4. But it was just enough to hold off Olivia Rodrigo‘s “Guts,” which achieved 87,500 units. Morgan Wallen‘s former 15-week chart-topper “One Thing at a Time” came in third with 73,000 units.
SEEDoja Cat ‘Scarlet’ reviews: Is it ‘hands-down her best album’ or ‘incoherent’?
In fourth place was Doja Cat‘s new hip-hop album “Scarlet,” which achieved 72,000 units.

Leading up to “Premiere Night” on “Dancing with the Stars,” a majority of Gold Derby users predicted that “Brady Bunch” star Barry Williams would be eliminated, with comedian and actor Matt Walsh next in line. Since we’ve now seen what the celebs are capable of, our week two predictions are better informed, but will they be more accurate? Truth time: ‘Survivor 45’ began in messy fashion, with clashing personalities and an unexpected quit
“Survivor” is back again with its 45th season and 18 new contestants. For the first time in the history of the reality TV show, there will be 90-minute episodes throughout the entire season. That gives viewers more character game moments and tribe dynamics, which last week’s premiere delivered in messy fashion, with many clashing personalities and an unexpected quit at the end. As the three tribes form and the alliances begin on “Survivor 45,” read on as we break down the game and the hour and a half premiere.
Starting with the Belo tribe, there is the return of Bruce Perreault from last season after being medically evacuated 12 hours into the game. Despite proclaiming to his tribe that he did not want to be known as the leader out here, it was followed by him guiding the tribe and suggesting what to do, as noted by the ladies Katurah Topps, Kellie Nalbandian and Kendra McQuarrie,...

The 2023 New York Film Festival kicked off on Friday night in the aftermath of a generational rainstorm that left many neighborhoods within the five boroughs flooded. But the historic weather event didn’t dampen the critical response to the fest’s opening night feature, “May December,” nor the film’s standout supporting performance from former “Riverdale” star Charles Melton.
“I don’t know ‘Riverdale,’ so Charles Melton was new to me, and he’s extraordinary in a quiet, very difficult role,” author Mark Harris wrote on social media, a sentiment shared by many on the networking platform.
“Charles Melton is the real deal in ‘May December.’ His work is intricate, conveying a hollowed-out shell of a man discovering in real time what he’s lost. Holding your own against two titans like Julianne [Moore] and Natalie [Portman] is one thing, but he’s shattering alone. An Oscar nod is in play,” another...

On Wednesday’s premiere episode of “Survivor 45,” emotions ran the gamut on a disheveled Lulu tribe. After a panic attack at the reward challenge from Brandon Donlon and the skepticism and pessimism around camp from Emily Flippen, fan-from-the-couch Hannah Rose had decided the game was much harder in real life than she ever expected … and she wanted out. At the first Tribal Council of the season, Hannah convinced her tribe mates to honor her wishes to quit and they verbally voted her out of the game. Read on for Hannah’s “Survivor 45” exit interview from the end of the episode.

The 28-year-old investment analyst from Maryland identifies a need to separate “short term emotions” from “long term goals” in order to play successfully. Watch their full CBS interview below.
Prior to arriving in Fiji, Emily says she was told that her “personality was very similar to” Kass McQuillen from “Cagayan.” Because she identifies as an “outspoken, more aggressive female” that gets “irritated when [she’s] surround by people who think they’re better than [her],” Emily does see herself as being inspired by “Chaos Kass.” To combat that nature, she plans to “slowly chip away at people and they’ll start to see [her] for who [she is].”

During the September 19 episode of “America’s Got Talent,” things got spicy at the judges’ table when Simon Cowell scolded the show’s producers on live television. It all started when Howie Mandel pressed Heidi Klum‘s red X during the vocal performance of “Who You Are” by Nashville singing duo Trailer Flowers. Being a live show, the actual button push wasn’t caught on camera, but when host Terry Crews came out to clarify what happened, the producers played a clip of Howie sneakily pressing Heidi’s red buzzer. “I would not press my buzzer in the semi-finals,” Howie falsely declared, despite the proof being shown on camera. Of course, Howie was not being completely genuine because he had previously X’ed Phil Wright & Parent Jam, Sharpe Family Singers and Ray Wold & Mom during this season’s live shows, and received some flack for it online.

The Veto ceremony went as expected on Monday in the “Big Brother 25” house: Jag pulled down Cory and Jared put up Cameron. There probably won’t be any flip-flopping this week since everyone is itching to get Cameron out the door, so the drama is coming from a new split house.
It’s basically the house vs. the Fieldses in there. Jared and Cirie have been losing their grip on the house since last week and now everyone (Bowie to a lesser extent) wants them gone next. After Mecole and Felicia figured out over the weekend that mother and son wanted Felicia out last week, Felicia is now fully against the Fieldses and is willing to win Hoh to boot them. She wants Jared out first, but she’s fine with Cirie going next if they can’t get Jared, which is everyone’s position as well. Matt and Jag...

The first episode of every “Survivor” season can often feel like homework, as viewers are introduced to multiple brand new personalities and tribes within the span of an hour. That’s why Gold Derby is providing you with this handy dandy cheat sheet of the “Survivor 45” tribe divisions and colors. Read on to see how the 18 castaways have been divided into the Belo (blue), Lulu (yellow) and Reba (red) tribes for this Fall 2023 installment.
First up, a quick reminder that “Survivor 45” filmed earlier this year in Mamanuca Islands, Fiji with Jeff Probst back as host. Seventeen of this cycle’s players are brand new to the game, with the 18th person being Bruce Perreault, who was medically evacuated in “Survivor 44” due to a head injury. Initially, the contestants will be evenly divided into three groups of six, but then those who make it to around the halfway point will merge together into one tribe.

“Honestly, it really wasn’t that bad,” says “MasterChef” contestant Reagan Sidney following her fourth-place elimination on Wednesday night’s episode. “As much as I really wanted to make the finals, I think my time had been done. I did what I needed to do. I wasn’t really sure how I would fare in the finals and so I thought the other three cooks were more deserving in that moment than I. They made the right choice.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
In this “United Tastes of America” semi-final episode, judges Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez and Joe Bastianich tested the top four by having them follow Gordon’s instructions, step-by-step and at his pace, cooking Coffee-Crusted Smoked Venison with Truffle Gnocchi, Cauliflower Puree and Red Wine Chocolate Sauce. Reagan’s overcooked venison and broken sauce ultimately got her eliminated.
