It seems as though creepy confections, sinister party favors, and the like are hurtling to an all time high in popularity; for example: Martha Stewart is providing step by step instructions on how to make a variety of disgusting looking but totally edible accouterments. With the extreme success of shows like The Walking Dead, it seems as though a lot of people who were once put off by the macabre are now embracing it. This probably leaves most diehard horror fans indifferent, but the potential plus side to more mainstream attention being paid to the morbid is that there are more ideas floating around sites like Pinterest for creepy hors d'oeuvre and such.
So, if you dig creepy confections, evil entrées, or nasty nibblies, have a look at these outstanding examples below!

If we do nothing else here at FEARnet, we will make sure Dexter fans eat well.
What’s the perfect follow up to “Fried Eggs” ala Dexter? These bloody Dexter cupcakes. New York’s Magnolia Bakery (which is super delicious in case you’ve never been there) sliced and diced their classic red velvet cupcake recipe with pieces of candy broken glass and red syrup to create these cupcakes for the Season 7 Dexter premiere.
While the original Magnolia Bakery recipe is kept under wraps, buried deep inside their walls, we found several fans that were willing to sacrifice their hands to recreate this killer treat. The step-by-step recipe below is from domesticingenue.com, read the entire post here. The broken glass is surprisingly easy to make.

2 large eggs, room temperature
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil

The Voice UK hopeful Lareena Mitchell has spoken of her admiration for Adele.
Mitchell - who has previously worked as an Adele tribute act - won a place on Sir Tom Jones's team on the BBC show at the weekend, after a performance of Annie Lennox's 'Walking on Broken Glass'.
She explained that she doesn't let negative comparisons to the 'Skyfall' singer upset her.
"Oh, that's water off a duck's back. I don't think you should let things like that get you down," she is quoted as saying in The Sun.
"I've also had loads of support. Since the show went out, my Twitter and Facebook have gone mad - it's really overwhelming."
Speaking about Adele, she said: "She's definitely my idol.
"But obviously I have my own voice and style too - that's what I'm excited about showing off now."

More news from the mega-talented folks at Mondo, this time from their music department: the art collective has revealed the artwork and release details for their upcoming limited-edition vinyl release of Jerry Goldsmith's iconic score to Poltergeist. So we'll break it all down for you right here. The expressionistic gatefold over design by Australian artists Sonny Day and Biddy Maroney (who work under the handle We Buy Your Kids) is worth the $25 price alone, and houses a two-lp set with all of the score cues remastered specifically for vinyl. Here's the complete track listing, which includes five never-before-released cues: The Star Spangled Banner The Calling / The Neighborhood (Main...

When the title for Andrew Dominik's Cogan's Trade was changed to Killing Them Softly there was a collective groan from the masses that were hotly anticipating its release. It seemed like a move from a "cool" and mysterious title to something more generic and audience friendly. It's not. It's right on the nose. A perfect title for an excellent film that wasn't anything like what I expected. Adapted from George V. Higgins's novel, this is a gangster film with guns, bloodshed, a heist and consequences, but it also serves as a metaphor for the whole of America -- from the top down. A commentary that isn't at all subtle, and not in a bad way. Ironically enough, the violent nature of this film, with its equal moments of beauty and savagery actually make for a perfect comparison. Set in 2008, amidst the financial crisis and the Presidential election, Killing Them Softly...

BollySpice joined the best of British Asian artists last night in central London for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Gala Premier of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing – bollywood style! Featuring Meera Syal as Beatrice, amongst a stellar cast of great British Asian talent, this re-enactment of Shakespeare’s classic comedy of love and deceit is transformed to India and is currently showing at the Noël Coward Theatre, London.
For those of you who aren’t aware of the original play, or may have read it many years ago and need some memory jogging, Much Ado About Nothing was one of the many classic comedies which Shakespeare wrote. It focuses around two cousins Beatrice (Meera Syal) and Hero (Amara Karan) and their two lovers Benedick (Paul Bhattacharjee) and Claudio (Sagar Arya). Whilst Beatrice and Benedick scorn each other, they are nonetheless tricked into confessing their love for one another. On...

I was crawling on my hands and knees on a filthy concrete dressing room floor in Tijuana, Mexico. This was not a scene from Papillon; this was me after a gig. It was 1993. My band, Zuzu’s Petals, had just completed the most embarrassing blind-drunk set of our careers, and I was worried that we’d be kicked off our fabulous one-month, high-profile tour -- opening for the dreamy new-wave swashbuckler Adam Ant -- because I was behaving so unprofessionally. Zuzu’s Petals’ stock was finally rising, thanks to our well-received first album. With more people in the crowd, I felt more responsibility to put on a decent show and not be sh*tfaced.
Broken glass embedded itself in my palms and kneecaps as I dragged myself to the toilet, which sat bare and open in the dressing room. After I’d heaved a day’s worth of tequila shots...

I don't need any more "Call Me Maybe" covers. But a mash-up with Annie Lennox's "Walking on Broken Glass?" Definitely. Carly Rae Jepsen's No. 1 smash summer hit has been successfully melded with Lennox's 1992 hit by Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, and posted on his Tumblr as "Call Me on Broken Glass." "This one is strictly for the lulz," Batmanglij posted. And here I thought it was for a Grammy. Jepsen's track has also been mashed-up with other big pop tracks with equally sunny dispositions, like Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life." As we reported yesterday, "Call Me Maybe" finally hit No....

'At my first audition, they asked me things like: How are you? It didn't seem hard enough'
What got you started?
An uncle I loved got me into Fred Astaire when I was young. We had a scratchy old album of the Top Hat musical. I'd pretend I could tap-dance and my uncle would say: "Go, Tara, go!"
What was your big breakthrough?
My first job: a film called Hear My Song. I was still at Drama Centre, an intense, method-based school in London, and after three years of that, I couldn't believe the audition. It involved things like people saying: "Hello, how are you?" It didn't seem hard enough.
Are women in theatre and film under excessive pressure to look good?

For Mark Rylance, it's Rooster in Jerusalem. For Alison Steadman, it's Bev in Abigail's Party … leading actors on the parts they will never escape
Mark Rylance
Plays Johnny "Rooster" Byron in Jerusalem by Jez Butterworth, which opened at the Royal Court in 2009 and travelled to Broadway. It has just returned to London, where it is showing at the Apollo theatre in the West End.
Jerusalem first came to me in 2003, when I was too busy running the Globe. Back then it was called St George's Day. The pages were written with an old typewriter and it was very raw, so different to anything else. Sometimes, instead of characters' names, there was just pages of dialogue. It reminded me of how much as a kid I had resonated with adults outside of society, how much I liked their language and stories.
I got busy with other projects and they saw other actors.

Wow! I seem to say that a lot after watching Ringer.
With a title like "A Whole New Kind Of Bitch," though, I knew the episode would be good - but I never expected the ending and that's what makes this show so much fun.
What did Henry do?!? When Andrew showed up at his door and Henry had that wild look in his eyes, you knew something was horribly wrong.
This show did such a great job of maintaining the mystery. There was obviously a fight. A bad one. Broken glass on the floor and blood on the wall said nothing good happened here. But where was Gemma? We didn't see her body. Is she dead or alive?
But let's rewind to the beginning. None of the characters on Ringer are saints, that's for sure. That's also increasingly entertaining.
Gemma found out Henry had an affair with Siobhan. That would be shocking enough,...

Has Lindsay Lohan lost it? The actress continued her reign of destruction and upheaval on New York Fashion Week, when she threw more than a tantrum at the V Magazine Black and White Ball at The Standard Hotel.
The Cut reports that without warning Lindsay Lohan stood up from where she was hanging out with a friend and threw a drink -- glass and all -- hitting a cocktail waitress.
Lohan's aim wasn't that great because she reportedly screamed at the waitress, "Not you, him!" pointing a man in a white T-shirt.
That man was V magazine photographer Jasper Rischen who confirmed the incident when he tweeted:
"Wow. Lindsay Lohan is as trashy as they always say. She threw drinks and glasses to me as we tried to take a shot for @vmagazine. C.*.*.t."
Lohan must have found it horrible that a photographer who works for the magazine of...

Guys, the toppled lawn chair wasn't the only damage caused by yesterday's 5.9 East Coast earthquake. It was practically "Day After Tomorrow" in D.C.
In fact, the historic Washington Monument did suffer some damage. Passengers in an airplane flying over the National Mall spotted a crack near the top of the 555-foot tall stone obelisk. The Park Service has closed the monument for an indefinite period while the damage is repaired.
Also damaged was the Smithsonian Institution, located near the Monument on the Mall. Broken glass and cracks in the building, which is over 150 years old, forced a closure there, too. The Smithsonian Museums, however, remain open to tourists. Public schools have also closed for inspection, extending summer vacation just a bit longer.

If you accidentally slit your mother's throat after accidentally causing a car crash, you might be traumatized too. On January 26, 1963, young Helen walks in on her mother, thrusting naked on top of her boyfriend in bed. That's terribly upsetting for a child, of course. One month later, Helen wakes up in the back seat of a car and sees a man apparently molesting her mother, who's driving. She wants to protect her mommy, but, instead ... crash! bang! Broken glass, blood, and guilt commingle in a toxic mix that guarantees Helen will suffer from horrendous nightmares for the rest of her life. 1980's Nightmares, released in the UK as Stage Fright, is a prime slice of classic Ozploitation. It dashes through its...

It seems more and more adult movie stars are making a movie into the mainstream these days, and many through the horror genre – and Tori Black is no different… Most probably best known in geek circles as Wonder Woman in the Jla XXX porn parody, Black is to make her mainstream movie debut in Broken Glass Films‘ Half Moon, which is the story of:

You'd think with a name like Axl -- dude would have some respect for a quality automobile -- instead Mr. Rose is accused of beating the hell out of a $192k Bentley. The Guns N' Roses singer is being sued over a 2006 Bentley Flying Spur -- a pretty badass ride. According to a lawsuit filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Axl leased the car through Bentley Financial Services back in 2005 -- then flaked on $73,976.42 in payments and fees.

After watching tonight's epic season finale of House, "Help Me," I now have a much higher appreciation of season six on the whole. This whole season, I've felt like there's been something missing. Something has been disjointed. I didn't know where it was going. I didn't know where House was in the grand scheme of things. Now I know.
Cuddy was House's end game. It was a twisted path, but we're finally there. With the exceptional use of non-chronological order, we're given a little hint of where we're going to end up. House. With vicodin in hand. Broken glass. And in his bathroom. Sound familiar? It did to me. If nothing else, the show House is brilliant in the way it is able to hearken back to old scenes, old lines, and old themes. With that, I wanted to review this episode using parallels to discuss how amazing this finale was.

Okay, so we all know that Nintendo recently announced that the 3Ds, the new generation of the DS, will be released in March 2011. This should be the first gaming system to feature glasses-free 3D images, and definitely one of the first anythings to feature glasses-free 3D. It may look something like this, but now that we know, we must speculate about everything else, like the top 10 games we want to see on the 3Ds.
About a month after a patent was released showing definite tactile feedback for something, another newly released patent is backing that up, and this time, specifically for some sort of hand held device. It seems that the 3Ds is gonna rumble.
This patent, in a mid-sized .pdf file, shows that this new, very DS-looking Nintendo device will have a “vibrating motor” and two cameras. Sounds pretty 3D-y to us.
So we should get, uhh… excited? Because everyone and their grandmother loves,...

Remember that time that you thought a television program in its 8th season would make a great movie? And then you made Sex and the City, and it grossed eleventy billion dollars? Yes, that's right. I'm assuming the entire readership of Fsr amounts to Sarah Jessica Parker. Anyway, Mrs. Parker, the point I'm trying to make is that it seems like a dull idea for Jack Bauer to make his transition to the big screen so late in the game. Of course, I'm also an idiot, because "24" is still boasting 11.2 million viewers even if it's experiencing the third lowest ratings in all of its 8 seasons. Basically, it still packs a punch. But does that mean it will translate to serious box office? I have no idea. You know why? Because we're months and months away from even seeing a trailer, so anyone speculating at this point would be doing just that: speculating. However...
