"Like this post or he'll eat your blood!!" Omg, click click click!! There's clever two minute short films, and then there's amazingly clever two minute short films. This one is the latter. Double Tap is a clever horror comedy short from Greek filmmaker Eros Vlahos (aka @Eros_V) and it packs a punch in only 2 minutes, 42 seconds of footage. A screen-obsessed teen ignores an Instagram meme chain and unleashes a Dickless Troll. Big mistake. Starring Olive Grey and "The Dickless Troll". Described by Short of the Week: "There are films that demand a theatrical viewing. Films where the director would have nightmares at the thought of a person hunched over their mobile device watching their hard work on a 5.6" screen – this isn't one of them." Ha. So true! This is one of the best takes on social media horror I've ever seen. Click below - or don't? Thanks to Short...

Strip away the superhero shenanigans and X-Men DNA and Deadpool is not too dissimilar to the Zombieland franchise. Hell, Wade Wilson is essentially a zombie thanks to his miraculous healing abilities.
The two franchises share another thing in common, too: screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who are partly to blame for Double Tap‘s long spell in development limbo. They were busy, of course, given Wernick and Reese have spent the past five years launching the Merc With a Mouth into the stratosphere, during which time Ryan Reynolds became an Internet favorite (if he wasn’t already) for his pitch-perfect performance as Deadpool.
And it turns out Reynolds almost had a cameo role in Zombieland: Double Tap a la Bill Murray. But, sadly, it wasn’t to be: Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have held their hands up to admit that they “let the opportunity slip through our fingers.

It will come down to Monday actuals to determine this weekend’s No. 1, as Warner Bros./Village Roadshow’s “Joker” and Disney’s “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” are in a virtual tie on this pre-Halloween weekend.
“Joker” is currently being given the edge with $18.9 million in its fourth weekend, with “Maleficent” just behind with $18.5 million in its second weekend. The Disney sequel, with its $185 million budget, will rely on overseas numbers to turn a profit, as it reaches a $65 million 10-day domestic total and a $293 million global total.
But the big box office achievement belongs to “Joker,” as it becomes the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, not counting for inflation. Domestically, it now has a total of $277 million, which ranks it in the top 10 among all R-rated films. But globally, it is now the first R-rated film with a raw total of over $800 million, as it added $47.8 million...

It's been 10 years since we first visited Zombieland, but it's very nice to see the familiar faces of our favorite zombie slayers in Zombieland: Double Tap. The follow-up to the 2009 zombie comedy brings back the core gang including Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), and introduces a score of new survivors who are just trying to make it in this crazy, post-apocalyptic world.

While specialty titles spent this weekend breaking records, overall performance showed that the season’s weakness continues. The clearest sign comes from the disappointing start for “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil;” following “Gemini Man,” it’s the second very expensive domestic disappointment in as many weeks. Another sequel, “Zombieland; Double Tap” had a decent start, although as expected it was bested by the third weekend of “Joker.”
All told, it’s another weekend below the same period in 2018. With an estimated total of around $136 million, that’s 20% lower than last year, when “Halloween” opened to more than “Maleficent” and “Zombieland” combined. It also extends the annual shortfall to nearly $550 million and almost 6%, eliminating any real hope of box-office growth.
Disney dominance is propelled by an assembly line that includes its live-action versions of animated and other kids classics. However, this sequel to “Maleficent” opened to less than half of the 2014 original; at a $200 million production cost,...

Zombieland: Double Tap doesn’t waste time telling you that you’re watching a zombie movie. The Columbia Pictures logo comes to life, fighting off multiple would-be enemies, leading to a Deadpool-esque opening credits sequence. It’s not new by any means, but it reminds you why you like zombie movies in the first place: they’re fun as hell.
The rest of the film follows its opening: an enjoyable movie-going experience with a lack of plot, a lack of originality, yet just enough movie stars, inside jokes, and heart to make it worthwhile. Double Tap follows our leads from a decade earlier, Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), as they traverse the new-look world that’s still full of zombies. The actors themselves have aged nicely as well, with Harrelson, Eisenberg, Stone, and Breslin all maintaining prolific and award-winning careers.

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for “Zombieland: Double Tap.”]
Halfway through Ruben Fleischer’s long-awaited “Zombieland” sequel, “Zombieland: Double Tap,” the seemingly inevitable happens: someone mentions Bill Murray. It’s not a happy memory for anyone involved. In the original 2009 film, the beloved comedian played himself in an amusing cameo, welcoming the film’s core four into his Hollywood mansion after a long journey. Murray has survived the zombie plague by utilizing his acting talents for a fresh role: he pretends to be a zombie, all the better to keep the brain-gobblers confused. It’s a classic zombie movie trick, but one thrown into total disarray when Eisenberg’s notoriously jumpy Columbus is spooked by a costumed Murray, who amiably waddles into his swanky screening room to surprise Columbus and Breslin’s Little Rock.
Columbus shoots him dead, thus knocking off one more red-blooded human and a Hollywood legend to boot. It’s one of the best gags of the film,...

Ever since the House of Mouse gained control of 20th Century Fox, swallowing everything the company had in its repertoire, the question has been flopping between “when” and “if” we’ll be getting Deadpool 3. Thankfully, the meter seems to now be set on “when,” and the answer, though this has yet to be officially confirmed by Disney, is 2022, according to our sources.
This speculation and excitement has been propelled by the release of writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick’s latest project, Zombieland: Double Tap. Earlier this week, Reese and Wernick revealed that they were planning to continue the mouthy series in its R-rated universe, a barrier which no McU movie has yet crossed.
Now, in an interview with Fandom, they provided some insight on when exactly we could see the film. And apparently, all the eggs are in Kevin Feige’s basket.

Spoilers for Zombieland: Double Tap ahead!
There are a lot of reasons to check out Zombieland: Double Tap and most of them are for the nostalgia-filled nuggets dropped in almost every scene. Taking place 10 years after the first film, Double Tap follows the original gang of four after Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) runs off with a hippie stoner named Berkeley (Avan Jogia) in a fit of teenage angst. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), and Wichita (Emma Stone) race after her in a cross-country adventure as they battle intellectually evolved zombies and meet a bunch of new survivors who help them along the way.
All in all, the film is a sweet story about finding home mixed in with a lot of violence and gory zombie kills. Even so, the prize jewel of the movie (other than Zoey Deutch's earnestly ditsy Madison) might be the Bill Murray pop-up that...

For a while, it looked like it might never happen, but Zombieland: Double Tap finally hits cinemas this week and has already picked up a slew of positive reviews. But as good as the movie seems to be, it may have been even better if they’d have gone ahead with a proposed crossover with The Walking Dead.
Of course, despite both being in the same post-apocalyptic zombie genre, their tones couldn’t be more different. Zombieland is irreverent and fun, while The Walking Dead is serious and extremely grim. But, for a brief shining moment, it appeared the two worlds could indeed intersect.
Director Ruben Fleischer mentioned the idea in an interview with Uproxx, saying:
Emma had a funny idea that as our heroes are kind of making their way through the post-apocalyptic landscape, they come across, just in passing, some members of the cast of the Walking Dead.

One year after “Venom” dominated the box office around the world, director Ruben Fleischer remains unsure why film critics targeted the comic book film with some of the worst reviews of 2019. “Venom,” starring Tom Hardy as the notorious Spider-Man villain, carries a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes. In a recent interview with Fandom, Fleischer said if he had the opportunity to change one thing about “Venom,” it would be the film’s dire critical reception.
“I was really bummed that people didn’t like it because it’s a crowd-pleasing movie and I’m not sure if there was just blowback against Sony or people just worship Marvel,” Fleischer said. “But I was really surprised that the critics [were gunning for it] because audiences really enjoyed the movie. And so many people who’ve seen it just appreciated that it was a fun superhero movie. So I was a little surprised. I don’t know what they were expecting.

A pair of sequels hit theaters this weekend in Disney's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Sony's Zombieland: Double Tap, the latter arriving in theaters ten years after the original. Both will earn spots in the top three, though sandwiched between them will be WB's Joker, which looks to continue its strong run and potentially top $250 million domestically by the end of the weekend. At the same time, still in limited release, Neon's Parasite is adding 30 locations and may find its way into the top ten if it can maintain momentum from last weekend. Looking at what will be its seventh #1 opening of the year, Disney will debut Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in over 3,700 locations. The film, which finds Angelina Jolie reprising the title role, arrives five years after the original opened with nearly $70 million and went on to gross over $758 million worldwide. However, the appetite for the...

There are more zombie movies than there were zombies in the original Night of the Living Dead. Is that true? Feels like it. It’s a genre so over-saturated that its longevity resembles its slobbering, brain-hungry baddies. There’s a palpable relentlessness to it, as though the genre itself pushes back whenever anyone announces its demise. Then there’s Zombieland, […]

It’s no secret that Zombieland: Double Tap spent an awful long time teetering on the fringes of development – hell, the first movie released all the way back in 2009.
And while 10 years have lapsed since we last saw Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin laying waste to the undead, it turns out the core cast wanted to jump-start production on Double Tap as soon as Zombieland hit theaters. There was just one problem: screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had just landed the gig of a lifetime in Deadpool, and wound up penning its no-holds-barred sequel.
In doing so, Reese and Wernick pushed Double Tap onto the back-burner, as Eisenberg and Co. only wanted to commit to a sequel once the script was in place. Via The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor recounts that journey to the big screen.
We waited 10 years to do the movie—we didn’t wait.

Zombieland: Double Tap, like its 2009 predecessor, is a triumph of casting and style over substance. As the original was, Double Tap has the slick sheen of the highest-end marketing campaign, looking polished and buffed even as it depicts the blood-soaked world in which a zombie apocalypse has taken over and a few human stragglers […]

Most unexpected sequels — the kinds of movies you see a trailer of in theaters and ask your seatmate, “Did that really need a sequel?” — are usually watered-down retreads of the original movie. They either make you miss what made the first movie so fun or memorable, or, at worst, make you question why you liked that original film in the first place.
Fortunately, “Zombieland: Double Tap” dodges many of the signs of sequel fatigue by acknowledging the ten-year gap between movies and developing the characters from where they started. Their adventures take on delicious new turns but never stray too far from the original idea of what it means to be a family when most of humanity has turned into brain-eating corpses.
Remarkably, all four members of the original gang are back for another round: The neurotic and bookish Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is much less of a lonely college boy...

A full 10 years have passed since Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland blasted into theaters, and boy, how things have changed.
Fast forward to 2019, and Marvel’s entire Infinity Saga has come and gone, culminating in the launch of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Wonder Woman got her own movie (at long last), Black Panther was nominated for Best Picture, and Fleischer dipped his toe in the inky-black waters of Venom, Sony’s anti-hero pic that sent Eddie Brock into the stratosphere.
For Fleischer, though, things have come full circle, as the filmmaker is now on the verge of releasing the aptly-titled Zombieland: Double Tap. And it seems the undead have somehow – almost inexplicably – evolved, sending Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock on a new mission across the ravaged Us of A.

Zombieland: Double Tap will be arriving in cinemas more than a decade after the first movie, and after such a long period of absence from our screens, you have to wonder if the horror-comedy series can still maintain its spark of energy and inspiration. But for what it’s worth, actor Woody Harrelson sure sounds like he’s having a fun time revisiting the post-apocalyptic world of the 2009 film.
Harrelson recently attended SXSW, where his new Netflix drama The Highwaymen had its premiere. While there, he spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming sequel and the many laughs he’s had on set.
“What we’ve shot so far, I’m really impressed with,” Harrelson said. “Getting to hang out with these guys — Emma, and Abbie, and Jesse, and Ruben — I feel so lucky, really, really lucky. You know, it’s literally laughing all day long, and that’s your job.

Zombieland: Double Tap adds yet another noteworthy addition to its impressive cast list today in the form of Thomas Middleditch, who’ll be joining returning players Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin in the long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s Zombieland.
While many of you will know Middleditch best as the star of the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley, the actor has also dabbled in horror-comedy with the 2015 film The Final Girls, and is also set to appear in the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Middleditch is one of several recognizable newcomers already confirmed for Double Tap, with Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch and Avan Jogia previously reported to be on board.
While we’ve yet to learn anything about Middleditch’s character, we do have a few details on the story of Ruben Fleischer’s next film. According to recent reports, the sequel sees the old gang living...

Since Zombieland introduced the double tap survival rule in 2009, many fans have been hungry for a sequel, and last summer it was revealed that Zombieland 2 would indeed be moving forward with the original cast returning. In the post-apocalypse, though, the survivors from the first film are bound to encounter new faces, and it's been revealed that Rosario Dawson has joined the cast, and the official poster and potential title for the sequel have also been revealed.
Revealed on the official Zombieland Twitter account as part of the movie's own 10 Year Challenge, the first poster for the Zombieland sequel (see below) can be viewed below, featuring the characters in nearly identical poses to the original movie's poster. The new poster also comes the tagline "Double Tap," which could mean that the sequel's official title is Zombieland: Double Tap.
Additionally, the news of Rosario Dawson's casting comes from The Hollywood Reporter.

Our very own Kellvin Chavez attended a special 20th Century Fox press event last night, where he was treated to exclusive footage from two of their 2017 blockbusters: Logan and Alien: Covenant. What a lucky duck. I'm more than a little jealous.
Anyway!
While at the event, he spied a new official image from Logan that actually hasn't yet been released via the production's official Instagram. Fox's PR department has been wisely using that social media account to unleash all kinds of dramatic, cinematic imagery from the X-Men offshoot starring Hugh Jackman in his last hurrah as Wolverine.
Being the guerrilla film reporter that he is, Kellvin passed the Logan photo over to me and told me to share it with you, our amazing Lrm readers:

Having gone through a rough breakup with long-term boyfriend Jason Derulo, Sparks just didn't want to go there again with Sage, the source says. Xbox One owners won’t have to wait long to download the console’s July update. That’s because, according to Microsoft, the update will become available “in the coming days,” which is good news for achievement fanatics.
You may remember that this July update was outed during Microsoft’s E3 2014 presser, with its big draw being the ability to Snap to the system’s achievement tracking app during gameplay. Being able to do so will not only make the device more user-friendly, but it will also allow gamers to figure out how close they are to unlocking specific achievements on the fly. Gone will be the need to momentarily exit game sessions in order to look up said information.
Going further, it’s also been mentioned that this month’s Xbox One update will allow for:

The Walking Dead: Top Ten Scenes from Season 2
Written by: Dana Fredsti
As a long time zombie aficionado and fan of The Walking Dead comics back when the first one was published, you can bet I’ve seen every episode of The Walking Dead on AMC. And, like all fans, I definitely have my favorite moments, although not always for obvious reasons. Here, in no particular order, is my top ten list of favorite scenes from season two:
Zombie Herd in Episode One
While not exactly the action packed season opener fans hoped for, episode one had some cool moments, including the first appearance of a zombie “herd” on the move. There was genuine tension when our heroes hid under cars (and bodies) to avoid detection, and we got to see Daryl overcome his racist upbringing and rescue T-Dog (who actually had a few lines!). In a couple of weeks, Mass Effect 3 will be hitting store shelves. There is a good amount of pressure riding on the third entry because it is a follow up to one of the greatest games of this generation. Mass Effect 2 wowed audiences with its complex narrative and deep fiction. While there might be those who do not care for the franchise, you still have to respect the technical accomplishments that BioWare (the developer) has made with the series. Mass Effect 2 is not perfect, the mining sequences are tedious and felt mechanical compared to the seamless narrative; and the combat, while enjoyable, is not the best part of the game. My love for Mass Effect comes from the deep character development and how my companions react to the choices I’ve made in the game. The fiction is engrossing as well, not since the Elder Scrolls games have I cared...

The horror-comedy. Perhaps the most difficult sub-genre of film to perfect. Most attempts at horror-comedy don't come off well. Either they're too scary without enough comedy or (more frequently) mostly humor with not enough horror. A lot of times they just come across as trying too hard and cheesy. But every once in a while a movie gets it just right. And when that happens, audiences embrace and celebrate the brilliant and elusive successful horror-comedy.
That being said, in celebration of the upcoming release of Trent Haaga's Chop, we did our best to put together a list of 10 horror-comedies (in no particular order) that we feel are the most impressive efforts in the field. Wocka, wocka, wocka!

There’s a lot of evil out there! Disposing of the nasty creatures, monsters, zombies, witches, vampires and the like is a dirty job, but somebody’s gotta do it. Harkening back to the golden era of Hong Kong cops 'n' criminals flicks, Derek Yee's Triple Tap kicks off with not one, but two high-adrenaline action sequences before settling down to tell its story. A sequel, of sorts, to Double Tap, released in 2000, the new film again features a civilian and a police inspector who are expert marksmen. Ken Kwan (Louis Koo) is a successful investment banker who wins a shooting competition with a rare "triple tap" (three shots fired into the same spot), narrowly defeating the best efforts of Chong (Daniel Wu). But the glum-looking Kwan doesn't seem to take any joy in his victory, grabbing his trophy and heading back to his office to work overtime. On his way back, he...

Derek Yee, currently one of the hottest thriller directors working in Hong Kong at the moment after the likes of “Shinjuku Incident” and the awesome “One Nite in Mongkok”, returns with “Triple Tap”. A follow up of sorts to the 2000 Leslie Cheung starring “Double Tap”, the film again takes place in the world of sharpshooting and men driven to the edge by the dangerous power of wielding a gun. I asked the same thing but clearly I put up enough of a good front to fool the little people into thinking I'm personable and responsible instead of kind of manic and prone to shoutiness. So I fooled them and got the job and now I've gots to get paid, yo. I won't get into too much detail, because really, who cares? Suffice it to say that it's messed up my sleeping schedule big time and I've been spending my afternoons in a state of half-zombiedom. On the one hand I crash by 10pm like an old lady (and my 27th birthday is in a couple of weeks--i'm practically ancient! Woe! *dodges stones from the real cronies*) and miss late night Facebook shenanigans.
