About fifteen minutes of this silent version of LIEBELEI seem to survive in bit and pieces -- mostly concerning the duel sequence, in order but not edited together in a terribly cogent fashion. The actors seen stony-faced and a bit daft, which is probably not terribly wrong for people on their way to shoot at each other over a matter of honor.
Schnitzler apparently wanted to make this as a pure kammeraspiel, everything told by pantomime with no titles, but the executives at Nordisk seem to have nixed the suggestion. There are no titles on view. There is certainly a lot of talent on view, from the director and writer down to the actors. However, unless more of this shows up, there is no sensible way to judge its worth.
