It takes a certain caliber of actors to move seamlessly through the entertainment industry and make just enough waves while avoiding the pitfalls.
That's what Jennifer Morrison has managed to do in almost 30 years of her career.
While the actress has primarily stayed in the television lane, she's been in her fair share of films.
However, after her unforgettable role as Emma Swan, Morrison has taken up a directorial hat and is now working behind the scenes.
Don't worry, though, because we have compiled a list of some of the actress's most prolific work.
Also, for those inclined to IMDb, be sure to check out the cast list of a specific slasher entry on the list.
It's technically the only slasher movie here, but you'll still see some big names.
The actor has rubbed elbows with some of Hollywood's biggest names, so don't be surprised if you recognize her from some big-budget films and franchises.

Jennifer Nettles, lead vocalist of the country duo Sugarland and a successful solo artist, got into acting by playing Dolly Parton’s mother in the 2015 TV movie Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors. Since then she has appeared in the sequel to that movie, Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, performed in Chicago and Waitress on Broadway, had roles in the film Harriet and the TV series Underground, and appeared on multiple episodes of the HBO show The Righteous Gemstones… which happens to be executive produced by David Gordon Green, so that paved the way for her to have a role in Green’s most recent film, The Exorcist: Believer. Now Deadline reports that Nettles is following her Exorcist role by being cast in another genre project: the horror action series The Bondsman!

Earlier this week, we caught word that Universal Pictures is moving forward with a new entry in the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise – which is no surprise, since the Jurassics and Fast & Furious are the studio’s two big moneymakers. What’s interesting about this new sequel is the fact that the screenplay is being written by David Koepp, who previously wrote the original Jurassic Park and its follow-up The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Now paleontologist and evolutionary biologist Steve Brusatte has taken to social media to confirm that the project is moving forward – and he knows, because it’s so far along that he has already signed on to be the dinosaur expert consultant on it. That’s a job Brusatte also had on the previous movie, Jurassic World Dominion, where he was consultant alongside paleontologist Jack Horner, who has been a consultant on all six Jurassic movies to date.

A minor work from a major filmmaker, Presence is Oscar-winner Steven Soderbergh’s first official foray into supernatural horror. Shot primarily in a single, standalone set over less than two weeks and a limited shooting schedule, Presence doesn’t reinvent or reimagine tropes associated with haunted house or supernatural ghost stories. Far from it. What Presence does do — in Soderbergh’s approach to formal experimentation within predetermined boundaries — it does far better and far more effectively than the vast majority of filmmakers currently writing and directing within the horror space could achieve within the same preset parameters. Working from a seemingly simple, straightforward script written by David Koepp, Soderbergh removes any...

In the wake of Netflix acquiring It’s What’s Inside out of Sundance 2024, another hot genre movie that world premiered at Sundance has found itself a distribution home this week.
Steven Soderbergh’s ghost story Presence has been acquired by Neon, with Deadline first reporting the news. The site notes, “I haven’t got a deal number to share, but there were about 10 bidders so it’s a healthy sum for a thriller that has gotten uniformly strong reviews at the festival.”
One of those strong reviews came from Meagan Navarro right here on Bloody Disgusting, who awarded Presence 4 stars out of a possible 5 stars in her review published over the weekend.
Meagan raves, “Unsane director Steven Soderbergh reunites with Kimi screenwriter David Koepp (Stir of Echoes) to give an innovative new spin on the quintessential ghost story. Presence frames its haunted events entirely from the perspective of its ghost.

The writer of the original Jurassic Park is headed back to the world of dinosaurs, with THR reporting that David Koepp is writing the next installment of the Jurassic World franchise.
Koepp also wrote The Lost World: Jurassic Park II for Steven Spielberg, along with notable films including Carlito’s Way, Mission: Impossible, Stir of Echoes, and War of the Worlds.
THR notes, “The project, which has been flying under the radar, is far enough along, and the script in a well-liked shape, that the studio is whispering of a possible 2025 release date.”
The site also reveals that this next installment in the Jurassic World saga will take us into “a new Jurassic era,” with a brand new storyline and potentially all new characters.

Some gigantic news today for lovers of dinosaur-centric cinema, as one of the original creatives behind "Jurassic Park" is returning to the fold more than 30 years later. The "Jurassic World" trilogy may have ended in 2022 with the release of "Jurassic World Dominion," but Universal Pictures is evidently trying to keep the series alive with a new movie -- one that might be coming our way sooner rather than later. While details are scarce for the time being, it has come to light that none other than David Koepp is writing a new movie in the franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Koepp is not only writing a new "Jurassic" movie, but it is pretty far along in the development process. So much so that a 2025 release date is said to be possible, which would be downright remarkable given that this is the first thing we've officially heard about the film.

One of Kevin Bacon’s earliest roles came in the 1980 slasher classic Friday the 13th, and he has enjoyed returning to the horror genre now and then ever since. A few years ago, he teamed up with Blumhouse Television to try to get a television series follow-up to the creature feature Tremors going at Syfy. That didn’t work out, but now Bacon and Blumhouse Television are joining forces again for a horror action series called The Bondsman!
Deadline reports that The Bondsman is set up at Amazon’s Prime Video. Bacon will be taking on the role of Hub Halloran, a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, and love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist.
The first season of the series is expected to consist of eight half-hour episodes.

I was able to cover my favorite movie of all time in the first episode with The Thing and now we are going to look at an adaptation, or 3, of my favorite story of all time. While you may not know the work of Richard Matheson by name, I guarantee you know the work and the artist from somewhere. He is one of the most successful writers both on screen and off of the 20th century and many of his works have been adapted multiple times over. For the first-ever franchise in A24 history, Ti West recently wrapped production on his third film in his X and Pearl universe trilogy, the sky-highly anticipated MaXXXine.
With a stacked cast boasting the likes of Elizabeth Debicki, Halsey, Kevin Bacon, Lily Collins, Michelle Monaghan, Giancarlo Esposito, and Bobby Cannavale and, of course, the mega return of Mia Goth to reprise her role as Maxine Minx, the film will follow the titular character as she chases showbiz life in Los Angeles circa 1985, where production also took place last month. (No word on an official release date yet.) Keeping plot details under lock and key, very little is known about the upcoming film, therefore, so much can be speculated about it.
Here are 10 possibilities, theories, and things we’d love to see in the upcoming MaXXXine. After all, we deserve nice things. We have cosmopolitan taste.

Sometimes, a particular subgenre simply isn’t your thing. I can count the number of haunted house movies I like with no fear of running out of fingers: Robert Wise’s original The Haunting; The Innocents; Crimson Peak; Hausu; Beetlejuice if you count comedies. Lake Mungo is a borderline case, not truly a haunted house movie for me, but a great film. I might also say The Others, but I last saw it about 20 years ago, so who knows? There’s one more I enjoy a lot, and we’ll come to that, but to cut a long story short, The Changeling had a bit of a mountain to climb with me. I’ll say this upfront: if you’re generally into ghost/haunting movies, you can add a star to my grade here.

If you can’t beat ’em, the old saying goes, join ’em. In Kevin Bacon’s case, that meant accepting the fact that Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon — the party game that requires you to link every known actor to Bacon in six movies or less — was never going away. So he embraced the phenomenon and founded SixDegrees.org in 2007, a charitable organization whose efforts to fight hunger are being honored Nov. 1 in New York City with a Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award (named for the “Cat’s in the Cradle” songwriter).
And speaking of joining ’em, Bacon’s daughter, Sosie Bacon — who stars in Paramount’s gruesome hit Smile — is now well on her way toward joining her father as a horror movie icon. (Dad, you may recall, has been in a number of classic scary films, dating all the way back to 1980’s Friday the 13th.

Fresh off the heels of Jane Campion’s best director win at the Oscars, Kathryn Bigelow is also heading to Netflix for her next project. Bigelow, who became the first woman to win a directing Oscar in 2010 for “The Hurt Locker,” will direct “Aurora,” based on David Koepp’s upcoming thriller novel of the same name, for the streamer.
Koepp will also write the film’s screenplay, which will join his long list of credits including “Mission: Impossible” and “Jurassic Park.” The novel “Aurora” is set to be released on June 7 by Harper Collins.
Per Netflix’s announcement of the project on Twitter, the film “follows characters who are coping with the collapse of the social order, set against a catastrophic worldwide power crisis.” The novel’s blurb sets the story in Aurora, Illinois, where Aubrey Wheeler and her teenage son are forced to fend for themselves in the wake of a massive power outage.

It’s been too long since we saw Freddy Krueger on the big screen. Leaving aside his blink and you’ll miss it cameo in Ready Player One, he last appeared in the 2010 reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street, with Jackie Earle Haley donning the razor-clawed glove. But as good as Haley was, he’s no Robert Englund, whose last full performance was in Freddy vs. Jason way back in 2003.
We may yet see Englund back in the role in a future movie, but as he celebrated his 73rd birthday earlier this month, he seems to be busy making plans for a successor. And that might just be Kevin Bacon, who Englund anointed as the one actor he believes could do the role justice. Now, Bloody Disgusting have asked Bacon whether he’d be interested and he said the following:

Stars: Kevin Bacon, Amanda Seyfried, Avery Essex, Colin Blumenau, Joshua C. Jackson, Lowri Ann Richards, Eli Powers | Written and Directed by David Koepp
Kevin Bacon reunites with Stir of Echoes director writer-director David Koepp for You Should Have Left, a haunted holiday home horror produced by BlumHouse and based on the novel by Daniel Kehlmann. As such, it’s an entertaining and enjoyable picture that makes up for its relatively simple plot with striking direction, a strong sense of atmosphere and a trio of terrific performances.
Bacon plays Theo Conroy, a wealthy former banker who’s now married to his much younger second wife, Hollywood actress Susanna (Amanda Seyfried), with whom he has an adorable five year old daughter, Ella (Avery Essex). Struggling with jealousy issues (he keeps a feelings journal and listens to self-help recordings), Theo suggests the family take a vacation before Susanna’s next movie starts shooting in London.

Jason Blum needs no introduction to horror fans. His company, Blumhouse Productions, has produced or been associated with some of the biggest and most effective horror titles of the last 15 years: Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister, The Purge, Unfriended, Happy Death Day, and the recent Halloween reboot are all standouts on the Blumhouse slate.
Like every other studio in Hollywood, Blumhouse had to shutdown nearly all production in March as the coronavirus pandemic sank its teeth into the world. The company’s last two projects, The Invisible Man and The Hunt, were just beginning their theatrical runs when movie theaters closed down. But Blumhouse’s distributor, Universal Pictures, responded quickly, making both titles available on premium VOD–which it has done now with Blumhouse’s new horror outing, You Should Have Left.

Take a moment and think about how many people have stayed in a hotel room before you? How about a new house? What kind of people lived there before you? How many birthdays were celebrated? Did anything terrible happen inside the house?
The haunted house subgenre has seen its fair share of bumps in the night and scary ghosts in the closet, but these stories have stood the test of time and continue to thrive today, look no further than the success of The Conjuring for proof. Because of their effectiveness to create atmosphere, provide space for scares, and create designs that feel like mazes to get lost in, the haunted house film will always be a vessel to explore for filmmakers. Simply stated, houses are scary.
The mysterious house in David Koepp’s new horror thriller You Should Have Left sits lavishly adorned in the countryside atop a hill.

On the heels of starring in the new horror film You Should Have Left, Kevin Bacon discussed his career and more in the latest installment of Rolling Stone‘s “The First Time.”
Bacon kicked off with the first time he worked with You Should Have Left director David Koepp, known for writing the screenplays to Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and more. The actor starred in the writer-director’s 1999 film Stir of Echoes. “Ever since we made it, I wanted to do something else with him,” he said. “But it took 20 years of,...

Sometimes the greatest conflicts in life aren’t caused by external forces, but instead by subtle, underlying issues that are plaguing the domestic family structure. That’s certainly true for the new thriller, ‘You Should Have Left,’ which was written and directed by genre filmmaker, David Koepp. The acclaimed scribe-helmer, who adapted […]

After last weekend’s influx of movies from big-name directors like Spike Lee and Judd Apatow, the landscape for movies looks to be comparatively calmer this weekend. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a fair share of worthwhile releases hitting VOD and streaming services this weekend, from studio movies with big stars, independently produced treasures coming off of buzzy festival runs and projects from major foreign filmmakers being distributed in the United States.
Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried star in Blumhouse Productions’ latest thriller “You Should Have Left.” Following its release strategies for “Trolls World Tour” and “The King of Staten Island,” Universal has decided to give the movie a “home premiere” and price 48-hour digital rentals at $19.99.
Meanwhile, French director Olivier Assayas’ latest film “Wasp Network” is premiering on Netflix nine months after its debut at the Venice Film Festival last September. The primarily Spanish language film...

The horror genre has always been good to Kevin Bacon, starting with his breakout role–and shockingly memorable death scene–in 1980’s classic Friday the 13th. That appearance made him a permanent part of one of horror’s most legendary franchises while roles in other films like Tremors (which launched a genre brand of its own), Flatliners, Hollow Man and even genre-adjacent offerings such as TV’s The Following have made him a steady presence in the field.
One of his best genre outings was 1999’s Stir of Echoes, an old-fashioned ghost story set in a haunted Chicago home that Bacon made with writer-director David Koepp, based on a novel by the famed horror and sci-fi author, Richard Matheson. While Koepp has directed other films and written screenplays for some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters, the smaller, more intimate Stir of Echoes remains a cult hit on its own.

It’s hard to believe that Kevin Bacon is now entering his sixth decade in Hollywood (he made his big screen debut in 1978’s Animal House), with his latest collaboration with David Koepp, You Should Have Left, being his most recent project. The psychological thriller is currently streaming on VOD and Digital, and in honor of the occasion, Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with Bacon at a recent virtual press day for the film’s release.
During the interview, Bacon discussed his thoughts on reteaming with Koepp and his character in the film, Theo Conroy. The iconic actor also offered up his thoughts on genre storytelling, the timeliness of You Should Have Left’s themes, and more.
How was it reuniting with David on this? And do you look at this film as something of a spiritual successor to Stir of Echoes?

One of my favorite thrillers happens to be the fantastic Stir Of Echoes, directed by David Koepp and starring Kevin Bacon. And when I heard the two were working together again in You Should Have Left, I was more than a little excited. The latest from Blumhouse is a twisted and engaging flick about a married couple renting a mysterious house. The film also stars the delightful Amanda Seyfried and young Avery Tiiu Essex, and it's a spooky little thriller that offers intriguing characters stuck…...

Haunted-house stories occupy a lot of prime real estate in horror — they’re easy narrative structures for four-walling tales of things that go bump in the night and the psyche, the perfect go-to Gothic settings for letting literal ghosts of the past come out to play (or slay). They’re also such a fixture in the public imagination that someone had better bring more than just the same old spooky cobwebs and creaky staircases to the party, or at the very least, construct a superior model of the retro-macabre. According to author Stephen Graham Jones,...

Arriving on digital platforms today is writer/director David Koepp’s mind-bending domestic thriller You Should Have Left, which follows an ill-suited couple (played by Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried) to a remote vacation home that puts their family in jeopardy when ghosts of the past come calling.
Daily Dead recently spoke with Koepp about his latest directorial effort, and he discussed reteaming with Kevin Bacon after several decades for You Should Have Left, and his thoughts on adapting Daniel Kehlmann’s book for the big screen. Koepp also chatted about trends in the horror genre and how he’s excited to get a second chance at working on the upcoming Bride of Frankenstein remake after the project was previously shelved in the fallout from Universal’s Dark Universe implosion a few years ago.

Kevin Bacon has had a long and illustrious career. While many know him from such popular films like Footloose, Tremors, Apollo 13 or Mystic River, he actually got his start in the industry in a pair of teen movies.
It was sort of a rite of passage for every young actor in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s to begin their career in either a raunchy teen comedy or a horror film. For Bacon, he got both. First there was National Lampoon’s Animal House and then Friday the 13th. In the slasher movie, he played Jack, a young heartthrob whose untimely demise comes at the hands of Jason Voorhees’ mother.
For such a thankless role, you’d think fans wouldn’t remember it considering Bacon’s long acting resume. A resume that’s so long, a game was even created connecting his career to everyone else’s. But according to the man himself,...

In a good haunted-house thriller, architecture is destiny. Early on in “You Should Have Left,” when Theo (Kevin Bacon), a wealthy retired banker with a tabloid scandal in his past, shows up with his movie-actress wife, Susanna (Amanda Seyfried), and their six-year-old daughter, Ella (Avery Essex), at the vacation home they’ve rented for a getaway in the Welsh countryside, you know in your bones that you’re watching a variation on “The Shining.”
The creepy originality of the home design is part of it. Just as the fantastic, gargantuan, ski-lodge-gone-Native-American set for the Overlook Hotel was such a major dimension of Stanley Kubrick’s film, here we’re sucked in by the eccentric contours of a place that looks, from the outside, like a gray designer modernist Bauhaus Monopoly house. There’s something wrong with Theo Conroy. A meditation app can’t quiet his mind, which is prone to jealous fantasies and out-there suspicions. Small annoyances rattle him. People look at him askance, his name jarring loose uncomfortable memories, even for seeming strangers. His wife’s success pisses him off. Even his kid knows that something is not quite right with her “Baba.” A vacation can’t solve everything, but it certainly can’t hurt. Or can it? Stepping back from the blockbusters on which he’s built his career — for better and worse — “Jurassic Park” writer and “Mortdecai” director David Koepp turns his attention to the small-scale chills of “You Should Have Left,”

For this review round-up, I’ll be digging into two films coming out this week, the delightfully meta horror anthology Scare Package and You Should Have Left, which features a reunion between writer/director David Koepp and star Kevin Bacon, who last teamed up on Stir of Echoes back in 1999.
Scare Package: Like most horror fans, I absolutely adore horror anthologies because when they’re done right, they can be the perfect showcase for innovative storytelling that celebrates everything we love about the genre. And in the case of Scare Package, that’s exactly what makes this project so special: you can feel the pure, unfettered admiration for horror pulsing through every single segment and the various wraparound segments to boot. It’s hilarious, gory, sometimes a little weird, but as a whole, Scare Package delivers everything you could want out of an anthological horror movie, and so much more.

The first words we hear Kevin Bacon say in “You Should Have Left” are “goddamn nightmares,” a phrase his character spits out after waking from some feverish visions that include long dark hallways, spooky music and a sinister, bedraggled guy threatening a little girl.
There are lots more of those nightmares to come over the next 90 minutes in this psychological thriller – oh, let’s scratch that and call it a horror movie – from writer-director David Koepp, best known as the screenwriter of “Jurassic Park,” “Mission: Impossible,” “War of the Worlds” and “Spider-Man.” Working from a novella by German writer Daniel Kehlmann, Koepp has joined forces with Blumhouse Productions to make a film that’s much closer in scale to his previous directing jobs like “Stir of Echoes” and “The Trigger Effect” than to his blockbuster screenplays, and not nearly as gripping as Blumhouse’s last spin on horror, “The Invisible Man.

Vacationing to distant places can be tricky. The more history a place has, the more exciting it can be to stay there, right? But do you really want to know all of the dark secrets in an old house? Or, even more unsettling, would you want that house to know yours? This is the setup of You Should Have Left, a new Blumhouse horror movie with a mysterious premise.
The latest film from screenwriting adaptation chief extraordinaire, David Koepp, You Should Have Left begins on a marriage that already seems to be preternaturally doomed: successful and very middle-aged Conroy (Kevin Bacon) has started a family with the much younger Susanna (Amanda Seyfried). But there’s a hidden history for each party before their May-December nuptials, with Susanna being a movie actress with dark secrets, and Conroy carrying the baggage of being accused of murder in his past. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have opted to launch the supernatural thriller “You Should Have Left” on premium video-on-demand instead of its planned debut in theaters.
The movie, starring Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried, will be available to rent starting June 19. Along with the release shakeup, the studio also unveiled a new trailer.
It’s the latest revamp in Universal’s schedule in the wake of mass shuttering of multiplexes due to the coronavirus pandemic. Though movie theaters in some states have started to reopen, the majority of cinema chains are still closed.
Judd Apatow’s “The King of Staten Island,” a comedy starring Pete Davidson, will also debut on digital rental services on June 12 in lieu of a traditional theatrical rollout. In April, the studio dropped “Trolls World Tour” on video-on-demand and in drive-ins. Meanwhile, “Fast and Furious” installment “F9,” the next “Minions” sequel, and “Sing 2” were all...

If any author to have existed within our lifetime can lay claim to having a fair amount of their work adapted to cinema, it’s most definitely Stephen King. Granted, his books are amazing in their own right, but there’s something doubly cool about seeing them brought to life.
Of course, Mr. King is just like the rest of us when you get down to it, as he does enjoy taking in a good movie when he has the free time to spare. And when it comes to a mind such as his, it’s expected that folks be curious to learn which flicks he digs most.
