It seems that Sri Lankan cinema is having a great year in 2023, with films like “Paradise” by Prasanna Vithanage and “Whispering Mountains”by Jagath Manuwarna. Visakesa Chandrasekaram follows in the same path with his latest feature, “Sand”, a movie that deals with the intense wound the war has left in the country.

The Who have dropped a fiery new song “I Don’t Wanna Get Wise,” off their upcoming LP Who, out December 6th via Interscope Records.
The track features a thrashing guitar riff with reflective lyrics: “All the shit that we did/Bought us some money I guess/And those snotty young kids/Were a standing success.” The song is reminiscent of the band’s 1975 album The Who by Numbers. “I wrote this in a mid Seventies style,” Pete Townshend said in a statement. “Warning: Don’t get old. You might get wise.

Thomas Rhett looks back fondly on the vehicle that transported him into adulthood in “That Old Truck,” the latest release from his upcoming album Center Point Road. The follow-up to Rhett’s 2017 release Life Changes, Center Point Road will be available May 31st.
A gentle, mostly acoustic number that veers off from the dance-inflected country-pop of Rhett’s current single “Look What God Gave Her,” “That Old Truck” — penned by Rhett with Julian Bunetta, Kamron Kimbro and Ryan Tedder — offers up a series of vivid snapshots from Rhett’s coming of age.

'Emmanuelle' movies producer Alain Siritzky dead at 72 (photo: Sylvia Kristel in 'Emmanuelle' 1974) Emmanuelle franchise producer Alain Siritzky died after what has been described as "a short illness" on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at a Paris hospital. Siritzky, whose credits include dozens of Emmanuelle movies and direct-to-video efforts, several of which starring Sylvia Kristel in the title role, was 72. Ironically, Alain Siritzky didn't produce the original, epoch-making 1974 Emmanuelle. He became involved in that Yves Rousset-Rouard production via his Parafrance Films, which distributed Emmanuelle in France. 'Emmanuelle': 1974 movie sensation A couple of years after the release of Deep Throat and The Devil in Miss Jones (not to mention Boys in the Sand and Eyes of a Stranger), and the year after Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider sparked a furor by having simulated sex in Bernardo Bertolucci's Last Tango in Paris, the 1974 French release Emmanuelle still managed to become a worldwide cause célèbre.

Last night’s flashback-tastic New Girl episode, “Virgins,” was a treasure trove of music to set the mood — some songs more successfully than others — as the loftmates looked back on their first sexual encounters. Anchoring the eclectic mix (which ranged from Sublime to Boyz II Men and even figured in Lisa Loeb), Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen” kicked in during a fan-fulfilling scene between Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel).
It got us thinking of some of our favorite first-time anthems from shows of yore. Below, our ultimate Spotify playlist of coupling tracks!

There may not be any Prime Ministerial pig sex this time, but we're still confident that Charlie Brooker's dark satire Black Mirror will be just as disturbing and thought-provoking second time around.

Rachel Weisz in The Whistleblower The Toronto International Film Festival has added even more films to their line-up today as the complete line-up was announced, which ended up causing the festival's server to crash, but I was lucky enough to get in and get out before missing out on the information.
First off, the festival's Mavericks line-up is quite interesting, which includes a series of guest presentations and this year will see Edward Norton interview Bruce Springsteen, NBA All-Star and native Canadian Steve Nash will present his hour-long film Into the Wind, Apichatpong Weerasethakul will talk with the audience as his Cannes Palm d'Or-winning film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall his Past Lives was just added to the Masters programme, Ken Loach and Paul Laverty will be interviewed by Michael Moore on politics and cinema and Philip Seymour Hoffman will have his own panel. Also on hand will be Bill Gates,...

Question: Though I can’t imagine The Office without Michael Scott, I’m more concerned about Holly and Michael getting their much-needed reunion before he bids adieu. Any chance this will happen? —Meaghan
Ausiello: I’d say there’s a very good chance considering the fact that [exclusive scoop alert!] Amy Ryan (a.k.a. Holly) is not only returning to The Office, but will be playing a sizable role in the show’s upcoming seventh season.
