A triple Claude Dauphin...
... In an important portrait of French Occupation and Libération during WWII with nearly all the opposite characters from that dark period, quite rare in French cinema. My favorite Dauphin's character is certainly Olivier, an absolute distasteful very mannered bourgeois drinking champagne during war, unforgettable. But still great in his 2 other characters, the old patriotic senior being touching. The entire movie is shot in studio, with only a few scenes on location and some stock shots. No particular inventive cinematography, we're in a Berthomieu movie, don't forget. But the dialogues are sometimes such a hit about Occupation, a real must.
Available at French famous DVD editor, who sadly forgot to release on DVD Berthomieu's even better "un certain monsieur Jo", a real forgotten French film noir with an incredible Michel Simon.
