The Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion feud made headlines early this year and also led to fan wars over social media. While there were hints of it earlier, things picked steam when Stallion released her track Hiss. The song contained lyrics mocking Minaj’s husband, which led to her responding by releasing a diss track titled Big Foot.

Much has been speculated about the origin of the feud and what circumstances led to this ugly rivalry that has gone on to include their personal lives. As we look into the timeline of their professional relationship, Stallion’s collab with Cardi B on Wap seems to be the start of all this mess.

On “Hiss,” Megan Thee Stallion made one thing clear: “I don’t give a fuck what y’all make trend. Bitch, I still win.” On Monday, she won.
After nearly a week of Nicki Minaj corroding her legacy by attacking Megan over a seeming “Hiss” diss, the song hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100. To celebrate, Megan asked her Hotties to focus on positivity and vaguely alluded to some of Minaj’s disrespect.

Comedian Katt Williams didn’t consider himself just an acquaintance to Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews. He felt they were close pals. Which was why Williams felt a bit of guilt not reaching out to Crews during a very trying time.

Williams and Crews first worked alongside each other on the Ice Cube movie Friday After Next. Afterwards, both of their careers seemed to go in separate but successful directions. Williams quickly shot to fame as a comedian, and Crews became a successful actor in his own right, appearing in a variety of projects.
In 2017, Crews confided that he was sexually assaulted by a high-power Hollywood agent years ago. Crews’ admission at the time generated a lot of discussion, especially since it was during the peak of the Metoo movement.

In the early hours of the morning, the rapper took to social media for an impromptu meeting of the Barbs as they gear up for the release of Pink Friday 2 on her birthday, Dec. 8. It’s been two decades since the last Friday movie–but the reason we haven’t seen a fourth entry isn’t because Ice Cube is out of ideas. As it turns out, Warner Bros. has a stranglehold on the property and so Ice Cube has had to say “Bye, Felicia!” to the rights.
Ice Cube, who served as actor, writer and producer on 1995’s Friday, 2000’s Next Friday and 2002’s Friday After Next, recently appeared on the “Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson” podcast to discuss the franchise and the studio snags.
On Warner Bros., Ice Cube said, “I don’t know what they’re doing. They don’t know what they’re doing. We’d love to have it back. I think it’s going be close to a time when we get it back. So, we’ll either wait for that time, or we’ll keep trying to convince...

Ice Cube is getting heated with Warner Bros.
The N.W.A. rapper turned filmmaker slammed the production company for stalling two “Friday” sequels. Ice Cube wrote and starred in the original 1995 film and penned follow-ups “Next Friday” (2000) and “Friday After Next” (2002). A fourth film, “Last Friday,” was confirmed in 2020; however, more franchise installments are now on the back burner, according to Ice Cube.
“I don’t know. Warner Brothers is weird right now. I don’t know what they’re doing, they don’t know what they’re doing,” Ice Cube said during the “Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson” podcast. “We’d love to have [the rights] back. I think it’s going to be close to a time when we can get it back. So we’ll either wait for that time, or we’ll keep trying to convince them that they need to let us control the movie.”

Ice Cube is fighting Warner Bros. for the Friday franchise rights and he is not willing to pay for the movie he created.

Ice Cube has confirmed that he missed out on a 9 million acting gig because he is unvaccinated.
The rapper’s confirmation follows last year’s report that his opposition to the Covid-19 vaccine cost him a role in the Sony comedy “Oh Hell No” co-starring Jack Black, a job that required vaccinated cast members.
“I turned down a movie because I didn’t want to get the motherf**king jab,” the actor told the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast during Monday’s episode.

Most fans of the original comedy classic "Friday" and its subsequent sequels might assume that star Ice Cube actually stepped behind the camera to direct one, if not all, of the entries in his beloved neighborhood stoner trilogy. But in fact, he didn't direct a single installment in the franchise. Ice Cube did try his hand at directing in the late '90s with "Players Club," a story about a single mother who turns to the underworld of exotic dance to make ends meet.
Aside from an ESPN episode of "30 for 30" about the Oakland Raiders' move to Los Angles in 1982, "Players Club" is the only directing credit for Cube, who prefers to share the limelight with other directors. This is especially true with the "Friday" series where the rap mogul liked hiring first-time directors. Mike Epps' big Hollywood break came when he starred alongside Ice Cube in the 2000 stoner comedy "Next Friday," the sequel to 1995's "Friday." From there, the actor gained roles in many hit films and released a number of comedy specials. "It was a miraculous leap," Epps told Hollywood.com of his "Next Friday" role in 1999, a month before the movie hit theaters.
In the first "Friday," Craig (Ice Cube) gets fired from his job on his day off for allegedly stealing boxes. This leaves his schedule wide open to try weed for the first time with friend and pothead, Smokey (Chris Tucker), which gets them in hot water with drug dealer Big Worm (Faizon Love). At the end of the movie, Craig does the whole neighborhood a favor and knocks out the local bully, Deebo (Tommy "Tiny" Lister Jr.).

Turns out “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount/19.99) won’t match the multiple-week undisputed #1 run of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” earlier this year: On one VOD chart’s top 10, “Thor: Love and Thunder” (Disney/19.99) takes the lead.
Using chart positions to determine relative revenues is an imperfect gauge of success and “Maverick” does remain on top at both iTunes and Google Play. What makes “Thor” stand out is, unlike “Maverick,” it can also be seen free streaming for subscribers at Disney+.
iTunes has “Thor” at #2, while Google Play puts it third. It is one of three recent releases to place on multiple charts, with Sony’s “Where the Crawdads Sing” on all three, with #3 its highest placement at iTunes. Universal’s “Beast” is on two and is #3 at Vudu.

For over 25 years, the "Friday" movies have been intricately woven into the fabric of pop culture. Known as the launchpad for Ice Cube's acting career, bits and gags from the original film are used today with many not even knowing where "Bye Felicia!" even comes from. And based on the amount of reboots and revivals out there today, you would think that another "Friday" sequel would be a no-brainer. So where is it?

“Kids,” a gritty look at a group of skateboarding, drug-abusing, bed-hopping teenagers, became an unlikely box office hit when it premiered in the summer of 1995.
Shot on a shoestring budget with a cast comprised of unknowns and amateur actors, the film’s subject matter and frank sexuality was scandalous, prompting condemnation in some quarters, as well as fights with the ratings board. “Kids'” Nc-17 rating ultimately forced Bob and Harvey Weinstein, then at Miramax, to buy back the film from parent company Disney and create a one-off distribution shingle in order to release the movie in unrated form. It went on to gross an astounding $20.4 million, catapulted director Larry Clark and screenwriter Harmony Korine up Hollywood’s ladder, and launched the careers of stars Rosario Dawson and Chloë Sevigny.

Tommy “Tiny” Lister, the hulkish character actor whose pro-wrestler frame and menacing onscreen disposition highlighted the first two Friday films, Jackie Brown, The Fifth Element, and more than 200 other movies, died Thursday at the age of 62. Tommy “Tiny” Lister, who appeared in “Friday” and “The Fifth Element” and was also a professional wrestler, died Thursday, his manager Cindy Cowan confirmed.

HBO Max is serving up a lot of great new movies this October. Fittingly for the spooky season, the Warner Bros. streaming service is adding a fair few classic horrors to its library next month, but there’s really something for everyone going up – from comedies to romances to sci-fi to superhero films.
Speaking of that last genre, DC lovers will be pleased to note that 2013’s Man of Steel, the movie that kicked off the Dceu, is among the titles arriving on October 1st. Besides that, there’s a bunch of animated DC pics dropping the same day, including Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and All-Star Superman. 2005’s Constantine featuring Keanu Reeves, meanwhile, also debuts on the service from the 1st.

I recently had a chance to catch up with director Luis Iga Garza who talked about the journey to get this film on the big screen, the importance of Latino representation in the movie, and more:

Murder In The Woods is coming to theaters and drive-ins nationwide next Friday, August 14th. It’s a slasher film centered on a group of college friends who plan a getaway to celebrate a Birthday party at a desolate cabin in the woods. Having won 9 awards and selling out all screenings during its festival run, Murder in the Woods is a horror film for a mainstream audience but the cast and crew are all latinx and they’re not portrayed in stereotypical roles. Here’s the trailer:

A24’s “The Disaster Artist” and “Lady Bird” led the pack of specialized successes, again landing in the weekend’s Top 10 chart. Both had to hold off the usual pre-holiday dip as well as the massive draw across all audiences for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
A total of eight recent limited releases expanded this weekend –all their theaters combined add up to about the same number of theaters as “The Last Jedi,” but it grossed 22 times as much as the $10-million total of those eight films combined.
To a large extent grosses this week are gravy on top of past totals and more importantly a build-up to the most lucrative time of the year for adult moviegoing. That starts in earnest on Christmas Day. More viable titles are competing than most years, and not all will be optimally available. But distributors hope to regain their momentum with the return...

The wait until the Doctor Who Christmas special is about to get a little easier.
Next Friday will bring with it the first clip from the much-anticipated episode, titled “Twice Upon a Time,” as the sci-fi show joins in with the Children In Need charity campaign. Ahead of the celebrations next week, though, we now have these festive cast photos.
Taken in the Tardis, the images show Peter Capaldi, David Bradley and Pearl Mackie posing with Pudsey the bear, the Children in Need’s mascot. One pic even sees the trio together, grinning and donning Christmas hats. Well, Bradley and Mackie are wearing them. Presumably, the hat wouldn’t fit over Capaldi’s bouffant hair.

Andy Muschetti is a director in demand! Next Friday, his next film, the highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s It, hits theaters. After that, Muschetti has Robotech and It Part 2 on his docket.
Though the film has not been marketed this way, It was always developed to be two parts, as King’s original novel deals first with the protagonists as children and later with them as adults. Likely, WB was waiting to gauge the success of this year’s It before moving forward with the sequel, but due to early positive critical reactions, high audience anticipation, and great box office projections, it looks like It is going to be a record-breaking hit for September. So, now that It Part 2 is officially in the works, what comes first, that film of Robotech?
Muschetti told Bad Taste that he will not do Robotech until the second part of It is complete.

Early this morning at 3:31 Am, Karan Johar tweeted ‘#AeDilHaiMushkil 28th October!!!!!! This Diwali!!! Next Friday!!!!!!’
Well, that’s a clear indication of things to come. The Big Date is round the corner. Perhaps it is even bigger than 16th October 1998 when Karan Johar made a huge splash with his Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Now that he has Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma at his disposal, the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil becomes all the more important.
“First and foremost you tell me which filmmaker has actually managed to make a credible romantic musical this year,” questions an ardent filmgoer, “None of the big hits actually belong to this genre. Look at the Top-5 grossers of the year so far – Sultan, M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story, Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3. They have action, drama and comedy as the key pillars.

Next Friday, Sept. 16, marks the release of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s latest film performance, “Snowden.” But before Gordon-Levitt took on such a weighty character, he starred in a 1991 Pop-Tart commercial as a responsible son who won’t let his dad leave for work before having the most important meal of the day. Before we place our bets on either Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent, now would be a good time to take a look back at the history these characters have made for themselves on screen. Both heroes have been portrayed by various actors in numerous films, from Christopher Reeve as Superman in Richard Donner's films, to Christian Bale as Batman in Christopher Nolan's take on the Caped Crusader.
Let's go down memory lane and look back at some of Batman and Superman's greatest moments on screen before we see them fight it out in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Next Friday, Steven Spielberg geeks like myself will (hopefully) be turning out in droves to buy tickets to the master director’s latest film, the very serious-and-handsome-looking Cold War thriller “Bridge of Spies.” The Tom Hanks-starring period drama has garnered mostly favorable responses following its premiere at the New York Film Festival (our own Rodrigo Perez seemed to like it just fine… here’s his review) and is poised to be a contender during the upcoming Oscar season. With it comes a soundtrack of Simone covers recorded by her daughter, Lisa Simone, as well as Mary J. Blige, Common, Gregory Porter, Jazmine Sullivan, and more. But the biggest and most unexpected presence on that album is Lauryn Hill, who, despite only planning to contribute two covers, ended up recording six. Given her own elusive history, it feels appropriate. "Because I fed on this music … I believed I always had a right to have a voice," Hill explained of her connection to Simone. "Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift." At a premiere of the film earlier this month, Hill performed a few of those covers, and now Rolling Stone has premiered what'll likely be the most-talked-about of all her covers: Simone...

Anyone who has ever watched a Pixar movie, at some point or another, has probably been forced to use their shirt sleeve to wipe away a few big tears during an emotional moment. Pixar's best movies are their most emotionally-draining, especially with classics like Toy Story 3, Up, Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc. being known for their ability to tap into your deepest feelings. That said, Lindsay McCutcheon has compiled a moving montage of moments from Pixar films that will hit your heart as hard as a punch from Mr. Incredible. McCutcheon manages to pack nearly 20 years of powerful moments into such a short time frame - it's both a credit to the editor and the way Pixar can jostle your emotions in such a small scene.
