One of the most advance film in style and substance coming from Iran. The movie was a prediction of what would have happen in Iran before the revolution 1979. The shah was trying to push Iran to become and industrial country to reach Japan as soon as possible while the new wave of modernisation without political freedoms was holding the momentum. Therefore, I would destroy or confuse the culture like the mongols who invaded the country and destroyed everything and left the country ruined for years to come. The sarcastic and comic style of the film was unprecedented in Iranian cinema before so much the money critics found the film vague and nonsense and couldn't see the sarcasm.
