Filming was briefly halted when Warwick Davis had chronic flatulence, and again when a power outage occurred.
Last entry to be released by Trimark.
Director of Leprechaun 3 (1995) and Leprechaun 4: In Space (1996), Brian Trenchard-Smith pitched his idea for what the 5th movie would've been, which would've had the Leprechaun finding his way into the White House. As the director has noted, his version would have seen the little imp infiltrating an oafish but well-meaning first family. As a political satire of the Clinton era as that was the director's favorite president, but the studio, Trimark turned it down, feeling it was "too out there." at the time.
Had the closest release date to St. Patrick's Day. Was released to DVD on March 28, 2000.
Obviously the opening scene was a reused scene from leprechaun (1993)
