- World War I is over, and in Greece, a new social class emerges, the "newly rich", slowly degrading the Athenians. The traditional society is critical and sarcastic towards their caprices, who constantly copy the Parisian eccentricities.
- In 1930s Ioannina, unable to make ends meet, and already several months behind in the rent, the inseparable bosom friends, Petros, Yannis, and Pipis, share everything, even their food, and their meagre savings. In the face of imminent eviction, Petros falls in love with the beautiful neighbour, Nitsa; however, love on an empty stomach is hard. Then, the unexpected discovery of a forgotten bond of the National Bank of Greece will pave the way for a change of luck, as the three companions will have to visit the institution's main branch in Athens to claim their rights and get rich. Nevertheless, due to severe weather conditions, all communication is lost. Now, the three friends and future millionaires have less than twenty-four hours to receive their money. Will they make it in time and bid farewell to poverty, once and for all?—Nick Riganas
