The sixth episode was the second-best episode of the season, after the Aamir Khan one. Sunny and Bobby Deol in the last episode elicited some genuine laughs from the audience and the viewers. For the first time, Sunny Deol seemed casual talking about his failures and successes over the years and how the Deol family had a stellar 2023, with each member delivering path-breaking record-shattering box offices at the cinemas. It was rare to find them comfortable in their own skin, which made the episode memorable, coupled with some intelligent gags put forward by every supporting actor on the show.

Back in 2019, on a visit to Los Angeles, celebrated Indian director Sanjay Leela Bhansali stopped in at the offices of Netflix. In his informal five-minute meeting with CEO Ted Sarandos, Bhansali pitched an idea — it would be an opulent tale of warring courtesans set amid India’s struggle for independence. Sarandos greenlit the project on the spot.
Now Bhansali’s Hindi-language series, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” is making its U.S. debut (episodes dropped on May 1). Spanning 1920 through 1947, the lavish story is set in the Heeramandi district of Lahore, British India, the milieu of the tawaifs. As with the geisha of Japan, tawaifs were trained in music and dance and courted by nobility. At the show’s center are Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala), the scheming queen of Heeramandi, and her vindictive niece Fareedan (Sonakshi Sinha), who has ambitions to take her aunt’s place.
The project’s development took somewhat longer than that Netflix visit.

As with any time I try to explain a massive figure in Indian film to the uninitiated, the temptation rises quickly to compare director Sanjay Leela Bhansali to someone in Hollywood.
And, as with any time I actually make these comparisons, everything falls short. Bhansali depicts spectacle evocative of the work of Baz Luhrmann, but even that is a pale imitation (no disrespect to either). There is no one literally anywhere in the world creating cinema with the scale and grandeur that Bhansali has cultivated as his signature, a style so distinct that his own peers pay homage to it while he’s still alive and working.
But at the top of IndieWire’s conversation about Bhansali’s career, he’s quick to shake the larger-than-life visual splendor of his creations, emphasizing — as writer, director and producer, among his many hats — that the stories themselves evoke that scope.

Actress Richa Chadha, who is garnering praise for her work in auteur Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ott debut ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, shared that she was offered a different role in the show but she chose the character of Lajjo.
The actress shared that despite being offered a role with more screen time, she decided to portray Lajjo owing to her heartbreaking arc in the show.
Richa felt that the resemblance of her character in the show to Meena Kumari from ‘Pakeezah’ and a female version of Devdas would definitely leave an impact.
Reflecting on her decision, Richa said: “When I was approached for ‘Heeramandi’, at the time Sanjay was the showrunner, and I had been offered another part, the one with more screen time for sure. But because an actor also needs to see what’s in here that’s new for me, I chose Lajjo.”

The superstar, who is known to be emotional, has cried several times while watching some movies. One of them is Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Sunil would rarely get anything he wanted. After all, that’s life. You don’t always get what you want.
It has been 30 years since Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa was released, and movie lovers can’t get enough of it. Everything about Kundan Shah’s movie is incredible, from the story to the performances to the music. In fact, Srk once called Khkn his favourite movie. Did Ajay Devgn Refuse Shah Rukh Khan’s Request To Let Kajol Work With Him? (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Kajol and Ajay Devgn are the perfect metaphor for opposites attract. If anyone ever needs to prove this theory, they should simply point it out to them. The couple who met on the sets of a film titled Hulchul in 1993 fell in love despite not liking each other at first. However, while they shared a friendship, it turned into love, and the rest, as they say, is history.
However, Bollywood fans had to suffer a lot after this union happened. Kajol was Shah Rukh Khan’s best co-star, and their chemistry on-screen was par excellence. It was so strong that no one had ever displayed such believable on-screen chemistry, so much so that people wanted them to end up together despite knowing the fact that our King was already married.

Tiger Zinda Hai ft Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif ( Photo Credit – Yrf / YouTube )
Tiger Zinda Hai is one of the best action films starring Salman Khan. The second film of Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe also stars Katrina Kaif in the lead role. The 2017 film is a sequel to Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger. What started as a cross-border love story between two spies turns into a duo fighting terrorists in the sequel directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
After the events of Ek Tha Tiger, everyone wondered what exactly Tiger and Zoya were doing. Hence, Ali ensured the work knew that Salman’s Avinash Rathore, aka Tiger, was alive. He also showed us that he and Zoya are going strong together. No amount of hatred or attempts by their respective former colleagues could break them apart. Amidst all the action and terror, the Tiger and Zoya live some romantic moments together.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan Is The Hgoty 2023, Ends Bollywood’s Hiatus After 6 Years (Picture Credit: Instagram & Youtube)
Shah Rukh Khan has officially ended Bollywood’s long hiatus at the box office, and Jawan is officially the highest-grosser of the year in 2023, coming from Bollywood. However, we are still not sure if celebrating this achievement as a Bollywood achievement is correct since the film featured South Indian superstar Nayanthara and the blockbuster South Indian director Atlee!
However, one thing for sure is that the crown this year officially goes to SRKn for bringing people back to the theaters in such great numbers. While Jawan has turned the highest-grossing film of the year, it was speculated that Animal or Salaar could have broken Srk’s record, but that seems impossible now.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which turned 7 on October 28, is one good-looking film with actors who epitomize human beauty. True, they strive helplessly towards reaching the inner core of their being to obtain a spiritual centre to match that abundance of physical beauty. That synchronized connectivity between inner and outer beauty escapes the filmmaker as well as his characters who are heard mouthing some beautiful poetry that seems ordered online.
The film is enormously gratifying for the high level of visual aesthetics that Karan invests into his frames. Full marks to cinematographer Anil Mehta for shooting Karan’s location and actors with an intensity that frequently betrays their shallow interests in life. Karan Johar loves his films to look beautiful. He works towards gleaming polishing and grooming his locations and actors as though he were building a Taj Mahal for the gen-y to rest its reposeful romanticism.

“Devdas,” the 1917 novella by Bengali author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, is one of the most commonly adapted stories in Indian cinema, and the tale's star-crossed romance and harsh critique of contemporary social mores have served as an influence for countless books and films. By the time then up-and-coming auteur Anurag Kashyap began conceiving his own take on “Devdas,” there had been at least fifteen movies directly or indirectly based on the novel, and the wildly popular Shah Rukh Khan version had recently been released in 2002. Not wanting to merely copy what came before, Kashyap decided to alter the story to reflect 21st-century social issues. This resulted in 2009's “Dev. D,” a bold adaptation that brought an arthouse style to general audiences.

[Editor’s note: This story contains spoilers for “Polite Society.”]
It took everything I had not to yell out loud during “Polite Society.”
Not because of the intense fight sequences, killer martial arts, or even that twist — what had this reporter out of her seat was a dance sequence that unfolds during the film’s final act. As Ria (Priya Kansara) dances at sister Lena’s (Ritu Arya) wedding, she aims to “distract” the assembled guests while her friends are busy executing a master plan that’s consumed most of the film’s running time. Dressed in an emerald-green outfit, Ria takes the stage, and the opening notes of “Maar Dala” begin to play.
Composed by Ismail Darbar with lyrics by Nusrat Badr, “Maar Dala” first appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2002 film “Devdas,” based on 1917 Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay novel of the same name. In the film, Madhuri Dixit-Nene performs the number (sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy and K.K.) as courtesan Chandramukhi,...
