The ending of the Hardcore title match was planned as follows: Hardcore Holly would cover Crash Holly, and the referee would only reach a pinfall count of two before the time limit expired, ensuring that Crash would win the match and keep the title. However, in execution, the referee makes and completes the three count just before the on-screen clock reaches zero. There is some initial confusion among the commentators and the ring announcer Howard Finkel as to the outcome of the match, before an on-the-spot decision is made to announce Hardcore Holly as the winner, and the new Hardcore Champion. A re-write was made for the following night's "Raw" show, allowing Crash to win the title back from Hardcore Holly.
During the main event, when Mick Foley attempted to jump from the ring ropes and crash onto Triple H (who was lying on the announcers' table), he fell short and hit the side of the table. It was not part of the script, and was his own error. Foley later described how the incident knocked the wind out of him and he had to exit the match early.
