Mr. Rogers : I was a bachelor for, oh about a year and a half. That doesn't mean I got married when I was a year and a half old but I mean, you know, when I was living alone in New York for about a year and a half.

King Friday XIII : [is shown a real live snake after seeing a rubber one] He's real, isn't he?
Bill Allan : Oh this one is very real, King Friday. This is what they call a ball python.
King Friday XIII : A "ball" python?
Bill Allan : Notice how he rolls up into a ball?
King Friday XIII : Oh, I see.
Bill Allan : He's from Africa.
King Friday XIII : I see. How old is he?
Bill Allan : Oh this one is about 4 or 5 years old. He's an adult. He's about as big as they get.
King Friday XIII : Oh yes, well I'm glad he's not going to get much bigger. There are those, you know, who are afraid of snakes. Yes. One of them stands on top of a broom most of the time.

Mr. Rogers : [some children count to 13] And he's about to come.
[as King Friday]
Mr. Rogers : Do they know how to greet me?
[as Mr. Rogers]
Mr. Rogers : Yes, King Friday, just turn around and you'll see.
King Friday XIII : It is with great pleasure that I see you ladies and gentlemen this morning. Do you have anything to tell me? What is it, my dear?
Little Girl : We're going to move to a new house today.
King Friday XIII : A new house? How wonderful. Are you going to take your toys with you?
Little Girl : Yes.
King Friday XIII : And your bed?
Little Girl : Yes.
King Friday XIII : You're going to take all of your things and put them in a new house? Are you going to take your mommy and daddy and brother and sister?
Little Girl : Yes.
King Friday XIII : Wonderful. Lovely idea!
-
King Friday XIII : And what kind of a snake is that one, Mr. Allan?
Bill Allan : It's a copperhead, King Friday.
King Friday XIII : Well a copperhead is poisonous, is it not?
Bill Allan : Real ones are, but this is just a rubber one.
King Friday XIII : Oh, made of rubber. Let me see it then. Oh yes, he does have a copper color on his head, doesn't he?
Bill Allan : That's why they call it a copperhead, King Friday.

King Friday XIII : [is shown another snake] What is this one?
Bill Allan : This is an indigo, King Friday. This is what the show people like to use in a circus.
King Friday XIII : I see. Hello, Indigo. How old is he?
Bill Allan : Oh this one... Probably about six years old.
King Friday XIII : Oh, time for you to go to school, Mr. Indigo Snake.
