In Bruges
Reportedly, made to advertise Belgium's recovery as a nice place to visit after the war, this travelogue I saw from the virtual 39th Pordenone Silent Film Festival's program "The Urge to Travel" will be familiar to anyone who's seen the 2008 black comedy "In Bruges," including views of the Belfry and an extended phantom ride down the canals. There's also footage of Belgian beaches and coastline, a bit of horse racing and some panorama shots. The canal footage is especially well composed and edited, as the boats go under bridges and through treed areas. The musical score by José María Serralde Ruiz helps make for a relaxing boat ride, too.
